Arcane Archer and Hierophant are the other classic "why the **** doesn't this give CL advancement" classes from the DMG.

Do you mean a PrC that doesn't have any kind of caster level progression but feels like it should have one (like Arcane Archer and Lifedrinker) or PrCs that have too many levels that don't progress casting (like Mindbender and Wyrm Wizard)?

Eunuch warlock. It requires 5th level spells, so 9th level wizard or 10th level sorcerer. Then spends 10 levels increasing your spellsslots, but not spellcasting.

The 3.5 update adds caster levels. I try to ignore it though, because old Eunuch Warlock adds a pretty unique ability in increasing spell levels beyond classes' normal maximums.


I would have liked to see PF-Warmind style Options of CL advancement on basically every contained-list PrC in the game - All the Knights of the Chalice or Pious Templars.
