View Full Version : Optimization Easiest way to gain Control Weather?

For a lvl 8 Druid, what would be the fastest way to get use of Control Weather?

Scroll is the most obvious. Also looked at the Orb of Storms.

Any ideas? Items? Feats?

Well, I know that you can get it two levels early by using fey ring (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/fw/20040710a) for a storm rider (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/fey/20040110a). That's definitely not 8th level though. You might be stuck doing this with an inefficient item based method.

The Collateral Damage Man (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?361628-Collateral-Damage-Man) thread points out the Greater Dragonmark of Storm, which bestows control weather once per day on its possessor. You can pick up the Greater Dragonmark feat at 9th level (or earlier if you use a trick to break skill caps).

Planar Touchstone feat (Planar Handbook). Visit the Stormvault (EL 9 site). Higher-Order Ability is control weather. You'll need 8 ranks of Knowledge: the Planes, but you can get that with a Planar Druid 4 substitution level (Planar Handbook) or Knowledge Devotion.

You can get it at 8th level if you take 4 levels in Dragonmark Heir, but that means four levels of not being a Druid. And that's just crazy. Also, yay, my thread got cited!

Never discount Dominate Person (scroll/item/domain) on a higher level druid. :)

You're expecting a Druid, with a high natural Will save and WIS as the only stat they care about, to fail a Will save against an item (which therefore has a very low save DC)? I wouldn't count on that.

Now, Diplomancy might work . . .

I dont know if its possible to get that DC at lvl 8 but I guess it might be possible. (Book of Vile Darkness p.27)

I know there is a spell that makes you roll 20 on the next skill check and there is some spells that buff your skill check
