I'm new to the d&d world, though I've been reading for years. I have always like the monk class and want to know the best way to make a high damage unarmed monk!

I've read about different prestige classes. Sun soul, arcanopath( one of my favorites so far) fist of the forest, enabled hand, etc etc

Want to know the best way to make my guys unarmed damage max out.

Human half fang dragon is my guys race

You're in the wrong forum for this, I'm afraid. The things you're referring to are 3.X material, and this is the 4e forum.

(Too bad -- monks are way better in 4e than 3.X.)

They get even better in 5e; feels like I'm playing Raiden from Metal Gear Rising (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RypphRK14t8).

Those were just examples, have 5e preordered so any tips or advice to help with 4e or 5e would be great

Optimization details (like how to max out your unarmed damage) vary significantly from edition to edition.

One common mistake that D&D developers make is that they undervalue the power of multiple attacks and stacking bonuses to damage per hit. If you optimize either one of them, your damage output grows linearly, but if you optimize both it grows quadratically.

But paragon paths to pick? That level of detail is going to be highly edition specific.

Thanks yakk about the optimizing that'll help a ton. Oh well about the prc, I'm trying to make my guy more like a superstrong batman than a DBZ character. Any good magical items?

That is also very edition specific. We can give you tips that are very broad, like get your to-hit stat as high as you can, look for ways to attacks when it isn't your turn. Anything more specific, well, won't work. That race doesn't exist outside of 3.5 I don't believe, and feats and items are drastically different as well.

Which one depends on which edition. Whatever boosts you to-hit, boost that one. Hitting more often does more damage.
