Title, does this work? If I make a successful disarm attempt does it count as a successful attack for Driving Attack, meaning he drops his weapon and is thrown backward? And if so does that mean it will take him 2 turns to be able to attack me again, because he has to run up to his weapon with one move and pick it up with a second?

My understanding is that no, that won't work. Just because Driving Attack requires you to take a full-round action making a single attack roll for the purposes of driving them backwards, and a Disarm involves opposed attack rolls and an AoO. That's what it sounds like to me, based on the wording. Although that would be excellent if it did work together.
