I stumbled on an idea while building an inquisitor in my spare time.

Alright, you normally have to be a half elf to take Paragon surge, and it doesn't appear on the class spell lists of bard/inquisitor/summoner.

You surge with ancestral power, temporarily embodying all the strengths of both elvenkind and humankind simultaneously, and transforming into a paragon of both races, something greater than elf or human alone. Unlike with most polymorph effects, your basic form does not change, so you keep all extraordinary and supernatural abilities of your half-elven form as well as all of your gear. For the duration of the spell, you receive a +2 enhancement bonus to Dexterity and Intelligence and are treated as if you possessed any one feat for which you meet the prerequisites, chosen when you cast this spell.

Easy way to add something to a class spell list? Samsaran alternate racial trait: Mystic Past Lives.

Mystic Past Life (Su) You can add spells from another spellcasting class to the spell list of your current spellcasting class. You add a number of spells equal to 1 + your spellcasting class's key ability score bonus (Wisdom for clerics, and so on). The spells must be the same type (arcane or divine) as the spellcasting class you're adding them to. For example, you could add divine power to your druid class spell list, but not to your wizard class spell list because divine power is a divine spell. These spells do not have to be spells you can cast as a 1st-level character. The number of spells granted by this ability is set at 1st level. Changes to your ability score do not change the number of spells gained. This racial trait replaces shards of the past.

Problem: Samsaran are not half elves, they can't cast the spell. Well, not unless the DM bends the rules. Alot of DMs won't bend the rules, especially for something like Paragon Surge.

There is something else special about samsaran that can help a player justify learning/casting this spell. It even thematically fits with Mystic Past lives... the Samsaran children are human. Samsaran can have kids, presumably with humans and other samsaran. It seems logical they might be able to have kids with elves or half elves. The child of an elf and a samsaran should be a half elf. With a half elf? Human, racial heritage half elf. Samsaran children can become become Samsaran when they die, via reincarnation. Thus a samsaran was able to cast this spell in a past life, why not now? He still remembers what it means to be half elven, he remembers the spell, its feel, its warmth, its power, its flow.

It's a concept i'd like to hear a few opinions on. It's ultimately still house rules, and it won't pass muster in society play, but It might help a few of you have some fun with Paragon surge and other races/classes that normally can't use it.

Guide Linky (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?296803-Pathfinder-mini-guide-Casting-spells-from-other-lists)

Could be gotten with Eldritch Arcana...but that would outright kill the biggest boost from Surge right there.

What else we got?

Magician (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/bard/archetypes/paizo---bard-archetypes/magician) Bard can grab it as a 3rd level spell at level 10 (unless your DM lets you delay selection for a level, then you could use your level 6 bonus at level 7).

Well, there's the Ring of Spell Knowledge (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/rings/ring-of-spell-knowledge).
Must be Arcane Spontaneous (so no help for Inquisitors), and if the spell is off-list it counts as +1, so a 4th level slot.

And then there are a couple ways to add any spell to your list (with penalty), the easiest is Pathfinder Savant (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/a-b/pathfinder-savant).

Yeah, Bards have it easy, Inquisitors are kinda out of luck.
