We posters are to do this right? Or does the computer do it? If we do it, where is the ''close thread button''?

Moderators close threads when necessary. If a thread really needs to be closed, PM a mod. If it hit 50 pages, just start a new one.

I saw a post that said we should close threads once they get to 50. Guess they did not mean us....

If you're referring to the first cheating thread, it's likely that, in the absence of an official closure, people will just not post in it as a matter of custom for the most part, and tend towards the second. It would thus really be more of a formality than anything. In any case, if that post was referring to us normal posters, it was to the extent that we should do what we've already done, and the rest is up to mods.

Sheriff: If a thread reaches fifty pages, please start a new one, noting "II" or something similar in the title. Providing a link in the new thread-starter post to the old thread can be useful as can putting a link to the new thread in a post at the end of the old thread. You can report the old thread for closure or PM a mod, and we'll come close it, if need be.

This isn't a rule so much as an administrative process, so isn't something posters need to worry about. Even if no one starts a new thread at the fifty page mark, eventually a moderator will come by and close the old one, and the only downside is that it'll be too late to add the helpful links noted above.
