*The Year 429, second solar cycle, Pyrith of Steadfast, Second Shou, Day of Beauty*

Even before you enter Earthhome, it's Shintouite spires can be seen from afar, dark spires twist themselves at the sky at small dark specks of air, challenging their supremacy, a living testament of the Huroshan way of life. Its great walls, made of giant interlocking blocks of Shintouite with gates of solid adamantine, rise before you, the gates opening slowly by a clockwork mechanism powered by Kasumor's famous giant insects. As you enter the city, the specks of air turn out to be hundreds and hundreds of insects, providing the people of Earthhome with everything they need, from transport to companionship to even food. The street of the city are lively, buzzing from both insects and the merchants, the latter praising their wares which hail from all the corners of the world.

As you traverse the city, the Kyuden, the great fortress palace of the Emperors and Empresses of Hurosha, comes into view. Being build at the back wall of the city, it is build with granite instead of Shintouite, a testament to its age. However, crews of Menhîrin, Cloudiz and Bucka can be seen working in unison on the castle, fortifying it with Shintouite.

http://www.myfreewallpapers.net/fantasy/wallpapers/castle-gates.jpg

Approaching the gates of the Kyuden, you walk across the main walkway to the gates. Two dozen Menhîrin of all kinds flank the walkway, saluting every delegation that arrives, regardless of status or the size of their nation. Everyone's Prowess is acknowledged, every ruler greeted with respect. At the gates, Grïend, the eldest of the Menhîrin and Ambassador of Gwrîstîn, awaits every delegation to lead them inside, respectfully asking everyone to follow his lead. He lead the delegations to the Ambassadors of Hurosha: Kenwyn Jakson of Zargrim, Helga Grimhammer of Keldagrim, Myron of Shikurai and Haruka of Tekorva. All are clad in full gear, adamantine fullplates and weaponry, decorated with precious stones and amber. They greet the guests with respect, bowing to acknowledge their position and skills.

Finnally, you are lead to the Halls of Guarding. The massive doors open to reveal a great hall with dinner tables at the sides, the left half of the hall reserved for dancing, the right turned into an arena, fighters already present to test eachother on this glorious day. Through the middle, a path leads to the Throne of Ages, before which Wayve Earthguard, soon to be Emperor of Hurosha, welcomes you with a welcoming gesture, a smile upon his lips. Behind him, in formal clothing, his 22 year old son, Rove Earthguard, bows and expresses his thanks. At a table nearby, Marius Earthguard, the Shïnguard of old, sits to greet any old friends together with his wife, Helena Earthguard. Above the throne sit the legendary Relic Weapon of Kasumor, ancient weapons made of the same Shintouite stone that makes up the citadel and that are rumored to be able to even wound a god. Kuroyume, Blade of the Dark Dream, can be seen on its plaque straight above the throne, flanked by two empty plagues, their owners in use by both Nyllana and Wayve. On the outside, a gigantic towershield and kusarigama can be seen on one side, while at the other a gracious epée can be seen.

Music is playing, duels are fought, all within the splendor of one of the oldest nations of old. There is Heartwine and Sublime Scotch aplenty, myths and fables told everywhere.

Aluic looked in appreciative awe at the splendor of Earthhome. He had never himself traveled this far into Kasumor, having mostly only set foot in border towns across Woodwind and Nyroth's own borders. When the late Syana had spoken of the splendor of the Hurosha Empire Aluic had never imagined anything as grand as this. It was a testament to the prowess of the people across Hurosha that such a magnificent city stood strong. It was almost enough to make him forget that he was taking leave from the Senate at the time when elections for Speaker were just around the corner. Almost.

He still held an impressive following within the Senate, most saw him as the visionary of democratic evolution and his reelection was, according to his aids and allies, an assured thing. Nevertheless he still couldn't put the thought out of his mind that leaving the Triumvirate to attend the Huroshan Coronation would undoubtedly give his political rivals a chance to undermine him. Not enough to lose him this election, almost certainly not, and given he would be able to return and further pursue his popular projects he could likely regain enough of a lead to be prepared for the next election as well, but with the increased number of senators and the growing division between old and new, revolutionaries and traditionalists Aluic knew when his terms were finished the true test of the democratic movement would rule and a new Speaker would yet rise.

He shook these thoughts from his head as he was lead inside by the giant Menhîrin he knew by reputation to be Grïend. He smiled brightly as his eyes wandered the crowd and the assembled delegates. As much as the Huroshans were ones for a bit of royal decadence their commitment to Prowess was in many ways similar to Aluic's own belief in democratic rule and had influenced some of his writings and thoughts on the matter and the general principles he himself held true.

He scanned for familiar faces, front and center of course was Wayve, but to the sides and around him were his various family members. He did not see Sharas, the niece-in-truth daughter-in-practice, of the late Syana, nor did he see Yr, her husband and younger brother to Haruka, the Elder in Tekorva. He had spoken to them before the Trial of Zhuang alongside Syana and again seen them and given condolences at Syana's funeral 7 years ago. They weren't especially close, but they held a mutual respect for one another and were bonded through their shared respect of Syana. But this day was not a day for mourning the lost, it was a day of moving forward and accepting the new.

Aluic approached Wayve, careful not to overstep and come to close he bowed before the man, by human terms an elder but by looks thanks to his Cloudiz heritage appearing no more middle aged than Aluic's self, if not younger. It was clearest when looking upon an Earthguard why youthful looks were so often attributed to some ancient Cloudiz heritage in Woodwind.

"It's an honor to be your guest here your lordship. Or is it yet your grace?" he smiled pleasantly.

Greetings, Prince Wayve Earthgaurd, Speaker Aluic. I apologize for my somewhat haggard appearance; fate conspired against me shortly before I departed my home

Aluic turned, surprised at the interruption and even more shocked by the poor state of the woman standing before him. If her clothing and accompaniment indicated anything this was Lady Alice. She was certainly not the 'foul and craven witch' Dyamusan had described her as, but age and...something else had certainly seen her physical appearance diminished.

"Lady Alice, a pleasure," he bowed his head but spoke no more. It would be out of place to speak to another guest before the host had said their greetings.

Valineth Varinel, Queen upon the Throne of Thorns, Lady Sovereign of the Faedas Freehold, and great beauty of the north was at the current moment only a mother and a wife. She stood behind and somewhat below Rove, her first born and only son and was flanked on either sides by her twelve year old daughters, Kyria and Loris. They cut a somewhat odd swath away from the rest of the royal family, even amid the various ambassadors from Huroshan regions. Valineth with her pale silvery skin and silver hair, and her two daughters, who though marked with Cloudiz blood seemed a strange interpretation of the royal Earthguard markings.

Most prominently the differences stood out in their wings even folded against their backs. They were darker than those of any other known Cloudiz, being nearly black and opaque at that and their insect-like quality seemed to have been blurred together with an appearance similar to the Aukii Bats of Yorukuni. They had gills as well, but they were not overly prominent along their neck, and they did not possess the tail of their grandmother, having two legs instead. From their mother they had inherited their pallor and their silvered hair as well as their pale violet eyes.

The two girls seemed to take no notice of any stares their direction being much too consumed with whispering back and forth behind their mother, mostly to mock the arriving guests or argue with each other. Valineth would have stopped them, but doing so would only make retaining their cooperation later on all the more difficult and they were far enough away from the general commotion as to not raise a problem. If anyone approached however she would be forced to silence their gossiping and giggling, but for now she was content to simply watch the commotion and enjoy the occasion of her husband's coronation.

The Razdissi presence is relatively low-key; only Mormaer Vali and Prince Freki were present, among with a small contingent of plate-armoured guards, bearing gifts. The two nobles wore Mithril mail hauberks, glittering with gold and platinum. Vali wore the great crown of Razdis and Freki a steel circlet set with amber. Freki stood out amongst the Razdissi, being tall due to his orc heritage. Vali steps forth into the Hall of Guarding to speak.

"May your prowess never fail you, lords of Earthhome. We Razdissi are humbled, humbled by the magnificence of your land and the wonders within it. Indeed, we travelled partway by Hovertrain; the marvels of technology never cease. We have brought gifts, from the Underpire. May they serve you well."

Wayve is presented with a hauberk of Mithril mail, a Mithril helm in the Razdissi style, and a long Mithril spear, set with amber as a counterweight and entwined down the shaft with platinum. The rest of the royals present are gifted Heartwine and small items of Mithril jewellery; broaches set with amber, necklaces studded with platinum, and circlets carved with scenes of Razdissi life.

"Your spear's name is Kilpsōber. May it be used wisely, and serve as well as that axe!"

Wayve humbly accepted the mithril gifts the Razdissi brought with them.

"You are not the only one humbled, friends from the Underpire. Please, be welcome within these stone halls. I hope the comforts of the Kyuden are to your liking."

He slightly bowed his head.

"The hovertrain connection between our realms would never have been build if it were not for your help, honorable Razdissi. It is a testament of the ingenuity of both our people. May this testament of our Prowess grow into much greater things."

Examining the craftsmanship the mithril armor, it became clear that he was impressed by the appearent lightness of the metal, while still granting plenty of protection to its bearer.
Wayve tested the spear, slicing at the air in a wide arc and a quick thrust afterwards.

After the test, while examining the craftmanship of the spear, he said:

"Mithril...such a weird substance. Not as solid as Shintouite or Adamantine, but many many times lighter. A fine weapon indeed. This weapon will serve me well, for my axe nor style is suited for fast or many opponents. You said its name is Kilpsõber, correct? What meaning does that name hold?"

OOC: Would you be interested in setting up a trade for Mithril btw. I can offer you Kasumori Giant Insects, Lead, Quartz, Iron or Gold for the time being. Or we could make a Tech vs Resource trade, if you so fancy.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the Kyuden, away from the hall....

“…..and may Ashmar watch over him, bringing fortune to all under his reign. Kangei Ashmar.”

Nyllana ended her prayer before the altar of Ashmar, her hands upon her lap, her tail folded below her. Her son was on the verge of a change in his life. Being the Emperor, he would have to utilize all of his Prowess to lead Hurosha to prosperity and peace. Not that she had any doubt he could not do it. Her son was an Earthguard after all. Wayve was well versed in diplomatic and military matters, was one of the strongest armsmen of Hurosha and had the sharp mind her father also had.

While musing all of this, flying to the Hall of Guarding, she heard a Kasumori guardsman calling her out. When she turned around, he was running towards her, holding his arms, which appeared to be punctured and red with blood. She hurried to the guard, but he already collapsed onto the ground, exhausted by blood loss and exertion alike.

“E-e-empress….Vault…As..pect….rampaging…need..your….hel ..p…protect...us...”

After he uttered those words, the man lost consciousness. Nyllana’s hands grew cold. This was the worst timing the Aspect could have, foreign powers visiting. If the Aspect was on a rampage and would break out, many lives, including foreign ones, would be lost and with that, Hurosha would be plunged into chaos and disarray. She looked at the palefaced guards standing nearby.

“You! Take care of this man, give him every care he needs. And you, inform Marius Earthguard and instruct him to rush to the Vault with a platoon of guards! HURRY!”

With those words, she flew off to the Vault, nimbly manoeuvring between the corridors and columns of the Kyuden. Even from afar, she could see that something was amiss. The heavy adamantine doors were wide open and screams could be heard inside. Fortunately, the Vault was such a large distance away from the Hall of Guarding that the screams couldn’t be heard there. Curious eyes might not like what they saw inside.

She flew inside, preparing for the worst. However, as she observed the scene, being prepared for the worst was not enough. A dozen guardsmen lay bleeding on the ground, limbs crushed. Curiously, none were dead. A handful of warriors were still trying to subdue the giant insect with long spears and halberds, but the Aspect ignored the weapon, as if not even feeling them. It was stomping around aimlessly, not even paying attention to its surroundings. It was a queer sight, as a gigantic child rampaging out of boredom.

It appeared as slow as the stream of lava, the way the Aspect turned his head to confront the new intruder. To confront her. Then, they made eye-contact, and something changed in the compound eyes of the Aspect. Suddenly, they seemed illuminated by an inner light. Suddenly, with a speed Nyllana would deem impossible afterwards, the Aspect charged at her, his stinger ready above his head. She tried to reach for Aonami, but it was already too late. With a sickening crack, the huge stinger struck Nyllana, penetrating her sternum. Her eyes widened, not able to grasp the situation. He looked down, saw the stinger impaling her body. Her body that grew more limp every passing second. Red rivers of crimson blood streamed down her chest and tail. She slowly sank into unconsciousness and everything faded….to a total blackness.

Barring Morph intervention, there will not be any casualties from any players except myself. This is just some dramatic buildup for the rest of the event, and some backstory about some other, religious stuff.

What will happen next? Join us next time for the next exciting episode of.....

The city of Earthhome was an impressive sight, from its fortifications to its spires and the Kyuden a grand citadel indeed. However, neither really sat well with King Tansan. The walls of the city and the citadel were too massive for his taste and the interior of the citadel lacked the open nature of the Rotan Palace. But things were different here, military prowess was emphasised and it made considerable sense to base one's self in a fortress rather than the open courts back in Adrakand.
In any case, he did not fully trust the people of the Hurosha Empire. Reports indicated that there were those among them who still considered Ashenia a threat and might object to his presence, perhaps violently. But he had been invited, and as such, he strode up the centre of the Halls of Guarding accompanied by his heir, Princess Salline, seven servants bearing the gifts brought all the way from Ashenia and twenty guards in gleaming mithril and brilliant scarlet cloaks.
The King was attired in a black silk robe and long cape of dark blue. His robes were embroidered in silver geometric patterns and his cape with the image of a pair of wolves. He had foregone the usual saffron stole for one in brilliant white and a pair of mithril chains that supported a pendant of mithril filligree set with a large diamond. His hair was braided with strands of silver wire and he wore the Royal Crown. His daughter Salline was attired much more simply in a purple gown. Her braids contained no silver and she wore a plain circlet of silver filigree.
Eventually, they arrived before the soon to be emperor and the King's servants and guards knelt as Tansan bowed his head respectfully.
"Greetings to you Prince Wayve. Your invitation was a great honour and it was a privilege to accept. As a token of our appreciation and in honour of your coronation, skilled artisans across my realm have laboured to produce the finest gifts for this occasion. Many were glad to have this chance to show the mastery of their crafts. First, a gift from the weavers and astrologers of Severikand."
Two of the servants walked before the King carrying a large rug which they unrolled, revealing it to be a map of the heavens as seen from Ashenia. The other servants took this as their cue, and one by one walked up to Tansan carrying cedar boxes decorated with fine marquetry. In turn, the King opened each chest and removed the gift within, presenting it to Wayve before replacing it in its chest so it could be placed on the rug.
The second gift was a fine scroll decorated in copper and covered in writing in what appeared to be red ink.
"A gift from the High Priest of Carasan, his final work before he prepares to meet his end. This scroll contains prayers in the hopes that blessings will shower upon you and your realm. It is his hope that his blood is still a worthy offering to the Blood God."
Following was a long box that the king removed a blade sheathed in a scabbard of slightly iridescent scaled leather. Its hilt caught the light as several small stones set in it glittered. He drew this sword a few inches from its scabbard such that Wayve might see its engraved mithril blade.
"Almost six feet of tempered mithril, scabbard from the hide of an elder great lizard and a hilt set with pieces of adamantine ore. The work of Yerithi Melath-Sho. In all of Lacertia, she is considered the finest sword-smith and indeed served Potentate Kelarth. It is my hope that it can serve you in some small capacity."
The next box was much much smaller, but what it contained more than made up for its lack of size. A single large diamond several inches across and golden in colour filled the box. Its surface was carefully engraved with the image of a Tânedhan.
"This we call the Phoenix Star. As near as my jewellers can tell me, this stone is unique among all the diamonds of Hazaria and it was only through great effort that they were able to craft it into this shape. It was very nearly shattered by accident before a miner realised what it was. May it serve as a symbol of the fire that burns within us all."
The next box contained a carefully folded leather coat decorated with black feathers and lined with equally black fur that the King took out to show Wayve. It appeared to have been painted with sigils in dark red, though they appeared to shift slightly so one could not be certain.
"This was crafted from the hides, feathers and blood of Voidbeasts slain by the hunters of the Anvale. They say that any who wear a coat made from these materials can become as a shadow. Stories of course, but it should protect you and your descendants from the elements for centuries."
The final chest was brought forward and the King hesitated for a moment before opening it to reveal a black cloth with a geometric pattern in deep purple, the edges of which were embroidered with minute silver phrases.
"This is a shroud. There is no other way to explain what it is and its intended use. I mean no offence by the giving of this gift, it is merely traditional in Ashenia for a monarch to receive their burial shroud on the day of their coronation. It is symbolic of the mortality that claims even Kings, or Emperors as the case may be. My own hangs behind my Throne, awaiting the day of my death."

It had been a long trek to Earthguard, its mighty walls and spires visible from miles away. "Do you think they're compensating for something?" Tempest had asked, when first she saw them. It felt strange to be so far from the sea, Athelmere realised with something of a shock. His forefathers had been highlanders, but he had spent so much of his life by the coast, looking out over the ocean to his more distant domains, that being out of sight of water for any length of time was almost disconcerting. Long overland travel had started as a novelty and rapidly become a chore.

Only Atheldynn and Adrianna really seemed to have enjoyed the journey: she was a natural horsewoman, and Atheldynn might as well be, given how he had taken to the creatures. Mere himself was a passable rider, but it was something of a frustrating necessity rather than a pleasure. He'd rather have come here by boat, and he imagined that would go doubly for Tempest. Adrianna had influenced Atheldynn the same way Tempest had influenced him, it seemed. The realisation both cheered and saddened him.

My last child, he thought, and perhaps the one least like me. That might not have been entirely true, but with the twins having departed to live with their husbands, and Elwyr to Calorum, Atheldynn was the last of his true children remaining by his side. Only Atheldynn and Alfmark, and their young children, remained, and for all that Alfmark was an heir any father would be proud of, he was a son only by name and not by blood. Why such melancholy, he wondered? Age. His elven blood kept him more vigorous than might be expected for his age, but still his youth was long gone, and he had been forced to adopt a cane to walk. His family, all those people by whom he had been surrounded all his life, had drifted away. His uncles were long departed, and almost certainly both dead. His brother was slain, and his daughters scattered to the winds.

Tempest seemed to have noticed it too. They had always been close, more than close, perhaps, but he had felt her drawing even closer to him these last couple of years, as the first breath of mortality stirred. She was still beautiful - even by an objective standard, he thought - but both of them were closer to the grave than not. For the first time in his own life, he had started to feel his days remaining on this world were numbered.

And here he was to attend the coronation of a man older than him, a man who looked no older than Atheldynn. As he entered the Hall of Guarding and saw the ravaged features of Lady Alice, it drew a sharp intake of breath, another stark reminder of age and circumstance. She's younger than you, a treacherous voice reminded him.

He had eschewed purple for the occasion, and the usual saffron. They were his family colours, but age and experience had brought with it an appreciation of understatement. Tempest had enough purple in her hair for the pair of them, after all. He wore instead an array of carmine and black, fashioned from Nyroth silk and highland wool, surmounted with a cloak trimmed with ruddy lion fur, and a simple circlet of orichalcum atop his head. His cane was more striking, set with onyx and quartz. It was a relief, he allowed, finally to be in a country in the north which understood appropriate dress, and a sword was belted at his waist.

Eventually they approached Wayve himself, and Athelmere gave a respectful but slight bow, not wishing to risk his back. "Prince Wayve, an honour to see you again, and my thanks for inviting us here. Please accept our gifts and congratulations on your coronation."

He gestured to his retainers, and they stepped forward in turn to present their gifts. Atheldynn carried a large mithril axe in the Jarrland style, while Duke Wiltor presented a longbow and sheaf of arrows.

"We know your people greatly value prowess with martial arts, so we present you with examples of our own weapons from our finest smith and bowyer."

A young girl then made her way to the front of the group and held up two books. "My grand-daughter, Emryn, has illustrations of a different type of our prowess." The first book was an atlas, showing the work of Jarrland's finest mapmakers, while the second was a lavishly bound but tightly-printed book which turned out to be an exhaustive manual on the art of sailing and seafaring in general. The king gave a wry smile as that was noticed. "I apologise for the joke, but I couldn't resist."

Finally, a small, slight young woman with mottled pale skin presented a cedarwood box which, when opened, revealed a large egg. "This is an egg of the Huma, the royal bird of Tempestia," she explained. "It is held in great regard by our people and is presented to you as a token of our esteem."

Not sure if I'm going to spend an action on attending yet (probably not) but let me know if you have any good trade offers and I will consider it. The delegation here comprises:

Athelmere and Tempest, the king and queen (aged 69 and 63)
Atheldynn and Adrianna, their son and his wife (36 and 37)
Emryn, their daughter (9)
Duke Wiltor of Sunder (27)
Duke Radber and Duchess Talli of Vennland (66 and 50)
Neralla, Irearchon Esmanaxe of Tempestia (26)
Perrig, Aotrou a Kornog of Farridon (52)
Enzi, Krave enne Bertalo of Farridon (37)

This is meant to be my second post of the thread (After Reggie's post), but I accidently deleted it, whoops. So I put it here instead, my apologies for the confusion.

Most prominently the differences stood out in their wings even folded against their backs. They were darker than those of any other known Cloudiz, being nearly black and opaque at that and their insect-like quality seemed to have been blurred together with an appearance similar to the Aukii Bats of Yorukuni. If anyone approached however she would be forced to silence their gossiping and giggling, but for now she was content to simply watch the commotion and enjoy the occasion of her husband's coronation.

Wayve looked at the twins, a look of endearment in his eyes. As disciplined as his son was, his daughters were full of mischief. They inherited too much of his mother's side in that regard maybe. His mother and grandfather were always up for pulling pranks and having fun, unless the situation explicitly demanded it. He glanced sideways at his grandfather, who stood up and whispered something to the girls, which caused lots and lots of giggling appearently. Some things never changed. He looked at Valineth.

"I will rue the day that one of those two will take the Throne of Thornes," Wayve said jokingly. "Giggling at their guests might not be the help course of action later on in their career. They should take their brother as an example, the wellbehaved lad that he is."

He winked cheerfully at Rove, who turned red at this embassasment, mumbling something about faulty rolemodels and setting examples.
Maybe he some of that jokester blood in his after all. Who knew, maybe he would become the palace fool when he grew old. Wayve the Fool.
He chuckled at the thought of it. Today was going to be a good day.

Wayve stepped forward to greet Aluic, arms outstreched in greeting. He was clad in full gear, Akaitaiyo, Battleaxe of the Red Sun upon his back, gleaming a crimson red in the light of the Tanhedhan torches that lit the hall.

"The honor is mutual, my friend. I bid you welcome in the Kyuden."

He shook his head while shrugging.

"I'm afraid I'm no lord of any kind yet. The coronation is due later today. It would be rude not to wait until the majority of our guests have arrived, would it not? But I digress. This is the first time you have visited Kasumor and Earthhome, is it not? What is your opinion of the lands soon to be under my guidance? Did you encounter any obstacles upon your travels?"

Alice entered the gates slowly, limping, a cedar cane topped with a golden eagle in one hand. A short man, olive-skinned, waited anxiously at her elbow, no doubt waiting to catch her should she stumble. Three paces behind them were two guards, armored in light Mithras chain mail, both unarmed.

"Greetings, Prince Wayve Earthgaurd, Speaker Aluic. I apologize for my somewhat haggard appearance; fate conspired against me shortly before I departed my home."

Wayve's expression became worried when he saw and heared the Bordeuxians.

"Greetings, people of the Union. Fate can indeed be a cruel master sometimes. If you so wish, I could see you seated and comfortable, together with your companions. It would not speak of Prowess to leave one standing like this, especcially in your condition. The introductions can wait, if you would follow me? Speaker Aluic, you aswell if you please."

Wayve waved to a couple of servants nearby, who came rushing to help Alice if she would desire so.
Wayve continued:

"I know that Bordeux and Hurosha are not eachothers staunchest allies, but I hope our lands can at least retain the peace between them and respect one another."

"Is there anything we can do to help you feel more comfortable in your current condition?"

He led them to a large, round table standing at the right side of the hall and beckoned them to take a seat.

Wayve bowed respectfully for the old king, for with age comes experience and with experience comes Prowess. This was even more true for those who did not life as long as his people. The less time someone had, the faster his experience would accumulate. Or at least, that was his vision. Grimacing internally, he remembered his discussions with Bucka and Menhîrin scholars alike on the subject. Especcially Magnus was insistant that there was no link between lifespan and learning speed. Noticing his thoughts drifting, he refocused his attention on the Jarrland delegation.

"King Athelmere, the honour is all mine. I am humbled by the fact that you would travel all the way to here at your age. My respect for you never seems to stop growing every time we meet. I hope you will feel at home in the halls of the Kyuden for as long as you are willing to stay."

Testing the weapons the Jarr's presenting him, he swung the axe, nodding contently at the balance and weight of the weapon. When he was handed the bow, he inspected the weapon thoroughly, but after that, he hesitated and handed over the bow to one of the servants.

"I hope I do not offend you by not testing the bow, Lord Athelmere. My Prowess with a bow cannot be trusted, I have to shamefully admit."

A croocked smile appeared on his face.

"Last time I used one, the string snapped and recoiled straight into my face. That would make for quite a spectacle, wouldn't it? However, both the axe and the bow are fine works of art. I thank you."

His eyes widened at the sight of the contents of the atlas, and he appeared genuinly interested in the book about sailing.

"Oh, the joke is not lost on me, that's for sure." Wayve jokingly replied. "However, we have plenty of lakes in Hurosha and the Black Sea in Shikurai is vast. This book will provide us some insight from another perspective, that is for sure. The Prowess of your people is very impressive, my lord."

Being handed over the egg, a light appeared in his eyes.

"A Huma bird egg, you say? Well, this is certainly an honour! I will raise it to be a proud ambassador of your lands, for everyone to see." He winked at both Athelmere and the young woman. "I just hope it will get along with my Tanedhan. FLAGRA, COME!"

A cawing sounded from above, after which a Tanhedhan, the size of an eagle descended and landed on Wayve's shoulders. It nuzzled curiously at the egg.

"She has been lonely for quite some time, I am sure she will appreciate having a smaller sibling to take care of."

Well, if you are interested Aed, I got 1 stack of Kasumori insects or Tanedhan, if you can give me a good offer. I can also give you Brass, Fish, Stone, Iron, Lead, Quartz or Gold.

Wayve bowed curtiously, taking no risks to offend the Ashenians. Their relationship with Hurosha was unstable as it was.

"The pleasure is all mine, King Tansan of Ashenia. I am honoured you could make it together with your entourage. I know it must have been a difficult decision, with the history our two nations share. Let us hope this will be the beginning of a change of those relations."

Wayve eyes widened more with every gift presented. If Wayve was disturbed by the blood-scroll, his face did not show it.

"His last gift will not be in vain. The scroll will be perseved for all time, so that his Prowess may life on forever. In my eyes, his sacrifice is a great a tribute as I've ever seen."

Wayve did not know who or what this "Blood God" was, but he would show his respects to the man who had died to bring him this gift in the belief of being a worthy tribute. He had no right to deny the priest that last bit of respect.

The sword was beautiful, it's quality and grace undeniable.

"The swordsmith Yerithi Melath-Sho. I heard stories about her work, but this is the first time I've seen one of her blades in person. I thank you for this marvelous gift." He praised the blade before it was put away.

Wayve visibly gaped at the Phoenix Star for a moment before he regained his composure.

"A stone of that size?! And carved with such excellent craftsmanship? It will not only be a symbol of fire, but a symbol of Prowess itself."

He nodded at the cloak, having heard of the Voidbeasts, but unsure how to react to a given cloak made with the hides of such strange beings.

When King Tansan showed the burial shroud and explained its background, Wayve raised his eyebrows in surprise. After thinking for a dozen seconds, he finally spoke:

"I am honoured that you would do me the favour of presenting me with a honour normally only reserved for a monarch in your lands. You have my thanks for this gift. It will guard my throne until my Prowess fails me."

After the ceremony of gift giving was over, he beckoned the Ashenians to make themselves at home. Walking with King Tansan, he asked:

"My lord, if I may be so bold to ask, how do you see the relations between Hurosha and Ashenia from your perspective? My mother, the Empress, did not talk much about your lands and as such, I am unable to form a cohesive picture of the whole situation."

The last statement were lies, for his mother did talk about the Union. The problem was that it wasn't very positive. But as a Emperor, he had to see for himself what the other side of the story was, for his judgement would be lacking if I would not.

"None but overeager merchants," Aluic said with a smile, "Otherwise my travel was completely uninterrupted and it allowed me to appreciate the lands of Kasumor beyond what I ever have before. It reminds me greatly of Nyroth, but the mountains are much more plentiful. A beauty certainly if a bit cold for my Alorese blood. I should quite like to take the time to tour the rest of Hurosha's holdings. Perhaps I shall have the time when Speaker-ship no longer occupies so much of my time. I would invite you to join me in a return tour of the Triumvirate, but I should imagine and hope you yourself will be possessed with governance after today."

Aluic followed the Prince to the table and waited politely as the Bordeusi was attended to. As she was sat and Wayve moved to walk away Aluic stopped him with a hand on his shoulder.

"Prince Wayve," he said in a quiet voice, "I know it is not my place nor my blood that ought to carry forward this gift, but it was requested by Syana in her last will and testament and Dyamusan in Woodwind is too consumed with...his internal affairs to make any journey outside Woodwind," as he spoke he removed a small wooden box from his formal tunic.

"This was brought back to Woodwind by a Salterri traveler looking to immigrate north after the persecutions in Bor-Teire decades ago. It was kept by the Empress Syana in a private safe and was not well known outside the Ignato family," Aluic opened the box and revealed a glass cover pressed over a faded piece of pink lace that was pressed into a black silk cushion by the pressure of the glass plate.

Aluic's face remained neutral, "I am certain you have heard the stories of your grandfather and the Doomkhan of Woodwind and their adventures. No doubt you have heard of their journey to Salteire in simpler political times in pursuit of revenge against then governor Laan Qiing. I imagine you might have even heard of these things from your own grandfather. Well, as you no doubt heard the Doomkhan is said to have dressed as a woman to infiltrate Qing's keep, well," he paused to smile slightly in amusement but his face returned to a stone before he spoke again.

"It has been authenticated by a number of sources that this piece of lace is all that remains of the dress the Doomkhan wore. It may seem a silly gift, I thought the same of it myself at first, but Syana's words in her Will changed my mind. 'This,' she said, 'shows that every ruler has two sides. That even a warrior can be a spy. It shows no man is above a woman, and by extension no other intelligent being above another. But above all it shows that even a grand ruler must remember to have fun and to take risks." he finished with a sad smile and handed the gift to Wayve.

"It would honor the Ignato line and warm my own heart in remembrance of my friend Syana that you and Hurosha now house this piece. Let it act as a guide to you as it once did to our own great friend, Syana."

"The entirety of Faedas, if not the entirety of the north shall rue that day," Valineth smiled back, "I hope their brother might rub off on them eventually, but regrettably it seems the opposite is happening," she smiled at Rove, happy to be standing there with her family.

"Dear, should you like me to go and get your mother? I imagine she is done with her prayers and I imagine all the guests are eager to see her while she is still Empress," she smiled mischievously.

The AQUA delegation arrived. It was a large delegation, larger than most seen from AQUA. It was also one clearly uneasy with itself, travelling in three distinct clusters.

Leading the group was Opus, Regent of the Jeweled Cities. He looked barely 40, though he was in his late 60s. Beside him walked a younger Quill woman, her long hair braided in curls on each side of her head. Salix Caprea Denali, or “Sadie the Goat”, she was known. A linguist and scholar.

Next came a pair of younger men of mixed descent. John LaFitte, a Senior Council member, and his longtime friend Pierre Mason- recently appointed as the Triumvarite governor over The Emerald City area. Pierre walked with a man and a woman, one on each arm.

Lastly came two couples. Hawkeye Grumby, recently appointed Captain Administrator of the Emerald City in Woodwind travelled with his wife Doris Robson and their five year old child. Tumberink Grumby, storied late age son of the famous Pirate king and his Salterri wife Huang Pei Mei each held a hand of their two year old child.

When they reached the Ambassadors, Opus greeted each one in turn, praising their Prowess as well. Clearly, the man was well informed on each one. As they followed Griend, Doris could not help herself, “Ambassador, perhaps we could find some time for a game of chess? Our last match taught me much.”

As they approached the Prince, the entourage fell back, leaving the three sets of two to formally greet the man. Opus spoke, “Prince Wayve Earthgaurd, Greetings! We of AQUA are deeply honored to be invited here for this grand event. The Prowess of mind, body, and spirit of your people is truly beyond measure. Such a city, such a palace! Words truly cannot encompass it.”

John LaFiite spoke next, “We present you with a small gift, to honor our realms long standing friendship.” He opened a box and removed a small wooden ship of wood, silk, and mithril 7 links long. Lighting four small wicks on the top of the ship, he slowly released it. The ship floated in the air, slowly turning in a long circle. “For twenty years, our two realms, along with Guilder, labored to unlock the mysteries of a similar gift from the Blazing Avatar. While our dreams went unfulfilled, it gave rise to our monastic aeromancers. In gratitude, they crafted this for you.”

Tumberink spoke last, “A few of us, we hava had the priveledge to study some of your combat forms. Our finest craftsmen labored to create this halberd for you, designed specifically for the Uzushio style.” The halberd was an elegant combination of hardwoods, adamantine, and Niskovian starmetal. It was inlayed with precious and semi-precious stones and metals. Classical portrayals of Cloudiz in battle were etched into it.

Of the three groups, Hawkeye’s group is probably best known in Hurosha. Hawkeye, Tumberink, and Doris competed in several Raaneki games, and Doris in that Prowess festival a few rounds back. Opus is known by reputation. Not a fighter, but a clever, clever man who not only survived a five year civil war, but managed to become Regent. There are rumors, however, that he is part of the Deciever cult who are known assassins. The other three- the young Quill sage, Huang Pei Mei, and the two mixed bloods, are relatively unknown outside of pirate circles

I had plan to make a listing of all the positions being filled by various folks throughout the Triumvirate's new bureaucracy in my actions this round and am going to go ahead and place Pierre in Governor of EC so assume he's got the title already just as a heads up and to make our interactions make sense.

Also, what's your current trade post set up in AQUA?

"King Athelmere, the honour is all mine. I am humbled by the fact that you would travel all the way to here at your age. My respect for you never seems to stop growing every time we meet. I hope you will feel at home in the halls of the Kyuden for as long as you are willing to stay."

"Ah, I'm not as old as all that," he said with a slight wink. "Not yet seventy, even! A mere stripling compared to some, although time has taken its toll indeed. I never did much enjoy travelling by horse, it shakes your bones about terribly. I'm starting to see the purpose of your hovercrafts."

"I take no offence," he said with a smile. "I was never much of an archer myself, in all honesty. I left that to my cousin and my sister."

"I am flattered you consider it so. My father felt that we were little more than children compared to the great peoples of the north and much of the rest of the Imperium, and made it his life's work to try to improve on that condition. I have done my best to continue his efforts, though we still have a long way to go. My people have become fine sailors, I think, but we owe all of it to Regina Amber and Queen Anguri - and Queen Tempest, of course," he added quickly after she nudged him in the ribs. "Without their help and generosity I suspect we would still be grubbing up and down the coast in fishing dinghies, dreaming of the open ocean."

Neralla smiled. "I am sure they will get along very well, my lord, although it may not remain a smaller sibling for long. In time it should grow almost large enough to ride."

I'm ok for most of those, I think; I wouldn't say no to Brass but I plan to Cur5 something similar imminently anyway. In any case the only things I have available to trade at the moment are Toma Nuts, Dyes and... Quartz.

The AQUA delegation arrived. It was a large delegation, larger than most seen from AQUA. It was also one clearly uneasy with itself, travelling in three distinct clusters.
Once the business of greeting the host was done, Athelmere and his immediate family headed over to the AQUA delegates. Doing his best to ignore Opus, the king approached Hawkeye and Tumberink and grinned broadly.

"Hawkeye! Tumberink! It is so good to see you again!" He nodded to Doris with a smile. "I don't believe we've met, but I remember you from the caragita. Allow me to introduce my family: this is Tempest, Tumberink's niece, of course, our son Atheldynn, his wife Adrianna, and-" he beckoned for the young girl to step out from behind her parents- "my grand-daughter, Emryn. But who is this charming lady, Tumberink? And these young scamps?"

Wayve bowed curtiously, taking no risks to offend the Ashenians. Their relationship with Hurosha was unstable as it was.

The last statement were lies, for his mother did talk about the Union. The problem was that it wasn't very positive. But as a Emperor, he had to see for himself what the other side of the story was, for his judgement would be lacking if I would not.

"The High Priest Azhen will be glad to hear that he shall be remembered in a land so distant from the one of his birth."
That is, if the one hundred and twelve year old man survived long enough to receive a message. Opening his veins to compose the scroll was taxing for one of his age, even if he had once survived a ritual of exsanguination.
"I was not aware that word of Yerithi Melath-Sho's skill had reached this far. That her merit receives praise from the court of a distant monarch will no doubt enhance the reputation of all Lacertian smiths."
Tansan smiled as Wayve examined the Phoenix Star.
"I admit that I coveted it myself, but am glad that I was able to resist such temptation. Perhaps the ultimate Prowess is the triumph over one's self, but less not get overly philosophical."
He bowed his head respectfully as Wayve thanked him for the shroud.
"I was concerned at first that such a gift would be considered in poor taste for what is an occasion of celebration. But I was uncertain of the coronation rites of other realms so did not know what gift would be most appropriate from a King to another soon to take up the same responsibilities."
The King walked with Wayve as his servants packed the gifts back into their chests and discussed where to move them to with the Huroshan servants. His daughter walked at his side and his guards fell into two lines behind him.
"As near as I can tell, our realms have no relations, merely a mutual state of distrust. However, we both value peace, so that gives hope for the future."

Pierre is governor now. I wan’t sure when that was happening in comparison to this event. Thanks for the clarification. Even more reason for their to be internal tension in the delegation.
As far as trading posts- I have promised 1 for Tar (in Tar) and 1 for kelp-olive oil (in the Jeweled Cities) to The Salterri. But they haven’t built them yet- likely due to that nasty war-thing popping up.

"Once the business of greeting the host was done, Athelmere and his immediate family headed over to the AQUA delegates. Doing his best to ignore Opus, the king approached Hawkeye and Tumberink and grinned broadly.

"[COLOR="#800080"]Hawkeye!

It is actually quite easy for the Jarrow to keep away from the unsavory elements of the AQUA delegation. The three separate groups are managing to stay quite separated.

Tumberink replied, “King Athelmere, your family needs no introduction! My travels may never have brought me to your court, but most certainly to your lands. Queen Tempest, your statue still does not do you justice! Dad was a fool to go off adventuring without your grandma Ginger.” Realizing he had just inadvertently flirted with his own step-niece, he hastily changed the subject. “Huang Pei Mei, she is a long time friend and competitor in the freelance cargo business. We met again at the Raaneki games, and have been together ever since.”

Huang Pei-Mei bowed and spoke quietly, “He owed me for a couple of my ships and their cargo. I thought marrying him was a fair trade.”

“Me, I got the better of that deal. Two fine ships for one broken wreck.” Tumberink laughed, pointing at himself.

Tumberink went on to introduce his child and Hawkeye’s child as well. As he spoke, King Athelemere realized where he knew the woman from. She was a notorious pirate along the southern coasts of Salterri lands. Except for his lands, of course, though his navy had chased her ships a few times.

"Dyamus' dress huh?" A voice said behind Wayve and Aluic. Marius came up to them, walking without any support despite his 129 years of age.

"I'm afraid that would be a lie." Marius grinned his teeth, half of them made out of Shintouite. "You wouldn't think I would neglect to take a token of one of my best friends to remember him by? As it is, I have a present that would be quite fitting to give with yours, lord Aluic."

From the faulds of his cloak, Marius produced a book. Not a scroll like usual in Kasumor, but a genuine book. Its front was plated with a layer of quartz, behind which another piece of pink lace, much smaller than Aluic's, could be seen. It appeared to have been part of the same piece of the dress. The title read: Tales of the Past, The Last March of a Bunch of Fools.

"This is a diary of sorts, detailing all the lands I have seen, all the things I have encountered. Details of the assasination of that fool, Qiing are written in there, together with why the Khan wore a pink dress in the first place. Trust me, Wayve. This will be a good read."

Wayve stared at the two artifacts, being lost for words. Finally, he said:

"Lord Aluic, grandfather, thank you for your remarkable gifts. I will treasure these gifts, to keep me on the right path, remembering both the mistakes and the achievements of those "Fools" that came before me."

Wayve nodded affirmatively.

"Indeed it does. As such, I want to suggest a start for this to happen. Could I interest you in an exchange of wards? Letting members of the Royal family learn at eachothers Academies. I heard that the teaching system in Ashenia is quite advanced. We of Hurosha are very proud of our Academy aswel, so this should be beneficial for both parties."

John LaFitte, a Senior Council member, and his aide Pierre Mason.

*Grïend to Doris*

Upon hearing the challenge, Grïend let out a booming laugh, startling a few servents who walked by. In his myrth, he forgot to soften his voice.

"I WILL...ACCEPT YOUR...CHALLENGE...MY LADY...HOWEVER...I'M AFRAID I CAN'T...PROVIDE ENOUGH...MENHÎRIN...SO IT MUST BE...NORMAL CHESS..."

*Wayve's Answer*

Wayve saluted the delegation in greeting.

"You flatter me, Lord Opus. I am sure that there are cities upon Telluris more magnificent than our humble capital."

His son gave him a kick against his shins, and he quickly continued.

"I hope your stay here will be to your every liking."

At the sight of the flying boat, Wayve's jaw dropped.

"The magnificence of the gifts that I am priviledged to get keep getting bigger and bigger. I had heard rumours about the artifact ship, but to actually own one was a vision beyond my wildest dreams. You have my gratitude for presenting me this miracle! But even more so, it was an honour for us to work together with you on that project, my lords. I can assure you that the Bucka would do it all over again if they had the chance. They were quite motivated, I've heard."

At the sight of the halberd, Wayve smiled internally. If this didn't let up, he would be a walking armoury at the end of the day. But with the reputation Hurosha had, it probably couldn't be helped. As least there would not be a shortage of good weapons.
He whirled the spear around, knowing the basics of the style it was made for. As far as he could feel, the weapon suited the style perfectly. Also, the engravings fascinated him, pictures of his ancestors waging battle.

"The craftmanship of both the engravings and the weapon itself are quite remarkable. This would make a worthy addition to any lords arsenal. I thank you for these marvelous gifts."

OOC: Oh god, I can't really refuse without RPing Wayve OOC. I hope that you know what you are doing Reggie :P. This could get nasty.

Wayve smiled back at his wife.

"I suppose you could, my sweet. She should've been here already. Are you sure you want to take your leave though? My mother is probably engaged in a conversation with a maid or something. Are you sure you can leave those two alone."

He nodded at the twins who were still caught up in their gossiping.

"I could send one of the Ambassadors after her instead, if you would so prefer?"

"I take no offence," he said with a smile. "I was never much of an archer myself, in all honesty. I left that to my cousin and my sister."

Neralla smiled. "I am sure they will get along very well, my lord, although it may not remain a smaller sibling for long. In time it should grow almost large enough to ride."

[spoiler=OOC]I'm ok for most of those, I think; I wouldn't say no to Brass but I plan to Cur5 something similar imminently anyway. In any case the only things I have available to trade at the moment are Toma Nuts, Dyes and... Quartz.

This old king has a good sense of humour, Wayve thought.

"Well, if you would so wish, I could arrange hover transport back to Jarrland, if that is more convenient."

Half joking, half serious he said:

"With some help, we could even connect Jarrland to the Hovertrain network."

Wayve let out a hearthy laugh after the sailing comments.

"Well, it's better than our situation here. We can't even see the oceans in our dreams anymore. Kind of makes you wonder why the Cloudiz have fish tails when there isn't an ocean around to swim in."

Wayve winked cheerfully.

"With your leave, maybe I should see how its like to be a sailor myself if I could find the time. To learn and experience it from the best."

"Well, maybe smaller in experience. But a Huma bird grows large enough to ride, you say? Interesting. I wonder what the differences in riding style are with Mantid or Dragonfly riding...."

Hhhmm, what about Toma Nuts for Stone, Iron or Gold?

*A short while after most of the delegations arrived*

A guard rushes in towards Marius Earthguard, hastly saluting him and whispering something. Upon hearing what the guard has to say, Marius turns bleak, his eyes widen with shock. He then apologizes to anyone with who he might be talking with and hastly makes his way out, together with his wife Helena.

OOC to everyone interested in Trade!:

I can offer 1 stack of Kasumori insects, Brass, Lead or Tanedhan, if anyone can give me a good offer for those. I can also offer Fish, Stone, Iron, Quartz or Gold.

Aluic stood in silent appreciation as the ancient former Shinguard spoke and presented his own gift. He was shocked by its appearance, and pleased that the styling of artifacts appeared to originate from the same dress. He didn't know what to say, feeling both at once included by excluded from the connection of the gifts. Syana had been his own best friend and seeing the look on Marius' own face and the look on his descendant's he felt connected through shared experience and hoped one day his own grandchildren might find friendship in one of the Ignato line.

"I know that Syana is looking upon this occasion with a smile," Aluic said at last, "I am happy to have served even a minor role in it all and to be included in the gift of your grandfather," he bowed to Marius, "But I intrude on your time too much already, you'll excuse me Prince Wayve, Shinguard Marius there are yet others I must greet." he bowed to each in turn and departed their company.

*****************************

As Aluic drifted through the hall he caught site of a familiar face and began to make his way towards the man.

"Governor Mason!" he said with a smile and approached the AQUA man, "Councilman LaFitte as well! A pleasure to see you both, and outside Emerald City for once!" he laughed, "You'll excuse me," he said looking at the man and woman hanging on Pierre's arm, "I'm afraid I haven't had the honor."

I'd like to trade tropical fruit for brass, if I could. Brass and ships go well together.

Pieere Mason introduced the pair. The man was from Woodwind, the third son of a minor noble who made their home near to the Emerald city. “He has been ever so helpful as I transitioned into my new role and with all the changes underway in the Triumvarite. Just the kind of man I need on my staff.”
He introduced the woman. She was a well educated daughter of a wealthy Celerese merchant. “AQUA has so many contacts in so many lands, I needed someone with a flair for languages. She has quite the talent for tongues.”

Aluic couldn’t help but notice a few things as Pierre spoke. First, the pair were both younger than him by about a decade. Second, the double entendres caused both to blush profusely and react in a way that suggested far more than professional attachment.

Aluic nodded and smiled politely to both, "A pleasure to meet you both," he said simply avoiding being drawn into the dance Aquans and the Raaneki so enjoyed.

"Governor, I had hoped to speak with you after the Speaker's election but now seems just as good a time as any, perhaps moreso that you are here Councilman LaFitte," he said looking over at the Councilman.

"Your burgeoning administration in the Emerald is already beginning to see profits and trade rise and more and more people are moving to the city to make their fortunes. I would like to keep this trend going and to that end I would ask you to speak with the Council in AQUA about a proposed deal. We in the Triumvirate would like permission to build a trading post in the Jeweled Cities for your famed Tropical Fruits with importation done through Emerald City and continued on to Aloren, in return for this permission the Triumvirate would wish to offer AQUA a trading post in Woodwind itself with exportation through the Emerald so that Emerald City might still blossom greater through a local trade alongside the silk brought down through its port from Nyroth Province."

““The proposal certainly has merit. AQUA is willing to allow a formal trading post in our lands. The Triumvirate can get the best produce at the lowest prices,” responded Councilman LaFitte.

“And the Emerald City and the immediate vicinity has seen tremendous growth and wealth as a seaport for goods from all over the eastern continent,” added Governor Mason.

““We can do more than just increase wealth. The craftspeople of Hrathan-Tuor are an underutilized gem. AQUA could built a trading post there to export finished goods. Bring their mastery to a wider audience.”

Pierre nodded, “By shipping them to the Emerald City for distribution, we would improve access to customers from the Western Continent and Northern regions as well. This would encourage the craftspeople to set up shops in the Emerald city for everyday customers.”

““The guilds reach and influence would grow. They’d probably support that. But with both the Captain-Administrator and Governor, their true influence would be marginal.”

“OF course, AQUA wouldn’t want to be seen as playing in Triumvirate politics, but such a thing could be seen as a win for the ‘former’ power structure, helping to ease the transition. It also is a win for the common craftsman, giving them larger access to markets and a chance at greater freedom.”

Aluic's lip curled as he contemplated the offer. This was the game he enjoyed.

The Guilds were a constant presence, many Senators from throughout the Triumvirate belonged to one of the Guilds which had expanded over the years. All of the Senators from Hrathan-Tuor were Guildmembers or former Guildmembers and Baldr Midigil was said to even have connections with the Oldest Guild. It would pay off quite handsomely for Aluic if he could negotiate an expanded market for their more basic wares. Many in Hrathan-Tuor were still hesitant to support him with the Speaker having traditionally been of Hrathan-Tuorkey descent, getting them this deal could secure him their support this election as well laying the groundwork for their support in five more years.

Equally keeping the Guild out of direct governance but allowing their expanse would ease the tension of their demand for expansion and Aluic and the Triad Council's hesitance to give the Guilds too much power. They were after all largely in control of the Triumvirate's organized crime, keeping them happy without making open concessions would be a wise move internally.

"A Triumvirate trading post in the Cities for fruits and an AQUA post in Hrathan-Tuor for the Guilds' fine crafts, all shipped through Emerald City. You have yourself a deal," he put out his hand to the Councilman first and then to the Governor, "We'll begin construction from our end as soon as possible. A pleasure as always, and I trust you'll inform the Captain Administrator as well?"

With that Valineth began to make her way towards the doors leading away from the main hall and towards the shrine of Ashmar she suspected the Empress Nyllana to still be near.

"We'll begin construction from our end as soon as possible. A pleasure as always, and I trust you'll inform the Captain Administrator as well?"

“We will inform him of his council's decision." Councilman LaFitte said, perhaps a bit more tersely than he intended. He smiled and lightened his tone, “Perhaps you and I should go and find a nice vintage of Raanekan Heartwine to toast this agreement? Ladies, gentlemen, we will be back shortly." He said to the governor and his entourage.

As the councilmember and Aluic stepped away, the two associates of the Governor looked at him puzzlingly. “I do so love this game. We get the credit at home for the luxury goods, and Hawkeye Dumby gets an influx of experienced criminals to deal with. I can't wait to tell him!” said Governor Mason, a positively evil smile upon his face.

"Ah yes, I have heard a great deal about Captain Huang's freelance cargo business. She sounds like a suitable match for an islander, Tumberink. But if you plan to continue... trading within the Imperium's waters, do be aware of the Qzare's consort; she used to fancy herself as a pirate and I suspect hasn't entirely grown out of that. I shouldn't want there to be bloodshed within the family." His eyes twinkled slightly. "Although I do believe the Priory of Ascension maintains no navy at all."

"That's what I've heard," Tempest agreed.

"Which is just irresponsible, frankly. It's practically asking for their shipping lanes to be raided, especially since I shouldn't imagine the Imperial navy would be too keen to lend a hand any more."

[ooc: it was intended as an introduction to Doris; I know Tumberink and Hawkeye know who Tempest et al are! :smalltongue:]

"With your leave, maybe I should see how its like to be a sailor myself if I could find the time. To learn and experience it from the best."

Hhhmm, what about Toma Nuts for Stone, Iron or Gold?
"We're happy to make the journey by ship, but I suspect the Queen and I at least would appreciate a hover journey back to the coast, if nothing else to see what these crafts are like. For some reason the rolling of a ship's deck is perfectly tolerable - although it did make my father rather sick, if I am honest - but the rolling of a horse's back is becoming increasingly irritating."

He smiled at Wayve's suggestion that he might learn to sail. "It seems to be a curse of sovereigns that they have more plans than time. There are so many things I would have wished to have learned, and never been able to create the opportunity. Still, if you would like to learn, I would be happy to arrange for some of our sailors to teach you." He glanced at Tempest. "Though if you wish to learn from the best I must admit the Jewelled Cities pilots are still that, even if we're no longer on friendly terms with their masters."

"Well, maybe smaller in experience. But a Huma bird grows large enough to ride, you say? Interesting. I wonder what the differences in riding style are with Mantid or Dragonfly riding...."
"Certainly large enough for a small or light person," Neralla said. "One of my people, or a goblin, say, should have little trouble being carried by a mature huma after a few years. Humans tend to be too heavy for all but the very largest of the birds. The main difficulty is in getting close enough to try, since we do not tend to keep them as tame birds in my homeland. I would be interested to see the differences in flight between one of the huma and a giant insect, though. I suspect the insects will be able to turn more quickly and sharply; the huma like to soar."

I have Stone and Iron as native resources and am already importing Gold but another source of some of that might be wortwhile. I'll have a think about it.

I think this is a decent cutoff point for this conversation though I will have some IC discussion stuff regarding criminals that I want to talk about at the Regata event. Nothing against them, in fact some ideas we Triads are discussing about the direction we're gonna take our criminal underworld and talking about working our criminals together sort of since economics and underhanded politics seems to be where we're developing our ties. Which I love by the way :smallwink:

OOC: I don't but that's never stopped me before :P

"I'm sure their grandfather can look after them," she smiled with a wicked glint in her eye, "And I could do with the stretching of my legs, they'll be time enough for sitting once the coronation gets underway, besides I wanted to speak with your mother anyway before the coronation."

With that Valineth began to make her way towards the doors leading away from the main hall and towards the shrine of Ashmar she suspected the Empress Nyllana to still be near.

OOC: Feel free to let me know what she sees/hears when she gets there/gets close and if you have to take over Val for a little bit for minor reactions or what have you feel free :)

OOC: I like your style! One mini Venture coming up.

As Valineth walks through the vast corridors of the Kyuden, nodding dignified to the servants and guards that walked swiftly past. Approaching the main garden of the Kyuden, she notices Marius Earthguard leading a contingent of guards through the collumn hallway leading away from the shrine of Ashmar, a stern expression upon his old face. He nor the guards seem to notice Valineth, seeming quite hurried. On the ground Valineth notices a pool of crimson blood and a red trail that leads in the direction Marius and his guards are walking.

"A travel to the ocean by hovercraft it is then. I'll make the arrangements later tonight."

"Well, to be totally honest with you, I am very interested in the lands of the Salterri and their vassals. I've heard some good stories from my grandfather, but as a wise Cloudiz once said, seeing is believing. Would it be possible to gain your permission to visit the lands of Jarrow at a later date?"

A mischievous grin appeared on Wayve's face.

"A challenge? Very good! Once the chick is matured, I will investigate this matter. The results of this research should prove to be quite interesting indeed."

If you want, I can throw in Lead or Fish in the mix instead of Iron or Stone.

I am already importing fruit from you to Kasumor, so I will agree if you send the fruit to Zargrim.

Meanwhile.....

Eventually, the darkness faded. Nyllana opened her eyes, lying face up on the ground under the open sky, snow white clouds slowly drifting above her. The smell of grass and dirt permeated her nose. Confused and dazed, she set up and looked around. She sat upon a island in a vast ocean of air, floating amidst other islands of varying sizes. The island she sat on appeared to be one of the larger ones, about as long as 50 mantid lengths and 30 lengths wide. The view of solid ground below her, if there was any in the first place, was obstructed by a thick layer of clouds, moving rapidly and erraticly.

"Where am I? What in Ashmar's name happened?" She murmured.

Then, with a shock, she remembered what happened in the Vault. Grasping her chest, she looked down. There was no wound, no blood, no pain, nothing.

"Where you are? You're in the spirit world miss. And what happened, you got impaled, badly." A voice behind her said.

Nyllana whirled around, unsheathing Aonami, ready for combat. Upon a large rock sat a man, appearing around 40 human years old. He was clad in a pitch black tunic, covered by an embossed leather jerkin, one shoulder covered by a ornate shoulderpiece of a material with a reddish hue she could not identify. His legs were covered in metal plating of the same material. Upon his lap lay a greatsword, unhilted, made out of two blades as one: a brownish part which seemed to resemble a crystal and a crimson part resembling a flame. He sat upon the rock in a casual manner, observing her with a hint of amusement in his eyes. Which were maybe the strangest part of the man's appearence. One half blue, one half white, seemingly whirling around eachother, as if dancing (OOC: bassically a blue-white Yin-Yang with a pupil in the middle).

"Quite a feisty one, aren't you, my lady? The place were you come from must be quite the dangerous place for you to be so on edge." He said jokingly, picking up his greatsword and jumping 4 meters down with catlike grace.

Nyllana stayed vigilant and kept her distance. "You said we are at the spiritworld, what did you mean by that, Stranger?"

The Stranger laughed: "That impalement left quite a mark upon your Prowess I see. Plain and simple, lady Nyllana. We are in the spiritworld." He sarcastically added: "Would you want a tour?"

"How do you know my name? Who are you?"

Suddenly the extent of his other remarks made sense to Nyllana. Cold fingers grasped her heart, her breath stopped for a moment. She lowered her weapon, the sense of total defeat washing over her.

"The impalement.. Am I dead? Is this the afterlife?"

The Stranger's smile faded: "Both yes and no, my lady. Your body is on the verge of death, kept alive by the Aspect. However, I would guess you have around half an hour before your body's primary functions fail."

Nyllana lowered her weapon, panic taking hold of her mind.

"I-i-i-i-is there anything I can do from here? ANYTHING?!?! Can you help me? Can anyone here help me?"

The Stranger burst into laughter.

"Don't fret, my lady. For I am the gatekeeper of this place. I can stop you decent into death with the flick of my finger. Alas, there are restrictions to this power. Only those who are worthy can recieve a second chance. Prove yourself, Nyllana Earthguard. Fight me and prove your Prowess is great enough to be spared. Have at you!"

With those words, he clutched his greatsword in two hands, assuming a defensive position in a style she could not recognize.

There was a chance that she could survive this ordeal. If she defeated this man, her life would continue, her Prowess intact. She regained her composure, bringing her weapon up once again. However, there was something abnormal about her opponent that she couldn't place. But that did not change the situation. She had to win this fight.
Nyllana swallowed, assuming an offensive position. A fight for her life. If she would lose, her soul would decent into death. If she won, she would accend from this place, alive once again. Her goal clear in her mind, she took to the sky, Aonami whirling around in a blue whirlpool of death, as she dove towards her opponent.

"Shinguard Marius!" she shouted as she hurried to catch up, "What is going on!?" she asked as they made their way briskly down the hall

"Shinguard Marius!" she shouted as she hurried to catch up, "What is going on!?" she asked as they made their way briskly down the hall

Marius turned to face Valineth. Clearly he did not expect her to be there. He took a look at the blood, probably deciding it was best to spill the beans.

"My lady Valineth. There has been reports of fighting in the Vault. I was asked by our Empress to make my way to the vault with as many guards as I could muster in this small amount of time. Nyllana herself already went ahead to the Vault to coordinate things further."

His face grew stern.

"I must ask you to keep this event a secret, my lady. It can only cause mayhem and panic if our guests would know something is happening. Not to speak of the destroyed relations between Hurosha and other realms."

He stroked his beard, momentarily in thought.

"Maybe it would be better for you to go with us, Valineth. You will be safe with this many guards and we have no idea what is going on. As far as we know, an assasin could be on the loose, trying to get rid of the Aspect or the royal family. Don't fret though, I send as trice as many guards as you see here to safeguard the Hall of Guarding. The guests, Wayve and my grandchildren will be as safe as can be."

*Assuming Valineth keeping walking with Marius*

As they entered the Vault, Valineth saw the beast they call the Aspect sitting in the middle, seemingly at rest, unmoving. Two dozen guards lay unconcious on the ground. Someone was sitting on its back, embracing the tail. Taking a closer look, she saw that that someone was the Empress, the Aspect's stinger impaled through her sternum. However, she seemed to be breathing steadily, and sat upon the Aspect's carapace, as if in a prayer. The view as a whole was quite bizare.

Meanwhile....

Exhausted, Nyllana fell back. None of her attack had hit true. Moreover, she had not even be able to let the Stranger take a step back in defense. Her every attack was parried perfectly, deflected harmlessly or dodge. Even though she was exhausted due to her extended assault, the Stranger did not even break a sweat, or so it seemed. And that smile.....the entire time, a small confident smile was upon his lips, the same smile as an adult amused by a toddler attacking him with a toy sword. She was furious, but her energy was running out fast. Taking on a more defensive posture, she awaited the Stranger's reaction instead.

The Stranger raised an eyebrow. "Done already? Well, I guess it is my turn now."

The next moment, within the blink of an eye, he stood before her. A wave of panic washing over her, she tried to block the weapon. With a small, playfull flick of his weapon, he knocked away Aonami, after which he rammed the pummel of his greatsword into Nyllana's stomach with a force that send her flying against the rocks behind her. As she slid down, all her hope was lost. She wouldn't be able to pull through, she would be stuck within this realm forever, leaving all those that she loved behind. She failed, her Prowess was not big enough. The Stranger walked to her, greatsword in hand.

"Nyllana Earthguard, Eienguard of Kasumor, Empress of Hurosha. The Empress of Light. A excellent negotiator, warrior and mother. Made Head Priestess of the Ashmar religion by her father."

He raised his sword, ready to deliver the finishing blow.

"But what you lack is...."

"YOU STOP HARRASHING MY DAUGHTER RIGHT NOW!!"

Suddenly, a familiar black blade cleaved through her vision, the shockwave of the attack wipping up the dust beside her and pushing the Stranger back. That voice, that sword, it couldn't be....

Marius Earthguard strode into view, blocking the Stranger from attacking her. He looked as if he were 30 years old again, at the peak of his power. He looked very very mad.

"It's not wise to harrass somebody daughter right in front of them lad. I'm afraid I have to punish you for that."

The Stranger laughted. "What, you alone? Your Prowess is great, Marius, but you can't beat me by yourself."

Marius laughed back. "Do you take me for a fool, lad? I did not come alone. Come on out people! Let's give him what he deserves."

Nyllana's eyes shot wide open, her jaw dropped at the sight that unfolded before her. Her mother, Helena, strode into view, epée in hand. Her brother, Riphal, who died at the grand ball, walked beside her, clad in an adamantine full plate, equiped with his trusty kasarigama and towershield. And finally, her deceased husband, Iconeh, walked to her, kissed her hand, and whispered:

"It's going to be alright, my dear. Just leave this to us for the moment. Just be....ready."

All of them were in the prime of their life, geared up in full plate of shimmering adamentine, their favorite weapons ready for battle.

Iconeh winked, taking his bow from his back, nocking an arrow upon it, ready to fire.

The Stranger observed this with a mocking smile.

"How touching, can we get this party started how, o great warriors?"

At those words, Marius smiled, saying nothing and suddenly charged the Stranger. Their greatswords clashed with a thundering sound, the pressure wave from the clash clearly visible. The started to exchange blows, faster and faster, delivering and parrying strikes that were too fast to follow. The others took positions around the duel, ready to exploit an opening.
Despite Marius' efforts, the Stranger held his own, even finding time to speak.

"Marius Earthguard, first of his name. The Shïnguard of Origins. The one that befriended the Goblins, marking the first expansion of the Kasumori in over two centuries. The one who discovered the old faith and lay the foundations of its return. A great man indeed. However what you are lacking is......"

With a speed even too great for the former Shïnguard to match, he duck under Marius' blow, his greatsword arcing up to strike the base of Kuroyume's blade.

"Ingenuity."

As the blow connected, Kuroyume's blade shattered into countless black pieces, Marius himself being knocked down, defeated.

With a feral scream, Riphal charged in, shield first. The Stranger looked at him and spoke once again.

"Riphal Earthguard. Brother of the Empress and husband to the Princess of Tekorva. A great fighter, husband and inventor. However, what you are lacking is..."

Riphal charged into the Strangers reach, and with a single swipe of his blade, he destroyed Riphal's towershield, cripling Riphal's arm while he fell to the ground, writhing in pain.

"Faith."

An arrow whizzed past the Strangers head as he turned around to face his next opponent. Iconeh was unleashing every arrow he got at his, but the arrows themselves seemed to have a mind of their own, each of them unable to hit the Stranger.

"Iconeh of Gunung. Husband to the Empress and Prince of Gunung. A great diplomat, with a cunning and sharp mind. However, what you are lacking is..."

The Stranger charged Iconeh, with such speed that Helena could not block him from reached Iconeh. He struck his bow clean in two, after which he kicked Iconeh away from him, the archer made harmless.

"Confidence."

Helena was the last one standing, taking a defensive posture, seeing that every attack failed. The Stranger chuckled as he walked towards her.

"Oh, Helena Earthguard. Wife to Marius Earthguard, the Shïnguard of Origins. A stern, but loving wife, keeping Marius on the right path. Good with an epée aswel. However, what you lack is..."

He swung his blade in a lazy arc, causing Helena to dodge it. When she was jumping back, the Stranger made use of that opening to get close and swat the weapon out of her hand, after which he delivered a backhand slap in her face. She fell down to the ground, defeated.

"Bravery."

Seeying her family laying on the ground, utterly defeated, she began to sob, tears rolling over her cheeks. It was over, all over.
The Stranger strode to her, sword held high, like an executioner.

"Nyllana Earthguard, Eienguard of Kasumor, Empress of Hurosha. What you lack is..."

Suddenly, from behind the Stranger, two muscular arms grabbed him around his torso. Marius' grinning face appeared above his shoulder.

"WHAT YOU LACK IS....VIGILANCE!"

Riphal and Iconeh grabbed his arms, leaving him right open. Helena was standing up, shouting at Nyllana.

"Finish him, my daughter. Take this chance. YOU DO NOT STAND ALONE!"

The words of her mother awoke her from her missery, clearing her clouded mind, leaving her goal as crystalclear as an open sky.
With a roar, she fly up higher and higher, the warm sun against her back, then dove at the Stranger with the point of her halberd aimed at the Stranger's chest. Her father began to sing, a song of war, a song of victory.

When we face our final hour, our spirits adrift,
Come what ever may, we'll be the death of you!
After channeling our Prowess,
Your end will be swift!
Now there's nothing in our way,
YOU FEEL THE EMPIRE'S GRASP!

The Stranger was struggling to get free, but alas, as fast and powerful as he was, he couldn't match the strenght of three men considered among the best of Hurosha.
With a final thrust, the tip of her halberd struck the Stranger's chest, upon which the Stranger exploded with a bright, white light, upon which her mind faded into black once again.

Also, I love the prowess afterlife stuff!! Partially because it is good writing, and partially because it fit so well with my own mythology. The stranger could very well be Khaditna the Deceiver testing the intentions of her soul.

"What in the name of Ashmar..." she breathed, "Is the Empress alright?" Valineth asked, with a step towards her mother in law's body.

"We have to do something! That thing is going to kill her!" She looked desperately at Marius for an answer.

"While I understand the value behind an exchange of wards, I cannot agree at this time. My children are all adults and my grandchildren far too young for me to be comfortable with ordering their parents to send them abroad for education. However, our universities are open to all foreigners who pass the entrance examinations. Unless of course, they violate our laws.
"This of course brings up another matter. My grandmother's decree forbidding the practice of Ashmarism is perhaps a matter that causes concern among your people. I do apologise for her actions, she acted with haste and little knowledge concerning the nature of your faith. Unlike her, I am aware that it is not a simple branch of the Doctrine of Fire, but a separate faith with none of its dangerous elements. To this end, I have decided to amend the original decree and legitimise Ashmarism within the Kingdom of Ashenia."

*EVENT*

A minor earthquake strikes the Kyuden. It is not strong enough to cause any serieus damage but a few glasses that fall off the edge of the dinner table. Outside, a sudden storm is visible, although you thought you remembered it being clear skies mere minutes ago. Wayve stand up and calls for your attention. On his back, his relic weapon pulses with a soft red light, which he does not notice, it appears. When you look at the plaques above the throne, you see that the other relic weapons also pulse in their respective collors, which Kuroyume spreading purplish darkness instead of light. (Kuroyume=Blacklight, Akaitaiyo (Wayve's Weapon)=Red, Aonami=Unknown, the two other relic weapons on the walls pulse Brown and White)
Wayve speaks:

"Do not be alarmed, dear guests. The Kyuden is heavily fortified and designed with natural happenings like this in mind. The weather in these regions can be unpredictable, bordering on both plains and mountains."

Valineth nodded in affirmation, her face turning stern as she followed her grandfather in law into the Vault.

"What in the name of Ashmar..." she breathed, "Is the Empress alright?" Valineth asked, with a step towards her mother in law's body.

"We have to do something! That thing is going to kill her!" She looked desperately at Marius for an answer.

When Valineth looked at Marius, she saw him staring with a grim, empty expression upon his face.

"My lady, I must ask you to remain here. Helena and I can save her, but she will need somebody to comfort her when she wakes up."

He looked at Valineth, a sad smile forming on his mouth.

"I am afraid this will be the last time we will meet, lady Valineth. Take good care of my grandson. If he takes after me, he will need a good feminine hand to keep him in check from time to time."

He turned to his wife.

"It's time, my dear. Let us go."

Helena nodded, the same smile upon her face. Marius took Helena's hand in his and the old couple walked to the Aspect. They slowely placed their free hand upon the frightful head of the creature. Suddenly, a flash of light appeared from the eyes of the insect, blinding Valineth. Afterwards, she could see the bodies of both Marius and Helena laying on the ground, unmoving.

Meanwhile...

Clapping awoke her from the black abyss which she had encountered far too many times in the last couple of hours. Shaking her head to get rid of the dizziness, Nyllana sat up, quickly scanning the area. Her eyes found the Stranger, standing before her. With a smile and a nod, he gestured behind her. She saw her father, mother, brother and husband laying there aswel, slowly returning to conciousness.

"You did well, Nyllana Earthguard. Your Prowess is great indeed."

He chuckled.

"For to acknowledge an enemy is too great a foe and accepting help is also Prowess, although some mortals would leave you to believe otherwise. The notion that you are not alone, even when on the top of the Hierarchy, is fundamental in achieving success."

"You passed the test, my lady. I will return you to the mortal realm. I even have a gift for you, awaiting you when you return."

Nyllana blinked, the bizzar situation to much for her to take in at once.

"Isn't it great, little fly? I am glad we were on time."

Marius ran his fingers through her hair, messing it up.

"But...father...how?"

"How is not important, Nyllana. Just be happy we made it."

The Stranger looked at them, sadness suddenly in his eyes.

"You know that you and Helena cannot return to the mortal realm, do you not Marius?"

Marius shrugged and smiled apologetically.

"Yes I do. But how could a father let his daughter be bullied. That would be very...unProwessful, wouldn't it?"

The Stranger turned around and pointed to the edge of the rock.

"Your transport will be awaiting there. At the least, you will have the company of your wife, son and son-in-law, to make the journey bearable..."

Nyllana saw Riphal and Iconeh hugging and greeting her parents, but her mind was cloudy, as if something was disconnected. Her saviours walked to her, hugged her, kissed her, said their farewells. Her eyes full of tears, she wanted to scream, grasp her parents, hug her brother, kiss her husband, but her body was not responding to her commands. The only thing coming out was a whimper and a sob. They waved, walking away from her, towards the end of the cliff. As soon as they reached the edge, a flying ship, sails unfurled, rose up, picking up the new arrivals. Marius highfived a figure in a pink dress, Iconeh greeted another fire berapi, shortly embracing him. She saw Riphal walking towards a Tekorvan, kissing her on the cheek. She knew this was goodbye, the ship slowly sinking back to the dephs of this strange world. The Stranger was now the only one standing next to her. Her vision slowly began to fade, relapsing back towards the familiar darkness. She could utter a last sentence, using up all of her willpower.

"Who...are...you?"

"Oh I am known by many names, but in this day and age, this era, I am mostly known as A......"

Then darkness took her in its cold embrace once more.

*Valineth*

After the bright flash, it stayed silent for three minutes. Soon however, a small earthquake hit the Kyuden. Winds started to blow through the Vault, bringing wet drops of rain with it (the Vault is not connected to the outside). The winds seemed to be centered around Nyllana. Aonami, Nyllana's weapon, begins to pulse with a deep blue light. The fierce light in the eyes of the Aspect begins to fade as it collapses upon itself, as if drained from the inside. Nyllana, still impaled, is lowered into the exoskeleton of the Aspect. Mere moments later, a white and blue appears from within the hollow shell of the Aspect and the wind intensifies, not allowing Valineth to approach. Eventually, after two minutes, the light fades and the wind drops.

In the middle of the Vault lies the outer shell of the Aspect, like a shed skin. When Valineth approaches inside, she sees Nyllana, curled up in a fetal position. However, she has changed beyond recognition. Plates of chitin now cover most of her body, even large parts of her fishtail, which now appears to be almost 3 meters in length and ends in a large stinger. Her wings are also larger and broader than normal, but those are folded up against her back. You can see Aonami laying besides her, the weapon glowing a soft blue.

Imagine a fishtail instead of legs and insect wings instead of skeletal wings. She also has normal(ish) hair, with a greenish hue.

Wayve made a small bow.

"I am honored, King Tansan. However, we will refrain from spreading our faith without any agreement beforehand of course. But it is good to know that people outside the Hurosha Empire at least have some faith in Ashmar. Every step forward is a good step indeed, no matter how small."

The rumbling of the ground beneath him caused Aluic to dribble an amount of Heartwine down the front of his vest and he pulled his cup from his lips and brushed at his chest for a moment before realizing the ground was moving underneath him. He looked up at Councilman LaFitte, who he had just been talking with near the bar with a worried concern, then at the Prince who was now addressing the crowd.

"It's not the weather I'm concerned about, what the hell is happening with those weapons?" He said, his voice really only loud enough for the Councilman to hear him.

Valineth's brow furrowed in confusion at Marius' words and she tried to take a step after him but found her legs unresponsive. A moment later and her arm was flying up to cover her eyes from the flash of light.

She rushed over to Marius and Helena, checking to see if they were alive. She could not feel their lifeblood moving through them any longer. She looked up at the great insect that still held Nyllana upon its back, fearful of its power she began to try and pull Marius and Helena's bodies away from it. She had moved Helena to the door and was returning to the door with Marius when a great wind began to howl around the Aspect, droplets stinging her skin as they flew through the air. She shielded her eyes as best she could, trying to catch a glimpse of Nyllana upon its back but with the sudden burst of light it became even harder to see.

She watched in fear as the Aspect collapsed in on itself, and as the howling wind and light faded she approached the center of the room carefully, hoping Nyllana might still be there. When she caught sight of the woman's form she rushed over, bending down amidst the shell of the Aspect to lift the Empress' head into her lap. Despite her change in appearance it was still clear this was Nyllana and she was still shockingly alive.

"Empress Nyllana," she half asked, half demanded, "It's Valineth, can you hear me?" Are you alright?

"OF course, with one of our main islands being an active volcano, we are used to minor tremors and the sudden appearance of clouds." His face turned a bit pale, "There aren't volcanoes around here, are there?"

Information flooded her dreams, fragments of things past and current, of Shïnguards, of heroes long forgotten. She saw earthquakes and floods wreck the land, only to be build up again in the blink of her minds eye. She saw the cooperation of men in need, the force of kindred spirits. But above all, she saw the balance, the delicate balance that had been since ancient times, but was disrupted in her age. The balance that was now being restored. She felt she was above it all, and a motherly love filled her when she saw the people of Hurosha working together, restoring the damage that the restoration brought. How she knew all this, she could not tell, but at that moment, she felt content and at peace.

"Empress Nyllana," "It's Valineth, can you hear me? Are you alright?"

A familiar voice eventually called Nyllana back to the world of the living. Nyllana opened her eyes. She found herself looking up to Valineth, her expression worried. When she moved her gaze across her surroundings, she saw the hollow shell of the Aspect.

"I think I am, Valineth. Thank you."

Raising her hand, she saw the gift the Stranger had bestowed upon her. She had recieved the Aspect's power. The power of that hollow shell, without purpose, without soul, had been granted to her, for the sake of keeping the balance and protecting all of life living their lives under Ashmar's gaze. She sat upright and said.

"This must look very distressing to you, Valineth, but a great thing happened here today. My father and mother willingly gave up their lives to help me achieve it. They layed down their lives with grace and Prowess. They wanted me to honour them, not to grieve them. They reside in the Spiritworld now."

Nyllana spread her new wings, flying up slowely.

"Come, we still have a coronation to attend. I will tell you what transpired here while we make our way towards the Hall of Guarding."

Aluic glanced around at the other guests and the Huroshans present, "It seems everything is under control for now. I suppose I simply should be more on guard with a drink in my hand," he chuckled to cover his nerves.

She looked over at the bodies of Marius and Helena, "Should we... We need to let someone know about this."

Aluic smiled, "I've never had the pleasure, Ashenia does not share a friendly history with the Triumvirate. Our very faith is banned in their lands," he shrugged, "But perhaps that can change," he noted with a glance to where he saw the Ashanian delegation, "Would you care to join me in greeting the Ashene King Councilman?"

OOC: I am going on a vacation tomorrow, so I am rushing the last part of the story a bit. I can still post tomorrow morning, but the rest of the round and the first week of the next I will be gone and silent.

Valineth took a step back as the Empress took to the air.

"Please. Please do," she said confused and nervous, but relieved her mother in law was still alive, for her husband's sake if nothing else.

She looked over at the bodies of Marius and Helena, "Should we... We need to let someone know about this."

"Oh, but we already know, my lady." A voice spoke from the shadows. From behind a pillar, Kenwyn stepped into the light. Solemnly he walked to the bodies of the once great ruler and his wife.

"Marius warned me before he left for the Vault. I thought it weird he said his farewells. The man was and still is riddled with secrets."

Kenwyn faced Valineth and Nyllana, bowing.

"Leave this to me, my Empress, my Queen. I will make sure they recieve the proper rites and are interred in the catacombs. I advise you to keep the funeral after our guests have left, Empress Nyllana. It could spark unnecesairy panic and hostilities."

Nyllana nodded in agreement.

"I'll leave it to you then, Kenwyn."

"Thank you, your Highness."

Nyllana beckoned Valineth to follow, grabbing her cloak from the hooks at the entrance.

"You see, Valineth, this is what transpired there, back in the Vault."

*OOC: Valineth now knows what happened in the Spiritworld*

"One thing, my dear. Please do not tell anyone just yet. We do not want to cause a panic. I will tell them when the time is right."

By the time Nyllana finished talking, they had arrived at the Hall of Guarding. Putting up her hood, she made her way to Wayve, who by this time had noticed that his axe and the other weapons were glowing and she put a hand upon his shoulder.

"It is time, my son."

Wayve looked at his mother, utterly confused.

"Mother, something strange is happening, we should...."

"All is alright my son. Ashmar has blessed us with balance and the power to maintain it. Come now. It is time."

Heralds sounded their horns, their sound blasting through the Hall. Nyllana, still cloaked and hooded, called everybodies attention. A soft glow seemed to hover around her and a small breeze picked up in the hall.

"Dear friends, rulers from all corners of the world. I must apologise for the strange phenomenon happening here. I can assure you though, that everything is safe and under control. However, the time is upon me to lay down the crown and pass it down to my son. I, Nyllana Earthguard, hereby renounce my station!"

Grïend walked the steps and knelt before the royals. In his hands, a cushion, upon which lies a pair of armguards made of adamantine, amber, diamonds, mithril and frilled with Tanhedhan feathers. A fine clockwork mechanism could be seen at the clasps. The guards themselves showed a warrior with an axe fighting of monsters and a cloud of darkness, the cloud made of the most ebon shintouite.

"Take my gift and blessing, my son. May Ashmar protect your realm and rule. May Balance forever prevail. May your Prowess always light your path. All Hail the new Emperor and Shïnguard!"

She turned to the audience.

"KANGEI ASHMAR!"

The Huroshans in the crowd raised their hands and goblets, cheering, screaming and chanting "KANGEI ASHMAR" in tandem, three times, as was usual.

Wayve fitted the armguards, the clockwork straps clicked around his arms. He raised his axe, still glowing, into the air.
Once the cheering subsided, Nyllana spoke once again.

"However, Ashmar has blessed us with more tonight. The Balance has been restored! The Avatar of Ashmar, of Balance, walks this world once again!"

She took of her cloak, revealing her new form for all to see.

"Ashmar has tested me, and found me worthy to wield the Aspect's power and create balance for the Hurosha Empire. The title bestowed upon me....The Avatar of Balance (OOC: No, not Prowess, screw that). As such, I will continue to lead the Ashmar faith. If thy do not believe me, direct your gaze to the relic weapons of old. The ancient spirits that slept within have awakened, ready to serve, ready to preserve. May Ashmar shower his praise upon the Hurosha Empire for all eternity."

As she spoke, a thin mist spread across the ceiling and the earth rumbled in agreement, although no quake was felt. The torches flared and a small gust ruffled the tapestries.
The newly awoken Avatar of Balance, Nyllana flew down the steps, slowly making her way towards the Sanctum of Ashmar, leaving behind a very very confused Wayve and an even more confused audience.

OOC: Some OOC knowledge. Being the Avatar of Balance, Nyllana now has a kind of magic called Aspect Magic. She can form any part of her body into an element or combination of elements, including lifeforms. Meaning she can transform her tail into pure fire, or give herself legs. She can change everything except her head. Also, she doesn't age anymore and is immortal (No reincarnation Avatar stuff). Also, under normal circumstances, she cannot be slain, but she will refrain from any fighting until absolutely necessairy.
Furthermore, the relic weapon are also magical from now on and have one special ability, if they accept their rightfull wielder. This depends on the heritage of the wielder (Earthguard related) and on the combat Prowess of the wielder.
