Oskar, a warrior-priest of the goddess Tymora, the goddess of luck has been given a vision. The vision is that he must cleanse a defiled alter somewhere in Neverwinter Wood he must be helped by his brother, a returned army doctor. You know of another priest who worships Tymora by the name of Sister Garaele, she might be able to help you.

Eachtar has found a tome, a tome which consisted of a place called Old Owl Well, in this place he has heard that a great arcane power resides there. If you were to study it you may be able to harness its power. You know of a man named Daran Edermath who may be able to help you with it's location.

Osrik, an army doctor has returned from his years of service in the army to live with his brother Oskar, Oskar recently had a vision of some alter in Neverwinter Wood. It had you in it as well so you decided to go along with him on the trip when you read the message.

During your time as a criminal you've heard word that a new gang has arisen, a gang called the Redbrands. When you came back one day to your run-down house in Neverwinter your home had been ransacked and the majority of your books stolen, on your wall was a couple of words written they said: Thanks, -Glasstaff

Through your criminal contacts you've discovered that Glasstaff is the leader of the redbrands, and you hear that a women named Halia Thornton has it out for them as well, maybe she might help you with getting your revenge. You've heard through your contacts that Halia lives in the small city of Phandalin, maybe the message wasn't just a coincidence?

All of you are in the city of Neverwinter when you hear word that Gundren Rockseeker, your trusted friend and patron has asked you to deliver a wagon to the rough and tumble city of Phandalin. He promises you a reward of 10 gold if you make it there and deliver the goods.

Rolan Abernathy - Human Wizard

Only one way to go from the bottom, Rolan thought to himself as he waited in the pre-dawn shadows, leaning against the wall of a building across the street from where he was told to meet, robes pulled tight about him, hiding the burn scars that cover the left side of his neck and track down his side and back. A week ago everything was just peachy, research was progressing steadily, and while not living in luxury, money was a non-issue. Living near the docks had its benefits and coin wasn't exactly required to rent one of the many run down buildings, just a favor or two every few months and he got his own place to do with as he pleased, all with no questions asked. Until recently he'd had no trouble from the local gangs either, helping out their boss had granted him some small form of immunity from them.

Spitting on the ground he thumped his heel into the wall behind him in anger. Until those bastards robbed me.

He'd been at the Laughing Monkey a local tavern, as he was wont to do on the fourth day of every tenday for the last year, when he had finally stumbled home near midnight, bottle of beer in his hand and thoughts of sleep in his head. The first and most obvious sign something was wrong was that his front door was in splinters and on the ground. Once his drunken mind realized what this meant his eyes went wide as he rushed inside Not my work, not my work he begged to himself as he hurried to the back room where he kept his notes. Cursing and hurling the bottle against the wall as he saw the ransacked shelf and the lock to his chest laying broken and discarded on the floor. Two years of notes gone; two years of experiments wasted; two years of- What the blazes is that? Scrawled on the wall was some sort of note. "Glasstaff..." That's not even a word he thought absently as he searched through what was left, hoping they'd missed something.

He'd marched to one of his contacts after that. Pounding on the door and waking them from their sleep before being kindly told to "Piss off!" backed up by the steel head of a crossbow bolt pointing through the lookout slot in the door. After a day of horrible waiting he'd been given some vague information and a name along with place to find out more. Unfortunately it would mean leaving the city, and after being robbed he didn't have the funds to support a possible lengthy journey away.

The solution came as he was complaining to one of his acquaintances of the unfairness of it all. Apparently Gundren Rockseeker, an old friend was putting together a delivery that needed protecting and was actually heading in the direction Rolan wanted to go. The fact that he was only offered 10 gold for the job was a relief to him too, as surely that meant that this trip would be unlikely to see any real danger.

Hoping whoever was organizing this wagon would hurry up and get here, he cast a minor spell to heat his robes, taking the early morning chill from him as he continued to wait for the wagon to arrive.

"Gundren, I heard ye got a job fer me? To Phandalin?"

Osrik, accompanied by his brother Oskar, walks up to his benefactor. "Well, I'd be happy ta' help."

On his way to the wagon, Osrik discusses his vision with Oskar. "I dinnae know what tha' vision means. I dinnae need ta' have yer fancy vestments ta' see tha' Phandalin's where we're goin', but what're we goin' ta' do when we get to tha' altar? Wha d'ye think? Mebbe we c'n have tha' others Gundren brought ta' help protect tha' wagon.

Osrik sighs - "Mebbe yer right. Just 'cause Tymora speaks ta' me, dinnae mean I know wha' I'm doin'. I'm glad yer here."

Gundren arrives to the place requested (whoops forgot to add it.) and speaks to all of you: "Sorry I'm late, I'm been finding my warrior escort here, Sildar." He points to a man in armor wielding a sword who tips his helmet in greeting. "Well, I best be gettin' off, and you best be gettin' your job on. Heh" He chuckles to himself. Then leaves with Sildar.

Eachtar

Curious, that. At least, Eachtar found it curious. Their patron, arriving just now, left just as quickly. Not even a bell. Well, Eachtar figured, it's no business of Elves to understand the ways of men and dwarves. Weird creatures, those. Eager to chase vainglorious dreams, cursed to live too short to realise any of them.

But they left notes. Libraries filled to the brim with their despairs, their triumphs, their exultations and their disappointments. Eachtar liked those, and he supposed he liked Gundren, for the dwarf had helped him before. This job had nothing to do with it all, but Eachtar knew that every turn came with rewards, and a good deed now begged a favour in return later. Not that the elf had any idea of when to call for it.

"Guess we are to deliver it ourselves," the elf announces dryly when Gundren's gone. "Who can ride a cart?"

Rolan Abernathy - Human Wizard

Pushing himself away from the wall and walking briskly across the street Rolan approaches the wagon and peers curiously at the contents Wonder what he's got us hauling he ponders. Looking to the elf he replies "It's certainly looking that way. Gundren didn't mention who exactly we're meant to deliver this to did he?" he pauses and takes a longer look at the elf, his forehead creasing in concentration "You lo-" he starts to say quietly before he cuts his question short and grins to himself when he realizes where he's seen this person before. "I'm not fond of animals," he continues "so i wont steer this thing. But i do think i'll ride, no point walking to Phandalin when such luxurious transport has been provided for us" he says sarcastically as he pulls himself up onto the back of the wagon.

Glancing up at dwarves and the elf as he wiggles around amidst the cargo, finally settling into a comfortable position "Well i'm all set" he says, leaning back with a sigh, his arms stretched out on the side of the wagon either side of him.
"Rolan's my name, call out if there's trouble." he adds as an afterthought.

"So, elf, wha' can ye do? I c'n drive tha cart, I had ta' do it in tha army. I c'n swing a hamm'r an do Tymora's will, but if yer lookin' fer a "real" priest yer lookin' fer Oskar over thar. I jus' heal people, smite people an' lead people - I'm still workin' ta be a' ordain'd priest."

"Fight," the Elf says simply, shooting a curious glance at Rolan. Oh, he'd met this one before. How many summers ago was it? Not enough, it seems. Time hasn't done the man well. Does it do well to any man? Eachtar remembers some human wizards tend to be treated well by time. Most just became mad. Or dead. Sometimes both.

"Let's be on our way then."

In the city of Neverwinter, a dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker asked you to bring a wagonload of provisions to the rough-and-tumble settlement of Phandalin, a couple of days' travel southeast of the city. Gundren was clearly excited and more than a little secretive about his reasons for the trip, saying only that he and his brothers had found "something big," and that he'd pay you 10 GP each for escorting his supplies safely to Barthen's Provisions, a trading post in Phandalin. He then set out ahead of you on horse, along with a warrior escort named Silar Hallwinter, claiming he needed to arrive early to "take care of business"

You've spent the last few days following the High Road south from Neverwinter, and you've just recently veered east along the Triboar Trail. You've encountered no trouble so far, but this territory can be dangerous. Bandits and outlaws have been known to lurk along the trail.

Who's driving the cart?

Where's everyone else who's not driving the cart?

Rolan Abernathy - Human Wizard

Over the past couple of days you've learned that Rolan is along on this trip because the wagons destination coincides with his own, so he'd figured to make some coin and have the added protection of heading there in a group.

Sitting in the back of the wagon it seems Rolan gets comfortable, settles in, then within 15 minutes, he's moving to another spot, leaning off the back of the wagon or just being fidgety in general. He's pretty restless and obviously doesn't like being confined to one place for any length of time. The only times he seems to be sitting still is when he's frowning in concentration over a book, scratching notes in some form of shorthand onto the wagon bed with a piece of charcoal taken from the remains of one of the camp fires. Or when he gets a far off look in his eyes and a maliciously happy grin on his face.

Snapping closed his book and tossing it into his pack with a look of disgust, Rolan looks forward to the dwarf driving the wagon, Scar or Rick, he couldn't tell which was which. He at least thought the one driving was Rick, the one with the 'Visions from God'.
"Ho there driver!" He calls out, scrabbling forward to the front of the cart. "You mentioned you're here because of a vision. It wasn't a- er- *bad* vision was it?" he ventures, eye's flicking over the dwarfs weapons and to the road ahead.

Eachtar

Eachtar likes travelling by cart. Mostly because there's plenty of time to read. Today, though, he's figured he'll alternate being on the cart and walking beside it, considering the wizard-worse-for-wear is already attempting to full-time occupy the cart with restless and incessant fidgeting. Honestly, could it hurt him to sit still for a bit?

As they turn unto Triboar Trail, Eachtar's already gotten off the cart again and has been walking along the side of it, just quietly staring off into the distance. Couldn't wait to get to Old Owl's Well. The company of these people was sordid: one dwarf refused to associate with them entirely, another spoke for his fellow dwarf as if of one mind, and the human wizard paced and rumbled around as if he could well die at any moment.

Eachtar supposed that wasn't too far from the truth. How long did humans last again? He's forgotten. Pretty sure it wasn't more than two centuries. Probably.

"Oh. Well that's good to know. The thought had crossed my mind that maybe, you'd seen fiery hell raining from the sky, and we were heading right into it." he says somewhat relived. "Glad to know that's not the case. Rolan uh- Abernathy" he adds after a slight pause. "I have some skill with magic yes, quite good if i do say so. Though I've been favoring research over practical application of of my abilities these past few years. You'll be glad to know i *do* have a couple of tricks up my proverbial sleeve in case we run amok of something that needs chasing off." He continues, emphasizing the last part by pointing a couple of fingers at the road ahead, moving them in a small pattern while mouthing a couple unintelligible words under his breath, shooting off a thin beam of fire at the ground ahead before turning back to Osrik with a grin and conspiratory wink.

As i'm sure our resident priest here would agree." he says jokingly in Oscars direction, before looking down at his scrawny figure "Not that it's worked very well for me in the past. Seeing that Saranathia is not responding to this we should best continue.

You've been on the Triboar Trail for about half a day. As you come around a bend, you spot two dead horses sprawled about fifty feet ahead of you, blocking the path. Each has several black-feathered arrows sticking out of it. The woods press close to the trail here, with a steep embankment and dense thickets on either side.

Opps, so i'll change the previous post to what i have below, re-use the attack roll, damage shouldn't matter, the firebolt spell sets things on fire if they're flammable, but use that too if needed. (They were a 15 to hit, and a 2 damage)

Since soon after awaking, Abhkari has been hastening along the track in pursuit of the wagon he was hired to protect - cash on delivery, as usual. His head hurts a bit from the crappy northern mead, nothing like the clean tasting wine of the abbey. Once again he regrets the lure of adventure, the daydreaming that left him room to focus mainly on weapons training. "Could a been a damn sage," he mutters, "studying some darn thing in a comfortable cell, fresh fruit an hot meals ..."

Then he hears familiar sounds from beyond the bend a few hundred yards ahead: bowstring, arrow, shield, and blade. Rapidly he strings his bow, grabs a couple of arrows from quiver, and sprints up the hillock that forces the bend n the road. With any luck he'll get a sniper's vantage of the scene.

Standing in a good brace at the hilltop, Abhkari puts a shaft into the most threatening goblin archer, and nocks another arrow for a second shot. "Late, but timely, and in good place!" he replies. In dwarf tongue.

That will happen on your turn. (After goblins)

Rolan Abernathy - Human Wizard

Rolan pops up again from inside the wagon and seeing the goblins, he quickly hurls another bolt of flames towards one of them before scurrying to the back and the wagon and climbing down, taking advantage of the cover the wagon would provide from those nasty looking arrows.

Rolan will attack the same goblin that Abhkari shot at (if its still alive). Otherwise attack G27.
Action: Firebolt (Cantrip)
Attack: [roll0]
Damage: [roll1] fire damage

Move
Off the back of the wagon to H9

Rolan shoots at the goblin who's somewhat hiding near the horses. It scorches his hand and the goblin howls out in pain. The wound is not serious, but it surely angered the goblin.

Goblin turn:

G14: Slash at Eachtar with scimitar: 9 vs. AC, 4 dmg

Disengage and retreat away (to T6).

G42: Slash at Osrik with scimitar: 18 vs. AC, 8 dmg

Disengage and retreat away (to T10)

G06 Shoot Oskar with shortbow: 22 vs. AC, 8 dmg

Hide behind horses: 10, Passive Perception of 10 or higher to be able to see if you can't see you make perception check at beginning of your turn.

G27 Shoot Abhkari with shortbow: 6 vs. AC (with disadvantage because it's far), 6 DMG

Hide behind horses: 18, Passive Perception of 18 or higher to be able to see if you can't see you make perception check at beginning of your turn.

Now it's Abhkari's turn (he must make a perception check to be able to see the goblin that he's shooting).

Then, seeing the newcomer put a well-placed arrow into a goblin and speak in dwarven, he chuckles weakly. "I guess yer na half bad... Welcome ta' tha' group, whoever ye are."

Thank you, sorry about the confusion.

The goblin is now severely wounded from the arrow wound that was shot at him. For when he thought that he was hidden, he had left his neck-up above the horse's body. Abhkari taking advantage of this places a well-aimed shot in the goblin's shoulder making it bleed profusely, barely holding on to its life.

It's now Oskar then Eachtar's turn. Then the round begins again.

Hiding was my attack from this round just past, after I couldn't see a goblin to shoot (per your instrn to edit my action). Shooting if a goblin pops up is my planned attack for next round. Trying to shortcut the inevitable drag of PbP, as my action comes right after the goblins, and if one of them pops to attack, he obviously can't use that action to hide again. ... is this ok, or should I delete the proactive post?

You notice that there's a net laid carefully on the trail, right in front of a non-noticing Oskar!

Suddenly Oskar's leg flies up in the air along with the rest of his body, and is being suspended by a rope hanging from a tree around 10 ft. in the air!

However, he keeps his hammer close by and a spear on the ground, angled as to be thrown quickly and easily without threatening Oskar's livelyhood. He notes Rolan's efforts to remain hidden, but figures his conspicuous armor and position makes it pointless. Quickly considering his options, he prepares to distract anything that might attack, knowing that with a little teamwork, he and Oskar are nigh invincible to cowardly goblin arrows.

The elf shows absolute disinterest for the proceedings, watching Oskar's uneventful rise and fall with about as much interest as he had in the quarrels some tens of summers past. They'd celebrate whenever a village was, what, twenty-five summers young? As if such a short amount of time was worth celebrating. Did they celebrate waking up as well?

"The main passage from the cave mouth climbs steeply upward, the stream plunging and splashing down its west side. In the shadows, a side passage leads west across the other side of the stream.

In the shadows of the ceiling to the north you can just make out the dim shape of a rickety bridge of wood and rope crossing over the passge ahead of you. Another passage intersects this one, twenty feet above the floor."

"The stream passage continues up beyond another set of uneven steps ahead, bending eastward as it goes. A waterfall sounds out from a larger cavern somewhere ahead of you." You also get a revised version of the second paragraph of the last spoiler: "A rickety bridge spans the passage, connecting the two tunnels that are 20 feet above the stream."

Ok, so initiative is: Wolf - 21
Abhkari - 19
Eactar - 17
Rolan - 16
Osrik - 5
Okar - 6

Cannot see what's going inside the cave in fact you can't see past Eactar and Oskar so ignore everything past that, but what you do hear is the rattle of chains, as if something is trying to break free. Rolan can see/target wolf three but it benefits from 1/2 cover, he cannot see/target wolf 14. Osrik can see/target wolf three but it has 3/4 cover, he cannot see/target wolf 14. Abhkari cannot see/target wolf three nor wolf 14.

You can currently see everything other then the black squares on the map. The wolves begin to jump towards both you and the bodies, trying to eat you, but the chain pulls about 7 ft. in front of you making it unable to move past the uneven stone steps.

All PCs can now go in any order.

Yes, animal handling (I'm going to check this myself).

19 + 1 = 20. You throw the goblin to the wolves and they snatch at it hungrily. Their alignment improves as you throw another one. They seem to be somewhat friendly now (neutral feelings towards you if this were 3.5). They aren't attacking you now.
