Ring of Shapechange

Looking back through some old ideas of characters, I reread the Master Transmogrifist. I always like the sheer power and annoyance it could cause, but hated that with 4 dead level it could never actually get Shapechange with only 20 levels. So my question is how much would a Ring of Shapechange (either permanent or 1/day for X-hrs) cost? Best i could figure is from DMG pg.285 Use-Activated/Continuous =Spell Level x Caster Level x 2000 (and then multiply by 1.5 for the spell being 10min/ level normally) for a total of 459,000gp. Or: more than I would ever spend or would ever get to use. Anyway double checking with you smart people for clarification.

You're probably better off with a Staff of Shapechange, which would be 750x9x17 + 1500 (material focus), or 123,000 gp.

Of course, I'm not sure why you want Master Transmogrifist AND Shapechange; is there something the class does that you can't do with Shapechange?

Yes. They can combine features of different creatures.

That does sound much more doable, I'm actually not very familiar with staves, could u make a staff with only one spell in it? Are staves rechargeable?

Staves are indeed rechargeable, and you can have one or more spells in them. I'd see if it's in your budget to toss on polymorph or alter self, for the fun of it
