View Full Version : Other Resurrection Prestige Classes like Risen Martyr?

The idea of resurrecting your character in order to continue their story is a great concept, but "Risen Martyr" annoys me with how many unlikely prerequisites it has. Honestly, how many characters are going to have taken Nimbus of Light before they die?

Is there a less restrictive prestige class with the same concept? Cause its a damn cool concept, but I want to be able to run that storyline with more broad character arcs.

i know of at least one other prestige class that you could take, the Emancipated Spawn (Savage Species pg. 76 )

Unfortunately thats 3.0 i believe and also has the lofty prerequisite that the spawn-you survives long enough for the wraith or whatever to get killed, then you also have to get away before your own party members kill you, otherwise interesting concept to use, if you could (as a spellcasting class) get yourself killed by a shadow then get away with it that would be great. Now i am just imagining pretending to be a Vashta Narada (http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Vashta_Nerada) from Doctor Who. "Im sorry Jim, but you have two shadows"

Any undead racial class could do it too IIRC.

There is always the Ghostwalk attitude to death where you continue playing the ghost of your character, and there are various prestige classes that go with this.

I believe Blood Magus (Complete Arcane) requires you to have died and been resurrected.

The ghost savage progression should do it:
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20040117a

It's a template, so you don't get bab, skill or saves increases, but you do get d12 hp instead of your previous class-die.

EDIT: rejuvenation is basically a hard bargained immortality, but at ECL 15, you get to succeed on the DC 16 level check on a 1, so yeah, you can't die anymore (even though you are already dead, but that's another story).

Have fun!

Like others have said nearly any undead will do.

My first thought though was the revenant template. It brings back the soul a la the Crow to bring vengeance upon their killer. I think that template is out of a Forgotten Realms splatbook iirc.

The book is was called "Monsters of Faerūn".

Also here is the revenant (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/mof_gallery/MonFaePG95.jpg) artwork.

You could always houserule Risen Martyr to give Nimbus of Light as a bonus feat at first level instead.

IIRC: The saint template is similar to the risen martyr. Had a warforged saint in a dungeon run last week.
