Question about exotic arrow catch (OOTS Spoiler)

By RAW is it possible for Tarquin to catch arrows the way he does, especially in 936 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0936.html)?

If he had the Infinite Deflection feat from the ELH yes. Which doesn't actually list any prereqs that a reasonable optimizer couldn't achieve before Epic except maybe DEX 25 given the other information we know about Tarquin. Or maybe he rolled really well.

DEX 25 is fairly easy to archive by epic levels, heck you could start with 15 and get it with level up bonus and wishes/tomes, which at higher levels are fairly easy to get hold of. Heck you could start with 9 dex and still get it (5 level up bonus, 5 tome/wish and 6 from an item).

(Infinite (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/feats.htm#infiniteDeflection)) Deflecting (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/feats.htm#deflectArrows) is not Catching (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/feats.htm#snatchArrows).

Is there a way to gain Infinite Catching?

"Catch" says
When using the Deflect Arrows (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/feats.htm#deflectArrows) feat you may catch the weapon instead of just deflecting it.

This implies that since Infinite is a modification on Deflect(giving it infinite uses), when (infinitely) using the Deflect Arrows, you can instead catch them.

But going by the strictest of the wording, it doesn't work, even with your quotes.



You may perform any number of deflections each round, as the Deflect Arrows feat.

So it does not modify Deflect Arrows, it just functions like the base feat.



When using the Deflect Arrows feat you may catch the weapon instead of just deflecting it.

And that is not the Infinite Deflect Arrow Feat.

I get the logic, but by RAW... it depends on how strict you read those lines.
