I don't know how many of you know of Brawl in the Family (http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/). It's a webcomic inspired by Super Smash Bros, nominally starring Kirby. I've followed it for a number of years and almost always enjoyed it. Unlike many webcomics, the creator (Matthew Taranto) has done his best to keep it family friendly, and that hasn't impacted its charm at all. It's normally a fun (two) gag-a-week strip, but there are sometimes longer story arcs and even musical numbers. The art has grown dramaticly over its run; this (http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/2008/05/01/alpha-comik/) is the first strip. Compare it to the latest one, and see the difference. If it hasn't made me laugh, I've got a smile from the general sugary mood, or just admired how far the art has come.

Sadly, Matt has announced that he will be bringing the comic to an end (http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/2014/07/24/580-world-eight-four/). I'll be sad to see it go, but I'd rather watch it bow out with its creator's will than pathetically dribble away, trying to recapture its glory days (not that I'm implying that its degraded: it certainly hasn't).
So, if anybody here reads Bitf, feel free to reminisce on what it has given us before it passes. If you are reading this without having read Brawl in the family, please take a look.

Goodbye, Brawl in the Fa-

This is what happens when you kill off Waluigi. Good one. Walugi comics always did do the shift from wacky to tears well.

I just took my first look at Bitf in a couple of weeks, and found this (http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/2014/08/29/590-comic-review-super-smash-bros/). It's beautiful. :smallfrown:

Thanks to a computer upgrade a few months ago, this is the first time I've been able to read all of Fishman's text.

I'll be sad to see it go, definitely. But better to end it as part of a conscious effort to wrap it up than to dwindle into nothing.

Brawl in the Family ends the day that SSB3DS comes out. Fitting, if bittersweet.

Brawl in the Family ends the day that SSB3DS comes out.

And then "For 3DS and Wii U in the Family" starts up.

Right?

RIGHT?

:(

Yes.

@Hytheter

If only, if only,
the moon speaks no reply
reflecting the sun and all that's gone by.

While the wolf waits below
hungry and lonely,
he howls to the moooon,
If only, if only

I have no idea how I'm going to fill the void of webcomics I follow this is leaving...it was awesome AND it updated really regularly, something far more webcomics than Order of the Stick fail to achieve.

Guess I'll just have to get used to not having this to check on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Man I just thought, Ensign Sue Must Die is probably ending soon too! My Fridays will never be as awesome ever again... *cries*

I hate lefties.

I fixed that for you.

Wow, it's really gone. I can't really think of anything to say. It was great, it ran for a long time and it was probably best that it was brought to an end before it petered out. I used to like jumping up the archives and watch the art improve.

If you want to share your favourite comic, go ahead. I'm going to need some time to decide what mine is. :smallfrown:

That really is a fitting way to end it, though. If it has to end--as all things must--that's probably the best ending it could have had.

I applaud a wonderful 600-strip run of Brawl in the Family. I absolutely loved every moment of it. While I am sad to see it go, I feel quite at peace. I will miss you, little guy.
