Other than dipping 1 in a class with IF, or factotum/exemplar, etc...

what are ways to get IF as a class skill (Able learner takes care of the rest.)

If you're human, a 1 level dip in Human Paragon lets you pick any 10 skills as class skills, and adaptive learning functions as able learner for one of those skills.

Unfortunately, it is significantly harder to get class skills without multiclassing in 3.5 than in PF. Which is funny, because class vs cross class skill means a lot more in 3.5

It's made even harder by the fact that Iiajutsu Focus is a 3.0 skill that wasn't updated, so the only places where it is a class skill are essentially Oriental Adventures PrCs. Factotum only gets it because it gets all skills.

Aereni Focus (from Player's Guide to Eberron) is a feat that makes a skill of your choice a class skill and gives you a +3 bonus on checks using the skill. On the downside, you can only take it at first level and you need to be an Elf from Aerenal, so it doesn't exactly line up with the Able Learner plan.

If your DM doesn't mind 3.0 material (and considering you're using Iaijutsu Focus, I'm assuming they don't), the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting's version of the Cosmopolitan feat lets you take any one skill as a class skill, and gives you a +2 bonus on checks with it.

The main issue is that there's a 3.5 feat of the same name in Player's Guide to Faerun–but it has wildly different and frankly boring effects (bonuses to a few social skills). So the general rule of "3.0 material is legal if it hasn't been updated" is kind of up in the air here; it's been 'updated,' and the fluff requirements line up (they're both regional feats which require the same regions), but apart from the name it's an entirely different feat.

See also the Apprentice Feat fromthe DMG 2 you'll need to run it by the DM as it isn't exactly RAW but it's reasonable that you can expand the list from the options offered in the text.

a common house rule is that skill focus allows you to treat the skill as a class skill for the rest of your characters life. i agree with this and you could ask your DM that since your character has taken specific time to train in this area (a feat) could he have it as a "class skill"
