Irda Spellcaster

Another player of mine wants to play as a Irda, a type of smart ogre, from dragonlance. His back story is she set out to learn the secrets of their ancestors now lost. Does anyone know any magic classes or actually anything really that is race specific for them?
If not can i have some ideas on a build? He wants to be an arcane caster.
