View Full Version : Pathfinder good spells for an arcane archer?

I'm playing a late entry arcane archer (ranger8, wiz 1 AA 3). My caster level is 5 as I couldn't take practiced caster, but could take a trait for two levels.

Can anyone suggest spells that would be useful in my situation?

Arrows/bolts of spell storing literally invalidate the entire Arcane Archer PrC. Use those instead and use the class levels to invest more into your Wizard.

The group I'm playing with is fairly low op. Also, resupply is an issue. Initially I took AA in order to branch out my archer based ranger into.

Pf tag. Spellstoring isn't valid on ammo in pf.

Even if this wasn't PF, your statement is patently wrong because of Imbue Arrow, the class feature most people take Arcane Archer for. Spell Storing doesn't work for area spells.

Even if spell storing were available it wouldn't be an option in my circumstance. Also, I was looking for a prestige class and found little that would benefit an archer build.

Imbue arrow's neat. It's a lot less neat as a Ranger8/Wiz1. Stone call, entangle, spike growth are all options on ranger side, but all have OK range already. On Wizard, grease is always good.

Fair point. I'd be better off if the progression were planned from the beginning. I'll have to recheck those spells, for some reason I had discounted the ranger list as having one or two archer friendly spells and the rest being to make the animal companion better.
