Im looking for some really sweet 5th and 6th level spells on the sorc list that arent in core. Esoteric splatbooks are fine.

I say sorc in that a sorc can cast them- no wizard only, but sorc only is fine.

draconic polymorph 5th level.

its like normal polymorph, but you get +8 str and +2 con on top of the normal creature you change into.

What's really sweet depends on what you already have. For instance, Flesh to Ice (Frostburn, Sor/Wiz 5) is pretty sweet if you don't already have a solid single-target Fort Save-or-lose spell. However, if you already have a solid single-target Fort Save-or-lose spell, it's a lot less tasty.

Arcane Fusion (CM), Heart of Fire (CM), Mass Fly (SpC), Gemjump (SpC), and Superior Resistance (SpC) come to mind.

But especially Arcane Fusion, since action economy is one of the big reasons to play a 3.5 sorcerer in the first place.

draconic polymorph 5th level.

its like normal polymorph, but you get +8 str and +2 con on top of the normal creature you change into.

It's also personal range, so you can use Persistent Spell with it (Naenhoon, Incantatrix, Spelldancer, etc.). Also note that you can always Alter Self into yourself, even if you have templates, so you can Draconic Polymorph into yourself to just get +8 Str and +2 Con.

Haze of Smoldering Stone (6th) from Dragon Magic is a 60-ft. cone that deals 4d6 bludngeoning and 8d6 fire damage, or if you cast it on the previous round it deals 5d6 bludgeoning and 10d6 fire damage. Just learning the spell gives you fire resistance 3, which stacks with any other resistance to fire that you have. It's on the Druid class spell list, so any Druid character capable of casting 7th level spells automatically gains that fire resistance.

Lord of the Sky (Dragon Magic) is a rather versatile short-duration flight variant, though it is personal only so it may be redundant with Draconic Flight (Dragonomicon).
Draconic Flight is better than Overland flight in pretty much every way.
Mental Pinnacle (XPH) let's you become a psion temporarily.

Superior Resistance (SpC) is a 24-hour duration +6 bonus to all saving throws.

flesh to salt is a favourite of mine, from sandstorm. its a save or die like flesh to stone, but if they pass they still take a bit of damage.

i personally love spells that still have a nice effect if the target passes a save

Looking off what my high-level sorc knew...

5:

- Greater Blink (SpC) (http://dndtools.eu/spells/spell-compendium--86/blink-greater--3971/). You simply are not going to find a better defensive buff this side of Prismatic Sphere (http://dndtools.eu/spells/players-handbook-v35--6/prismatic-sphere--2343/). Period. 50% miss chance (except against force effects of course) is a monster already, but tie it in with no longer having to deal with Blink (http://dndtools.eu/spells/players-handbook-v35--6/blink--2787/)'s downside (20% miss/ASF chance), being able to, upon readying an action, automatically dodge any one attack, and being able to just step through walls, and you've got an amazing spell. It's rounds per caster level, but it's a very strong candidate for a Persist (http://dndtools.eu/feats/complete-arcane--55/persistent-spell--2140/) if you're going Incantatrix (http://dndtools.eu/classes/players-guide-to-faerun--22/incantatrix/).

- Arcane Fusion (Complete Mage) (http://dndtools.eu/spells/complete-mage--58/arcane-fusion--890/). This is among the strongest tools in a sorcerer's toolbox. It allows you to lob any one first level and any one fourth-or-lower level spell as part of the same standard action (or, in combination with a nice persisted Arcane Spellsurge (http://dndtools.eu/spells/dragon-magic--62/arcane-spellsurge--1093/), the same move action). If you can't immediately grasp the usefulness of this, you're probably blind. The most frequently-used combo, I think, is Orb of (X) (http://dndtools.eu/spells/complete-arcane--55/orb-acid--462/) (particularly Orb of Force (http://dndtools.eu/spells/complete-arcane--55/orb-force--470/) because it will bypass any kind of elemental resistance, at the cost of reduced damage output) fusion'd with a True Strike (http://dndtools.eu/spells/players-handbook-v35--6/true-strike--2521/), but the possibilities are endless. There's also a Greater version at level 8 (http://dndtools.eu/spells/complete-mage--58/arcane-fusion-greater--891/) that lets you drop any level 7 or lower and any level 4 or lower spell together - Avasculate (http://dndtools.eu/spells/spell-compendium--86/avasculate--3860/) + Assay Spell Resistance (http://dndtools.eu/spells/spell-compendium--86/assay-spell-resistance--3850/) (or True Casting (http://dndtools.eu/spells/complete-mage--58/true-casting--805/)), anybody?

- Spell Theft (Complete Scoundrel) (http://dndtools.eu/spells/complete-scoundrel--60/spell-theft--896/). This is the intermediate version of targeted Dispel Magic (http://dndtools.eu/spells/players-handbook-v35--6/dispel-magic--2315/), with a TWEEST! You cast the spell and can immediately see all spells affecting the target, and then can make a dispel check as Dispel Magic (maximum +15 on your CL check). The twist comes in with the "theft" part of it - if you succeed, you dispel the effect from them and gain the effect on you for the remainder of the duration of the spell.

And then of course he also knows Wall of Force (http://dndtools.eu/spells/players-handbook-v35--6/wall-of-force--2659/), but that's a given and it's core. I didn't take Superior Resistance (http://dndtools.eu/spells/savage-species--47/superior-resistance--3194/) because we had an Archivist (http://dndtools.eu/classes/archivist/) who was handling the utility caster role and I had a +5 resistance bonus built into my Vest of the Archmagi (http://scottsepicgames.forumcommunity.net/?t=45916040) (see MiC, p234) instead anyway. If you have a good utility caster in your party (Wizard (http://dndtools.eu/classes/wizard/), Archivist, etc.), then I wouldn't bother taking Superior Resistance. If you don't, it may actually be worthwhile to forget a lower-level spell for it or just grab a Knowstone (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=1583.0;msg=80749).

Surprisingly, though, all my 6th level spells are Core - Contingency (http://dndtools.eu/spells/players-handbook-v35--6/contingency--2597/) because best spell all years, Disintegrate (http://dndtools.eu/spells/players-handbook-v35--6/disintegrate--2801/) because I can abuse metamagic with it like it's going out of style, giving it almost unmatched damage output, and Chain Lightning (http://dndtools.eu/spells/players-handbook-v35--6/chain-lightning--2593/) because sometimes you need to hit a bunch of targets in a hurry.
