Need help finding a song

Have a friend who has an 'unknown' song in the iPod, and they're trying to figure out who it is. Sounds 90's-ish, male singer, like a "light metallica". Been googling the lyrics they've transcribed for an hour with no luck, so I figured I'd come to the experts. Any idea what this song is?
