Dragon Disciple with Caster level?

I was looking at the Dragon Disciple PrC the other day and I noticed something peculiar. It gets bonus spells. (?) Now normally, most classes that require spellcasting usually give some caster level boost and I was trying to think of a way to adapt it to the DD. How about instead of bonus spells, it gets a level of spellcasting every odd numbered level.

Comments, criticisms, praise, or anything else anyone would like to add will be appreciated.

I think it should give CLs but not spells. Full casters shouldn't go for a class that gives that few spells. This class is for melee. It gives great hp, skill list, and race bonuses to otherwise bland builds. Played this class as a hexblade once.

CL increase sounds fair but I sorta thought that those spells that would allow the DD to buff himself (Bull's Strength, Haste) would be fairly useful.

How did your hexblade do?
