In 3.5 using paladin (without the UA variants) dread necro and blackguard levels how would one make an effective epitome of evil master of undead character while still being a core race?

Would Paladin 9/Dread Necro 1 and blackguard 10 be an effective build?

Does anyone have any better ideas to pull off this concept effectively?

Here's the problem with gish: You can't really make this work at all. You'd have all the spells of a first level dread necromancer, but you're also pretty much a failure at everything. You'd be better off going to level 20 with paladin 20 and then fall, become a blackguard (trading ten levels of paladin) and then becoming a death knight.

Look at the Horned Harbinger PRC from faiths and pantheons. It is an interesting choice which might help you.

Going Paladin 2/DN 1/Paladin1/Fighter 1/Horned Harbinger 2/Blackguard 2/Horned Harbinger 8/Hexblade 3

This gets you the Paladins Lay on Hands for Fallen Blackguards (Hilariously enough the fallen paladin's Lay On Hands doesn't use positive energy it just heals the blackguard. Thus you can still have tomb tainted soul or be undead)

This build gets you pretty good saves/bab and lets you animate undead for free at a decently high cap. Its not the most efficient but I could see it working for a low op campaign.

You might want to switch those levels around as you need to qualify for Horned Harbigner with 8 ranks of knowledge planes which isn't a paladin skill. A cloistered cleric dip would be useful (With Human and 12 int you could just dump all the skill points into Knowledge the planes that level (6 +1 +1 = 8) and qualify. Plus domains and the like can help give bonus feats or abilities.

Are you wanting to use those classes because those are the only ones you can use, or because you think they'll be effective? Because Bone Knight is this concept, while the ones you've listed...well, you can certainly build a character like you describe with just Dread Necro, but Paladin and Blackguard don't add much.

How do you take paladin levels then dread necro and then more paladin levels? Is that possible?

Right no evil paladin variants. Nvm then go paladin 3/Fighter 1/DN/Horned Harbigner 2/...
