My Bard is now persisting swift fly all day. I don't see any easy-to-find explanations of how the fact that one combatant is flying affects combat.

I thought I had once read somewhere that a flying creature gets a +2 circumstance bonus to attack rolls. But I can't find that rule anywhere.

It doesn't seem to be in the Rules of The Game: All About Movement (Part Four (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/rg/20040629a) and Part Five (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/rg/20040706a)), which cover the details of flying.

Did I imagine this? Can anyone please point me to the rule on combat when only one combatant is flying?

You gain +1 because you're attacking from higher ground. This only applies to melee attacks, obviously.

Thanks. I was looking for flying, rather than height advantage.

I believe that Heavyfuel was implying that there are no bonuses for one combatant flying itself, but the act of flying gives that combatant a height advantage.

Edit: This discussion (http://rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/34998/what-are-the-rules-of-using-a-ranged-weapon-while-flying?rq=1) may be of some use. Although it is focused on ranged weapons, the first answer gives some general information on flight and combat.
