So, I am beginning a campaign that will have about 5 or 6 people in it, and it's intended (and told before hand) that this will be a more difficult campaign. Most if not all of the players are long time experienced people with dnd and pathfinder.

Due to the fact that I think one of them is a forum lurker, I won't mention names or any such information. Anyway, I am preparing this campaign and there was this large cataclysmic event which can basically be described as a formless invasion from the Black Tapestries in the world, random curses, earthquakes, floods, people turning into evil creatures, etc.

Standard absolutely terrible natural disaster, only a few nations survive and defend. After a while, the nations and cities start sending out attackers to said evil and attempt to destroy it, but are otherwise not found again or found dead. These cities send out multiple heroes of various classes and races. Essentially, they become corrupted, both through promises of power and through long term corruption, these heroes basically are told by whoever in the tapestry's who's behind the attack/invasion that they've been chosen and blahblah, they are now his champions, similar to chaos corruption in Warhammer 40k.

Anyway, the list of people that will in essence be my BBEG's are as such:

A Shapeshifting Black Tapestries Human Oracle, who corrupts governments with his granted ability to shapeshift, standard power hungry corrupted priest. He is somewhat petty.

A Tengu Blackguard, who is a very no nonsense herald of evil, who dislikes the bickering of this evil council of evil and tends to relay direct orders from head honcho/head tentacle face or whoever. He hits like a truck and is srs business.

A Pair of Elf spell casters, a Plague witch, whos utterly psychotic and batty, who likes to turn people into wood (turn to stone spell with twist) and watch them rot, and a very regal elf illusionist wizard (specialist) who is much more serious. Both of them are sisters and work very much in tandem, sometimes delaying to cast spells in tandem at the same time. They're bff's forever. They complement each other's spell casting/spell choices. They share the same familiar, but I have no idea what that will be yet.

A mechanical monstrosity who is going to be using a setting specific class that's basically a juggernaut who pounds people to dust and uses a variety of combat based machinery.

And finally, an elf alchemist, who is the only one of the bunch who is having second doubts. He himself is a bomb and poison throwing nut whos absolutely insane, but in the back of his mind he knows this isn't who he used to be. Even though all of the council is largely in control of the group without overriding their agency, he decides that the only way to free him is to create a strange potion using ingredients no one else knows (he was the nation's greatest alchemist) He fools everyone and manages to make a potion that replaces many levels with master chymist and intentionally breaks his psyche. He turns into a strange behemoth alchemist and wanders around. He will eventually: defect and join the party in their struggles to overcome evil, or b: come in contact with the elf wizard for too long and realize what has happened and "cure" him of his looneyness, where he will revert to old elf self and bomb the party. He's intended as a renegade bbeg who is having Amnesia: The Dark Descent type redo.

The party is playing a rather dark (but clean) campaign that is to go through (well into) epic levels

SO

We recently picked up another player who will be with us for the entire next year (our estimated campaign duration) However, I need to make the party + elf renegade equal to the amount of left over council members for balance and story reasons.

Here's the question: Which champion should be split into two concepts, or which champion am I missing from an obviously evil group? Which concept of evil am I missing?

Thanks for reading.

Just a friendly bump. Saw some people looked at it but no comments. I'm mostly just asking if this council seems both plausible or if there's some sort of thing that I'm missing, some aspect of evil council of evil that's not there that needs to be.

Thanks,

Sounds interesting. I'll think about it, there's probably something more specific I can think of, but off the top of my head:

In terms of abilities, you don't have a Minion-o-mancer type or a ranged offense type (well, the alchemist is, kind of, but in the case that he's on the PC side). Gunslinger actually becomes pretty deadly with enough levels and gear.

In terms of personality, there's the "evil businessman" type, who just wants to maintain his wealth and power (maybe not appropriate if they're working for alien forces that want to cause mass destruction). There's also the "warrior that just wants to become the world's best, and will kill anyone in pursuit of that". Oh, and the "was good, but decided the world is too screwed-up to exist and will burn it down to fix it" type.
