The Battle of the Thousand Orcs

It's has been over six thousand years that the desertic realm of Jalavia began their favored sport: hunting orcs.
King Jairo XII was the one who called the orc hunting, which pretty much turned into a bloody massacre, the orcs once lived in "peace" (fun enough is the fact that there's no word for "Peace' in orcish - there is also no word for "word" or "fun" too) with their several tribes in the vast desert that is now Jalavia.
Why King Jairo XII decided to hunt the orcs is a mystery: the more pious say he received a vision from the deities, claiming that the orcs where a taint in the world and had to be vanquished from the world! Some says the scouts found gold in the desert, a lot of gold and that the King made up the crusade looking for it (which turned to be true: a land rich of gold, but no much for wood, food or water); the more old say it was because the Orc King slayed the Jairo's baby son and he took revenge on the whole race; but only the most courageous talk about the fact Jairo XIII was born half-orc...

The Jalavian army quickly killed the Orc King and put the orcs on the run, killing and capturing them to be used on the arenas for people entertainment: Orc Throw, Fight the Legion, Grab that Stinky Orc being some of the most popular games. Every year there's the Jalavian Tourney and each time more and more orcs are slaved to be put in these shows. But after the last Tourney things got really bad.

The orcs who managed to escape build their homes at the northerns and western boundary of the Jalavian Desert and created their Red Kingdoms: thirteen great orc tribes being lead each by their Red Kings. Because of their chaotic nature, the orcs never managed to cause too much trouble, but eventually incursions turned into entire villages being looted, razed and slaved. But this time they found a leader. A Messiah.

Their so believed Orc Messiah stepped on the world it seems. A son of Gruumsh or even Gruumsh reborn if the legends tell the truth.
With powers beyond this world he alone defeated every one of the Thirteen Red Kings and reunite under a single banner: his own.

It wasnt the first time the orcs managed to find a leader to lead them all, but this Messiah is diferent... Far diferent. Every diviner who tried to locate him and spy on him was found dead in a pool of blood and gore and ever since the word about his coming spread several powerful orcs began to appear. Orcs wielding magic. Near indestructible orcs. Orcs capable of laying waste in several cities. These powerful orcs, when captured revealed only that they were blessed by their god himself.

With hordes and hordes of powerful orcs raiding the northern cities and even managed to reach 10 miles from the capitol city, Escapularia, a call to all the great heroes was send through the realm and everyone of them joined the northern and western fray to stop their menace. Except you.

For whatever reason you ignored or failed to answer the call and stayed in the far southern border at the former city of Verdant Valley, far away from conflict and with only the allied Serpentis Kingdom (a coalization of seven realms who live through trade along the winding Serpentis River) as possible "threats". That's was a huge mistake.

The battle who raged here was so brutal that the ruins of the keep is now called the Crimson Valley, because everyone in there died and the sudden incursion led by the Messiah himself layed waste to everything in its path being only defeated at the Deicidye Battle.

Seven heroes and a handful of too young or too old recruits is all that were in the town and their tales (and deaths) were heroic and they're considered some of the Greatest National Heroes of Jalavia.

This is the recollection of this desperate battle. The last stand of the heroes who were able to fend off the orcs for long enough to avoid the whole kingdom to fall. Their fates are sealed and nothing can change destiny... Or am I that bad in History? Could the small group of heroes be able to change destiny itself and rewrite the tragic ending of this story?

Fauvin breaths a sigh of relief as he watches the troops far down below march off. Flapping his wings once to gain a bit of altitude, he wheels lazy circles in the sky.
Those poor fools. Off to dull the orc's axes.

He turns his eyes back towards the city, several hundred feet below. Some people mulled about, but not many. He was starting to get good at telling folks apart by the tops of their heads.
Wood Elf. Very strong. Syco. The man seemed to be a weapon, without fear or restraint. But maybe that was just his opinion.
Brown hair. Male. Tall. An enchanter of some sort, but he didn't know much besides that.
Blonde hair, thin. Male. Armored. Khan... no, Kanhar? Something like that. He didn't know much about him.
Red hair, long. Muscular. Male. That was the friendly northman.
Blonde hair, short stature. Female. Soalis. She was the woman who was always looking up at the sky. At first it had made him uneasy; he thought he was being watched. But soon he had grown not to mind her so much, eventually taking a bit of comfort that someone knew he was up there.

Eventually he glided down into the city street, folding his wings behind him and feeling a bit of regret that he didn't join the others that went to war.
Nothing a bit of beer won't fix... he thought, as he took a step into the Breaching Whale Pub.

The door to the tavern banged open and unusually a blast of cold air followed. The hulking figure in the doorway paused, a massive red bearded warrior with sword and shield surrounded by a thin aura of swirling snow and ice. The moment of tension passed as the man spoke... Aengrist frozen blessing upon all here. Wench... a round of drinks for all here. Striding in he flicks a few gold towards the nearest serving girl to cover mead. Has the army left already? I have journeyed far to join the troops.

Hearing they have left already he sighs taking a gulp of ale. They have left? No matter I will catch up in the morning. A room please. linking about he spies the elf in the bar and walks towards Syco, Greetings I am Aengrist Ironbirn, son of Jorvik. I have come to slay the orc..

The first thing you see is the gleam coming off his set of mithral fullplate armor. You see pointed tanned coppery tinged with green and brown ears through the cut in the helmet. blonde hair spills out of thehelmet to meet at his houlders. He's almost 6 feet tall for an elf and gives off an air of solitude. The very air around him is even quiet as if too respetful to make a sound. Gliding towards the tavern he takes a moment outside to look back at the receding noise of the army. Shaking his head What fools! They left without one of the best scouts around. Their blood will paint the landscape if the orcs get to them.

Heading into the tavern he takes a seat and quietly makes a gesture to one of the tavern wenches to come take his order. Taking off the helmet Kanhalthar reaches for his pouch to pay for the meal and drink he'll be ordering. When the wench wench shows up he speaks clearly but low enough not to carry. A meal and a spot of ale to slake my hunger. He slides her a gold piece. He looks around taking note of the other oddities in this place; another wood elf...looks familiar, a massive human with sword and shield, a winged creature with the largest bow he's ever seen.

He keeps coming back to the fellow wood elf. Theres a resemblance that will not leave his mind. Then it hits him, this is the famous orcslayer Syco he's heard so much about. Some say he's just as bad as the orcs...a ravenous hunger for blood that no amount of orc bodies has quenched...yet.

Soalis is going into town today, so she double checks her hair, but she doesn't bother changing out of her robe. There's not going to be anything in town worth changing into a dress. The earrings go in of course. One last look in the mirror - light grey robe properly belted to show off her waist. Just a touch of shadow to draw attention to her eyes. Everything is set, so she puts away her mirror, speaks her standard travelling spells, and starts walking at a brisk pace.

Coming into town she takes her eyes off the clouds and looks around to see if there's anything interesting, then heads for the pub for some fun. There's an energy and confidence as she walks in. Her eyes quickly sum up the elf and the raptoran, but the boy with the cold air is interesting, despite the beard. So, she gives him a friendly smile and walks over. He looks like the type who'd want to start a conversation.

@Fauvin: you fly in the skies and watch the troops depart leaving only a few in town. Thankfully it is a border city so far away from the battle that everything should be ok.

From atop your mighty wings you watch them and try to remember each one by the top of their heads, but one of them seems to be also watching for you.

What is that the old lady look so much to the skies?

@Aengrist : this desertic kingdom showed much promise for the ones like you who love wars, but it seems you came here late, as the troops already took the road toward Escapularia and the northern/western frontiers, where the real action is.

The hot wind is cooled by your presence and you quickly order some beer and watch the elf in the corner.
Since you're in this peaceful town why not make some fiends before leaving on the morrow?

@Kanhalthar: you step in the tavern and find it more empty than normal.
This city being a trade passage from the many merchants caravan coming from the Serpentis Kingdoms is usually full of trading and people drinking and partying. Seems that even this far from the battle fray the war took some step here... But at least you are safe here: the city have great walls and is protected by both sides from the mountains of the verdant Valley.

You watch the wood elf in a corner and wonder if he is really the famed orckiller people tell about.
Being so hateful, the army decided to leave him here for fear he could get in a bloody frenzy and start killing everyone in the battles to come: jalavians and orcs.

You approach him and recognize him and also not a tall man, northern with a cold aura approaching the elf as well.

@Soalis: you look yourself in the mirror: you're not eghteen anymore, but you sure way better looking than most of the them (or at least that's what your mirror shows you). You get dressed and put your favorites earings and walk in the city streets and look at the skies and see the raptoran flying high, but it's beyond him taht you are looking.

Clouds. They can tell much things if you are skilled enough to spot it. And that you are.
Omnious clouds in the sky, signs of trouble and peril to come. But it's weird.

You enter the pub and see there are few people around, but some nice and interesting ones at that.
You were approaching them when the wench gives you a glass of beer, "Courtesy of the bigguy there", she tell you as keep moving giving free glasses to the ones present. Two elves stand in the corner as well as the muscular northern man.

Free drinks are good, but you cant shake tottaly the bad feeling you got from the clouds.

Fauvin pulls his goggles up into his hair as he walks into the bar. Almost immediately, he is handed a drink.

Well now, that's what I like to see.

After taking a swig of beer, he makes his way over to the northman that had bought it.

"My thanks sir. Nothing like a drink between acquaintances, no? What brings you to this faraway town?"

Sitting at end of the tavern, smocking a pipe and appreciating a plate of grapes and lettuces embedded cinnamon, fire peppers, salt and dip of sugar sausage, is a gray elf that runs by the nick El Engandor - at your service or vice. In front of him is a woman, gorgeously dressed with one part annoyed, one part depressed expression that reluctantly establishes eye contact with others. In true, this noble woman are trying to hire him to secretly spy her husband, a lord of some notoriety in Jalavia. She hopes this guy could find any prove of adultery, or make it himself. They don't exchange a single word but it seems the deal is made. She hands a envelop to him and depart.

After that, the elf stands his hand and calls for the waitress. "Would you please bring another bottle of wine? But this time you can say for the innkeeper that the senior and most important inspector, I, of the Ministry of Health and Hosteling of Jalavia are here attest this place quality." As Faunvin approaches the big northman claps tankards together smiling, "I am Aenghir of the North. I have come to hunt down the orc... But alas the gods delayed me and I have arrived too late. Looking at the strange raptoran he shrugs and points at the wings. " What manner of race are you descended from? Are you birthed from the dragons?"

As Soalis enters Anegrist smiles broadly, wiping ale from his thick beard. Bowing clumsily hampered by the armour and weapons he speaks, "Your beauty rivals that of golden haired Sif herself fine lady. Could I know your name?"

Soalis looks Aenghir in the eye, smiles again, and replies 'Soalis Windguide. My thanks for the drink. It's been a while. Good to have someone to drink with before I go see what the deal is with the sky being all threatening for what reason I don't know. Don't suppose you'd like to come with? Could be trouble.

Another one looking to be in the thick of battle? I guess it's true what they say: War breeds fighters and fighters breed war.

He takes another swig of the beer and ***** an eyebrow at the northman's question.
"Afraid not. We share the gift of flight, but that's about where our similarities end."
He extends his wings a bit and ruffles the feathers to show their difference from dragon's wings.
"In ancient times, my people made a powerful pact with the old Wind Lords, and received this gift. It's said that each raptoran feels a special connection to the wind and sky, whether or not he can actually cast spells." Fauvin says, with a sideways glace at Soalis as she arrives.
"Or so the legends go." He gives a mysterious shrug. "And these gods that delayed you; to whom do you owe loyalty, if at all?"

He turns as Soalis joins their conversation. "A pleasure, Lady Windguide. It is not often you meet someone who reads the clouds."

Is gold text too hard to read?

@El Enganador: it's seems that the maid as already read your mind as she was with a tankard of beer and handed to it to you "Courtesy of the tall man there", she tells but then she almost shriek when you lie about being a very important person and she quickly run back to the bar and in matter of minutes a small feast is set on your table... Way too much for you to eat yourself.

@Soalis: sitting at a table is a charming young el with silver hair talking with Anastacia, a noble woman who is married to one of the generals of Jalavia. Poor woman, while she's here praying to him, he's probably with a dozen women.

You then keep your attention at the crowded corner where the two elves, the raptoran and the northern man.

@Anegrist: you speak with the raptoran and learn that instead of dragons, this race is more like angels or bird, blessed by the gods of air if what he says is true.

@Faunvin: trouble is the sky? Weird. Things seemed normal so far, but now that Soalis spoke about it, you can feel a chill in your wings and feel a cold wind passing right at your ear, almost as if whispering some bad omen. Or maybe is just the northern and his gelid aura?

@Syco: you stay alone and drinking from the beer offered to you by the viking guy. Seems your solitary corner just began too crowded: a viking, a fellow elf, an old (but still good looking) lady and even a raptoran are now sitting close to you and speaking about weather and other nonsense.

You quietly watch your bear and see its surface shake. Weird.
Then it shakes again.

@Kanhalthar: you keep trying to make Syco, the famed orcbaner, notice you but something else distract you.
You can swear you heard drumming. Like the Orchish War Drummers' drums.

@Neitha-Guruth: war is always good for business, at least for your kind of business: no one miss a few corpses missing when in the middle of the battlefield... as long as its orcs. There are strickly laws about animating jalavians and almost an incentive for the orchish ones.

Coming from the Serpentis Kingdoms, you reach the Verdant Valley city: normally a crowded city, it's now almost empty as the warriors had left this morning to the battle front. Seems you wont be able to get your spoils of war for sometime, if only you knew it you could have paid that conjurer the 2000 he wanted for a single teleport spell.

Oh well... You better get ready to depart on the morning, with a tireless skeleton horse maybe you can reach the army in no time.

With the blazing sun above you decide to some shellter in the local pub: Breaching Whale Pub.

@The Party: you all smell the good food being put at the silver haired elf, but the smell is quickly clouded as a a stranger enter the pub door, folllowed by 4 others covered with heavy black robes... and the smell of death.

Not being jalavians one can walk around with undead, as long as they're dressed that way to avoid causing disconfort of the poeple. That and being orchish ones.

Everybody gaze at each other and then it comes...
At first it seemed like a light earthquake (not too uncommon in Jalavia), but then you hear the drumms. Then the marching steps echoing through the valley.

What is happening? Is the Serpentis Kingdoms so opportunist that decided to invade? It dont make sense!

But then you hear the sound of glass breaking.

@Syco: you drop your glass. Orcs, you can smell them even this far. A lot of them.
A maniac smile is drawn in your face as you begin to laughter like a crazy man.

Watching the scene unfold Kanhalthar slightly smiles at the antics of the other occupants. Still not sure if that one over there is the orcslayer he waits patiently for his food and drink. When the drums started up he got a bad feeling like he's heard this before. Dismissing it he figures the Serpentis Kingdom has decided to take advantage of Jalavias predicament with the orcs. Then it hits him like a runaway horse, the last time he heard these drums was when his own village was attacked. The army barely left. Could they have lost this quickly? Fools should've waited for me. Well guess they did paint the landscape red...

Looking over at syco he sees a maniacal grin that confirms his worse fears. Getting up Kanhalthar redons his helmet and reaches back to draws a rather ornate 6' bow from the quiver on his back. a long but slender sword sits right next to the quiver a testament to his martial abilities. He doesn't miss a step as he heads for the door. Looking at the bar tender. Get as many as you can to safety. Feeling a rush come over him he rushes out the door to meet his destiny and the enemy.

"- Tell your employer that his gratitude will not pass unnoticed by the Ministry and, perhaps, the king himself." :smallwink:

More amused by his own capability of beguiling than by the food, El Elganador takes a single bite of the dish as a rather delightful tough comes to his mind. Such pretty little wench could make a rather acceptable companion this night... but then his elven ears grasp sound. A distinct sound. Like those made by rhythmic beats, wild in some way, but ordered, martial.

In a split second, his mind wash away all unnecessary thoughts and closes around the hypotheses that orc attack right here, at very rear guard of Jalavia Empire, right now, when most of the defenders are away, chasing the main body of the green menace, would be as likely as the outcome of any dawn. "- Humpf, you are as a fool as those you deceive elf." He whisper to himself.

Than he stands and speaks his mind to the others. "- Ladies and gentleman, it seems we are about to become brothers in arms." His countenance shows no fear, no passion. Perhaps some kind of amusement due the small grim in his mouth.

Aenghir paused at the sound of the drums, the horn of mead falling from his hand shattering on the ground. Looking around he scans the inn. "Call to arms... there sounds like a fair few of them. Any of you that wishes to retreat and warn the army I'll understand. I'll head up to the passes to hold them as long as I can... I'd like some company!

Checking his armour and weapons he steps outside into the warm air, looking to the source of the noise and from where the orcs may be coming from...

Is this evening / morning ?
Are the orcs due to arrive very soon?

"Ambushing unicorns is bad!" they would say
"Don't chop off the fingers of your neightbors!" they would say
"Why do you punch the elderly in the groin?!" they would say

But they never say "You shouldn't do this kind of things to orcs anymore, you know..."

---------

As the others come to his corner, Syco greets them politely and chats a very little, keeping his thoughts to himself. He is obviously an adventurer, but does not seem like a madman nor as someone confortable at reciving strangers at his table. He drinks some of his beer, leaving in the air the question wheater he was that orcslayer that accidentally killed his squad captain over a issue with supper or not.

He was.

In fact he did not arrive to late to join the army. He was just kicked out by the army (again) because even him is not worthy the trouble he could create, speacilly with so much people arround. He was digesting that issue, holding back his urge to kill the fools that refused him when he hear the drums, and senses the smell... Orcs... Syco does not care about the village, glory or fame. He does not care if all of Jalavia falls (altought he recognizes the usefullness of allies in battle). All that matters is that orcs are comming, an he is allowed to kill them.

It is impossible to hide his inner self at this moment. His sickned grim shows madness and desire for violence, seldon seen in civilized races. Between his laughts he adresses the other warriors that gathered arround in the tavern, with a perturbed voice "Orcs are coming, now. Time to feed our lust with screams of death and shrieks of pain"

@Party: you decide to stepo outside and there it is from the distance you can hear and see a gigantic army of orcs coming to town. They're far, but not that far, maybe ten minutes or twenty tops.

The town cleric hurry to you.
"Please! Everyone calm down I'll Send to the Capitol and soon some reinforcements will be coming here".
He begin casting the Sending spell when the skies become turbulent as dark clouds appear on it, forming an orchish face.

"NONE SHALL LEAVE THIS PLACE! I, THE ORC MESSIAH CONDEMN YOUR POOR EXCUSE OF FLESH FOR ALL THE YEARS OF ORC HUNTING! FOR TODAY IT WILL BE YOUR BLOOD THAT WILL PAINT THIS VALLEY AND ONCE WERE DONE WITH YOU ALL OF JALAVIA WILL FALL! PREPARE FOR YOUR DOOM!".

And then the face burst into several thunderbolts that hit a few houses, the church and the cleric, destroying it as people run screaming only to find gigantic wall of blades cutting your way from retreating.

"NO HELP WILL COME! NO ONE WILL LEAVE HERE!"

What can you do?
To East and West there are the impenetrable mountains.
To the North a gignatic wall of axes and swords and scythes.
To the South a Thousand Orcs, their fists raised high and blood in their faces.

The dark clouds remain above the valley. Sure a dark omen.

@Kanhalthar: the few old and young recruits left in the city step toward you and the party, "You're from the Army, right? Were here to help. We'll delay them as long as needed for the rest to escape. What should we do?"

Fauvin listens to the message with a growing sense of dread. So, the orcs had shown some tactics after all, drawing army away to smash the town. He pushed through the town in a haze, as folks ran left and right. Could he fly out of here? Probably. But that would certainly doom all those who couldn't. Could he fly people out, one at a time? Unlikely. Too many people and too little time.

That left only to fight. Fauvin spread out his wings, and drew his bow to his talons.

"Brave people of this city! There comes a time when the will of man is tested. For us, it is now. If you have gods, pray to them. If you have swords, draw them. If you have shields, hold them high, for today we fight for our lives!"

With that, he pushes off the ground in several powerful strokes, quickly gaining altitude. He pulls his goggles back down and casts his gaze to the South, and to the orcs. Bow clutched in his feet, he knocks an arrow, and begins lining a shot.

They will not take this city. Not on my watch.

Fauvin is flying about 100 feet in the air, provided the weather isn't too dangerous to fly that high.

As soon as orcs get within 3298 feet of the town, he'll start firing. (Doing a bit of Pythagorean theorem to make sure the diagonal distance is in range.)

Getting outside Kanhalthar sees that things as always have gone from bad to worse, there is a massive horde of orcs close enough to be a threat. The cleric starts to placate the populace when a ominous missive is delivered before the cleric, church, and some homes are destroyed. His face remains calm and passive through the whole affair.

A barrier of blades to one side, mountains to either side, and a horde of orcs. Well at least we have a psycho with us...we need to funnel these brutes.

The kid comes up and addresses him and the party. You, you , you, and you...he points to those with ranged weapons. Man those towers, indicating the ones facing toward the orc horde. When they rush in cut from the sides and try to funnel them through here. He's indicating the middle of town. Choose your shots well, look to take out leaders and any casters. Take any thing you can use to drop on them should they break through and you run out of ammunition. Take any extra weapons or equipment you think you might need.

Addressing the other volunteers. Bar the gates. Set yourselves at the building line. Respond to any break in defenses. He splits them into teams of no less than three to defend any breach in the defenses or fight in the streets/house to house should it come to that.

If theres any spots in the towers for another bowman he takes it. Checking over his equipment, he makes sure that it's right where he can get to it easily.

Mounting up he watches the massive force bearing down upon them. Eyes scanning looking for what sort of creatures are attacking, if there are any giants or other creatures in the approaching horde.

As he watches he begins to pray, drawing out from his scroll pouch two pieces of worked narwhal horn that glows with power. Reading aloud the runes of power written on it he feels the spell take effect as his armour is sheathed in ice and power flows through it.

This takes all the fun out of investigating what is going on with the clouds. Not to mention taking all the fun out of going to a pub. When Aenghir calls for company Soalis says simply "You got it." and starts moving in the same direction.

When the lightning blasts come she's all practicality - she focuses a mere moment, speaks a word, and she's protected from lightning (resist lightning 30, duration 110 minutes, CL 11). That's just what you do in a lightning storm, and this one is controlled by an enemy no less.

That done, she speaks up and says "Look, I can make a small bastion, but it will be of earth, and not nearly as high as these walls. I can use it to directly guard the gate on our right, and provide a place to blast down the whole length of the wall. Does anyone object, and does anyone have what it takes to guard the thing while I blast orcs from it? I've got wind and snow at my call, and lots of it. Speaking of which, if that is as many orcs as it seems, I may need to drop a killing blizzard. Everywhere. If so, we'll need to get people to safety, unless they can protect themselves or tough it out and then heal up. Short of that, I've got some more controlled, and even more lethal ways of getting the sky to ruin their day. So - who wants to cover gates, and is anyone willing to guard a bastion up close, if it comes to it?"

Even with those clouds overhead, I should be able to be high enough to reach any of you from up there with my bow, so send me a message if you need a hand."

With that, he takes to the skies, flying low for the time being. Taking a temporary perch on the tower, he looks to those assembled.
"Archers!" He calls out, as soon as they are placed on the wall. "Take your shots carefully! One good arrow is worth ten lousy ones. I'll point out special targets as they arrive but until then I want you shooting at the nearest orc to the wall. And remember, there's hundreds of them out there and a handful of us: I want you firing at will, but there's not enough of you to afford getting killed being a hero. I don't care if you have a shot on the Orc Messiah himself: if there's an arrow coming at you, you duck down, got it? The bards will sing about us folks, make no mistake. Let's make them pay for every inch!"

Spot check to identify (in order of how hard it might be):
How many orcs. (So I can IC know that there are 1000)
Other monsters they might have.
Marching patterns and any scouting/flanking parties.
Priority Targets: Casters, healers, engineers, leaders.

@El enganador: you put the telepathic.link and decide to test how lethal the wall behind is.

The ilusory jalavian soldier march and is dismembered in a gory show.
In your mind your hear Syco's laughter and maniac thoughts and youre not very sure if he enjoyed the illusion get butchered or not.

@Soalis: you look at those clouds and try to read it. The answer is obviously death, vengeance and doom.

You think back and realizes it must be some powerful weather magic, one beyond everything else you have ever know a mortal could handle.

@Aluvin: you fly in the skies but stay not high enough for the crackling clouds do anything at you, the winds here are strong, but not strong enough to hind your arrows.

You took a meticulous look at the Messiah's face in the sky beford it exploded in lightning and try to find him, but theyre so far you cant really see them yet, only a large green mass of orcs, standarts, some heavy machines and what appears to be a great portal from where more and more orcs are coming out.

Seems the Messiah have not only power over weather but also dimension magic. Probably powerful, but youre not one tgat can tell much.

@Kanhaltar: maybe is your aura of leader or the fact you looks like a jalavian captain, but the recruits cone to you and wait for you to order them.

"How many bows and swords you need? Where should we stay?".

Thats when a recruit comes out of the church ruins.

" Captain! I found this in the church! Father Karl probably was keeping it for later".

Taking a look at the treasure trove Kanhalthar starts handing out the clw potions to the Jalavian soldiers. Take these and use them when your injured or another near you is injured. Get the villagers in the best fortified building in town. Make sure they know to barricade themselves in and don't come out till we summon them. When their done with that he takes them to the defenses and starts assigning them their posts. As many archers as can fire from them man the towers. The rest of you archers will be on the wall with me. The rest of you take your spot by the towers for when the defenses are breached and respond as necessary.

Aengir looks on in approval as the bastion forms from the earth and the 20 strong militia close the gates bolting the gates and beginning to stack great piles of rubble behind the two gates to ensure that they could not be opened. Aenghir looks on in approval before bringing Sleipnir to the edge of the bastion and mounting up.

Waiting till the orcs close slightly he bows his head low and intones a few prayers, eye blazing cereluan blue. Before mounting up and racing forward across the desert. Great shield and ancient scroll in hand. Rearing up in a great swirl of sand and Aengir drops behind the horse beginning to read the scroll aloud as grey clouds descend and with a roar a massive white frost hand and the grim face of the winter god Thrym himself can be seen! A massive raging snowstorm descends on the approaching army as the world is reduced to snow and frost that stops abruptly in a whirling vortex some 40ft in front of the walls and the bastion. Aengir leaps to his saddle, the hulking horse beginning to race back towards the bastion through the deep snow.

You step and watch them closer marching quickly through the sands and yelling profanities as you read an anciant text and a single white snowflake fall in the first orc head.

"Snow? On desert? Whathef...!?"

And then snow pour downon them as they curse from the sudden cold.

You smile victorious and ride back, but it seems it was just the time you began riding back that the entire snowstorm dissapears as a few shamans raise their hands and dispel your powerful magic.

@The Party? "Onward! Kill them!", "DIE!", "Attack! Charge!", "OOOOAARRRK!" shouts are heard as the orcs enter the archers range. They're still far, but your archers try the best they can, shooting several arrows fly toward the first wave.

You have 5 rounds before the orcs reach the botton line of the map.

Looking at all those bows without hands to make they scream, El decides to give a try himself. He climbs the wall for a better sight and takes place besides one of the archer recruits.

"Can you imagine their blood-lust?" He gives a rather depressed smile.

You then look at the shaman, but he's far from reach and you try one last shot. A miserable one at that.

Close range.

@Fauvin: whatever power was under effect there it kept making the recruits arrows fail hitting their targets it seems, but not yours! Three out of six arrows managed to punch through whatever protection was deflecting the arrows, two of them hitting weak spots of the shaman who nearly die, as you can see through your raptoran's eyes that he stand firm in his blackened staff barely alive as strange enough one of the his brute bodyguards fall lifeless in the ground even though you havent aimed for him.

"GRUUMSH WILL SWIPE YOU FROM THE SKY, BIRD BOY!", he screams loud enough to everyone to hear, "CHARGE!".

@Syco: you look at the raptoran who seemed to aim for those you left alive to take the kills.

@Soalis: you was just waiting for the shaman to cast something, but seems the raptoran and the psychopath elf manage to snipe him out.

The thunder above you keep crackling with lightning waiting for your command to strike.

8 archers, 10 javelliners, 9 axemen and 5 brutes is all that remain from the second wave.
Way less deaths this time, maybe this wave will be able to get to the wall.

But what to do?
You then hear a booming sound and give the spyglass a peak and see the third wave rushing forward as well.

You can make a spot check.
What will be your actions for round 4 and 5?

@Aenghir: you ride back to the gates as Slepnnir's wounds close.
Soon enough more orcs come in the near horizon.

Without their leader they probably wont be much of a trouble, right?

Round 6

The orcs make their way in the end of the map.
One of the brutes shouts in orchish, "NO SLAVES! WE'RE TAKING NO SLAVES! LET'S DRINK THEIR BLOODS IN THEIR SKULLS!", and with that the wave move forward.

The archers get in formation and shot at the men in the walls.
The arrows flies and some are dodged, some hit the crenelations, but 4 of them hit their marks, dropping the x7 and damaging J7 archers. Hopefully the x7 archer is still alive, but if no care is given he might bleed to death.

x7 recruit took three arrows for 29 damage and is down at -5.
J7 was hit once for 8 damage but is still standing (16 out of 24 hp)

The javelliners scatter coming to the flanks, their wooden shields put high for better defense.

The brutes then each drink a potion and enlarge in size as they rage ahead, leading the attack.
The axemen charge through the desert, with the brutes raging ahead. No sign of fear in their eyes.

Soalis is happy to see the shaman go down. Plus, she got to do it. She's not entirely clear on exactly why he was on the battlefield, but she's counting this as having removed someone abusing his powers. She's a little surprised that someone who could dispel a blizzard could go down so easily. Perhaps that wasn't him. Or perhaps he got lucky. The disarmed one get down and reach for his hammer, allowing you to strike him.

Aoo aggainst the unharmed and disarmed barbarian

He then try to stomp you with his hammer, but you dodge it.

The half dead one try to stamp you into the sand but there's too much blood on his face and he cant see very good and miss.

A third brute move toward you and, now surrounded, you would expect to get hit, but your armor prove true and the attack only shake you for no damage.

The two other brutes shout. "BRING THE GATES DOWN!", and run toward the wall followed by the axemen.

The archers keep their slow march and give the man in the wall a hard time, managing to hit three arrows on J7 archer, who can endure no more pain and is brought to a point beyond salvation.

Archer J7 is now dead

The javelliners, now closer to the wall try move forward and try their luck.

@Soalis: the last one on the left side of battle dare attacking you despite distance and, was not the rampart, he would have ruined your silk dress. He then move behind a palmtree, affraid of gettting attacled by Syco.

@Recruits: the five javelliners in the right side move and let their javellins fly toward the man at V7, but the distance and the crenels prove to be at your side and he escape unscratched.

The wall then take their chances and begin their assault.
The archers turn at the brutes who are getting too close, focusing on the one of the left and making him look like a porcupine after they finished launching arrows at him.

Orc brute LM 14 15 took 35 damage.

More concerned on how Aenghir is doing, a hasted archer shot the near dead orc briute in the heart and slay it.
His second arrow goes for another brute close to Aenghir, dealing minior damage.

The other hasted archers goes for this same orc, hitting him on arms, legs, shoulder, dealing more pain at him.

On the one who took an Aoo from Aenghir.
He took 53 damage.

Depending on Aenghir's AoO he may be dead now.

@Party: the orcs from the third wave are almost at sight and so are their bloodstained standarts.

The orcs from the second wave keep marching and screaming, "FILTHY JALAVIANS! YOU'RE GOING TO DIE IN THESE SANDS!".

From the wall then you watch as the northernman is surrounded by the axemen.

@Aenghir: you stand your ground as four axemen and the brute surround you and attack you with hammer and axes.
You block the axes away, but one of them managed to cut true, as your blood is spilled in the ground.

Natural 20. You took 14 damage.

The bitter pain is enough to distract you as the brute bring his hammer down.

You took 28 damage.

@Party: seeing the viking being attacked, the archers begin to ready to their arrows, but the orc archers are faster and bring down an archer before he can do anything.

Three arrows hit. One was a critical.
x7 is now dead.

The javelliners also try, moving forward and throwing their javellins at the men in the wall, killing one and damaging another.

Javelliner at V7 is now dead.
Javelliner at P7 took 9 damage.

@Soalis: the daring javelliner get out of his hidding palce and try again, hittting you right in the shoulder and making blood stain your dress, "YOU'LL DIE! BITCH!", he shout at you as he move forward, this time with no palm trees to protect him.

"KIIIIIIIIIILLLLLL! KILL THEM ALL!", you can hear a full armored orc shout all the way to the wall as the orcs join "KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL!".

Renewed with a morale boost, the orcs keep their attacks.
The single surviving orc close to Aenghir give up on bringing the viking down and attack at his steed as the others split toward the right and main gates.

@Recruits: the surviving archers and javelinners move forward and attack the men at the wall.

The javelliners then finish the job.
A javeliner give him a power throw and take him down, bleeding and unconscious, but still alive.

The other javelliners aim at the dd5 archer, also bringing him down, but not dead yet.

dd5 archer took 25 damage and is at -1 hp

The recruits then look at the downed archers and shout at the melees to rescue the downed ones.
They move forward and begin to climb the walls, ready to deliver potions to the ones who went down.

@Aenghir: you move clumsyly in the sandy terrain and attack the attack the last soldier, killing it outright.
He killed Sleipnir, he deserved a much more brutal death.

Since the sand is considered dificult terrain you cant charge.
Since you cant reach and attack the C31 Soldier, I moved you to an orc within your reach (last archer from 2nd wave).

Difficult Terrain: Difficult terrain, such as rubble, an uneven
cave floor, thick undergrowth, and the like, hampers movement.
Each square of difficult terrain counts as 2 squares of movement.
(Each diagonal move into a difficult terrain square counts as 3
squares.) You can’t run or charge across difficult terrain.

@Soalis: damn shaman! He completely nullified your powerful magic.
You then concentrate and bring down a lightning strike on the damaged war drummer which corpse is turned into a crackling pile of ashes.

@Recruits: with no one shouting orders, they decide to focus on the ones close to the wall.
The archers close to the main gate shoot down the orc who was trying to break it and the rest shot down one of the orcs at the creaked wall section.

The orcs break the P7 section of the wall, forcing the P7 archer to jump to Q7 to avoid falling.

The third wave then acts.
The orcs scouts move unhindered by the sand terrain as they recharge their heavy crossbows.

The orcs soldiers move forward, with the one close to Syco swinging blindly his handaxe hoping to hit him, but failing. Another soldier move to get close of the invisible threat.

The orcs brutes keep moving, one engaging in melee with Aenghir and another swing his heavy hammer at the spot where Syco is.

@Syco: the great orc move and in his blind rage he manage to actually hit you. Ouch.
You took 26 damage

The orc champion move toward you, but his heavy armor make his progress kinda slow.

@Party: The orc war drummer, seeing the shaman falling unconscious, double move toward the shaman, but is unable to reach him this round.

Another orc soldier then move and get into melee with you, but the desertic terrain force him to double move to get close enough.

@Soalis: the arbalests on the left move and cluster themselves between the lake and a palm tree as they send three bolts darting your way.
One miss the attack, the second hit the rampart and the third hit you for some pain.

The fourth wave then reach the end of the map.
The ten orc brutes drink potions and shout thundering roars, as they grow in size and march forward. But these arent raging like the others. Four move ahead while the rest stay close to the siege weapons.

Now close you can finnaly see the siege weapons: the mangonel is filled with what appear to be dead bodies: humans, elves, dwarves, halfling and orcs. No matter gender or age, with even a few babies. A rotten smell comes from it and you can see that the engineers close to it dont look very pleased with it, despite the orcish fortitude.
The orc necromancer shout orders to them as they begin aiming toward the main gate as he cast a necromantic spell in the mangonel's cargo.

@Soalis and Aenghir: you look at this monstruosity of siege weapon: bone white in color several runes shine with evil magic. Necromancy.

@Fauvin: you watch the siege weapons begin aiming at the city and at you.

Several arrows fly at you and some manage to pierce your armor, dealing keen pain as you begin to feel weak due the evil magic on it.

You took 26 damage and you took 3 negative levels

@Party: the men at the wall look toward the siege weapons and decide to put the engineers down before them manage to shoot whatever damned ammo it got.

One engineer from the mangonel took 30 damage.

@Soalis: You take a look at your spyglass toward the next wave: 8 soldiers, 8 scouts, 4 champions and two shamanic figures. One holding what seems to be a rock shaped in a great staff and the other with what appears to be a spear with a human head on it.

You then begin casting a powerful spell, making your body feel numb with the sudden cold you're drawing.
Once all incantation is done your whole body feel cold. But it feels good.

An avalanche then falls from the sky burying the orcs in 20ft of snow.

The Third Wave
The confused ones (brute and soldier) as well as the wounded scout are dead by the avalanche, their bodies buried under tons of snow.

The other three scouts manage (Thor know how) to escape it and and stay on top of the snow, unharmed.

3 dead and 3 unharmed

The Fourth Wave
The whole wave is deep down in sh1t snow, even the siege weapons which probably wont be a threat anymore now that all eight engineers are dead.

8 deads, 12 buried alive and 2 buried siege weapons

The Fifth Wave
With the blizzard coming at them, you watch the shaman with the rock staff raise it quickly and make himself along with two champions and the other caster away, appearing inside of the city walls, dazed and confused apparently.

The rest of the wave tries to resist the blizzard.
Five out of eight scouts manage to dodge it and remain unharmed, but the other 3 are buried alive.
Two out of eight soldiers manage to avoid being buried, but the other six are deep in snow.
The two champions are buried in snow while the other two are safe in your city walls along with the casters.

No deads, 11 buried alive.

@Aenghir: you move back to the gate and surround yourself in obscuring snow.

@Syco: you wanted to show the big ones some love, but sadly they are buried, so you decide to charge one of the scouts, cutting him in half as you do so, but it was only his blurred silhouete, as he managed to avoid your attack.

@Fauvin: you look at the shamans and decide that you dont like the one carrying a human head in his staff and shower him with arrows and see the same wild wind ward trying to deflect your arrows, but all prove true and arent redirected: one on shoulder, other on his arm and the other in the chest. The last one hit his armor and couldnt pierce it. Apparently he wear a heavy armor under is several robes and human skull necklace.

He took 39 damage

@Party: the ones from the fifth wave then act.
The shaman with the rockshaped staff recovers from daze while the other shaman (the one with a human head on his staff) look at the melees and shout to the champions, "KILL ALL OPPOSITION!".

And so they do.
The first champion step closer to the jalavian melee and raise his sword as a feeling of opression and helplessness fills the air.

Everyone takes a -1 penal to AC as long as the champions are on the map

He bring the sword down, crackling with unholy energy, bringing it down twice and killing the jalavian melee.

The second one charge with his sword coated in unholy flames and end the finish the life of another jalavian melee.

The shaman smiles with evil glee as he see the two champions carrying his murderous intent.
He then look at the flying ones: El Enganador and Fauvin, but decide to ignore them for a moment.

"THERE'S NO HOPE OR SALVATION FOR YOU! CAUSE YOU ARE FACING THE CHOSEN ONES! I AM GRUUMSH'S WRATH OVER TOO MUCH TIME OF PAIN AND SLAVERY!", he shouts and point at the main gate's tower and raise his clenched fist as a gigantic flame fist appear in the sky and mimic his own hand.

He look at the tower archers and punch the ground as the gigantic one repeat its move and descends scorching the two archers and the tower, putting it in flames.

The archers on that tower were all killed.
The tower took 64 damage

The one close to Syco tumble away from him him and shoot the man in the wall, killing him.

Q7 archer is now dead

The second scout move and shoot at dd5 throwing a javellin at his bladder, killing him.

dd5 archer is now dead

The last scout look at the Iron Wall dissapearing and at the defenseless Soalis.

@Soalis: the illusion wall who protected you is now gone and the scout decide to take his luck with you, but the rampart cover proves true and you manage to duck behind it.

@Party: the fourth wave is entirely buried and try their best to dig out of the snow.
You then watch as three enraged barbarians crawl from the snow and shout.
Enraged as they are they dont even think in rescuing the others as they move forward

The 3 orc brutes beyond the blizzard line arent buried

The snow close to the siege weapons begins to slowly melt, like a small flame was lit under it.
But not hot enough to melt it at once. But in a few rounds maybe...

The few archer recruits then decide to kill the scouts close to Soalis, but only two manage to actually hit him. Dealing small damage.

Orc scout near Soalis took 10 damage

The melee ones slash at the champion but his defenses are so high that... wait what? One managed to hit him.

You try the best to contain you laughter, being able to fool the champions, but the shamans are way too smart and can sense your presence close to them.

To avoid getting attacked, each step away from you and each other.
The orc summoner then clap his hands together and you feel a sudden breeze around and with swoooosh! sound the orcs dissapear and reappear at other places: the champion on the right reappear inside the tower and bring steely punishment to the unlucky archers.

Two attacks to kill one of the archers.

The second champion, the one on the left, reappear 5ft tep away, being flanked by both jalavian melees.
This way he can get to hit them both...

One melee is brought to -2 hp and the other is takes 16 damage, now he's at 8 hp

EDIT: apparently I "mirrored" a jalavian melee.
So both attacks were directed at him, killing it and leaving only one jalavian melee alive (the one close to the rampart)

The summoner dissapears and reappears on top of the gray building, balancing on the roof.

The shaman is also brought on top of a house, but not the same as the summoner.
He then look at Fauvin, who kept sending arrows his way, "I'LL REMOVE FROM THE SKIES LIKE YOU WERE A MERE FLY! A FLY!", he then open his hand like it was a claw creating a small dark energy orb in the tip of each finger, launching them all at you as they turn each into a dark ray.

El decides that the orc summoner may be the bigger threat and casts a spell at him. He takes a handful of clay, crystal, glass, or mineral spheres from his component pouch and squeezes within his fist. After that a powerful wave of arcane energy engulfs the summoner's mind and attempts to obliterate his wit. In fact, El arcana made this powerful spell even deadlier due his keen knowledge about orc neurology and humanoid behavior. He custom designed a specific strand of letter to decode the orcs mind and hit where it hurts. Such strands takes the four elemental particles that control verbatim components in common spell casting (Argen, Citon, Timin and Guanim) and fires each one of then alliteratively, in pairs, in harmonic and ordered way.

"Sonofabitch!"

@Party: The fifth wave then acts.

@Fauvin and El Enagandor: from your flying position you can see the soldiers dig and rescue another soldier and... Something weird... Apparently two new holes appeared from the snow but nothing came out of it... Unless... Invisibility?

Your wounderings are stopped as the shaman begin casting again.

@Recruits: the last archers were taken by a sudden rain of stones. Boulders in fact.

18 bludgeonig damage plus 18 slashing damage (no save allowed).
Both archers are now dead and that tower took 28 damage

You then watch as a whole section of the wall breaks.

A 20ft lenght of wall is destroyed (it was already damaged by an empowered flamestrike

@Syco: the champions keep on moving toward the left gate, giving you enough time to slash at one's back, who give up on moving away and get back, striking you with unholy might, but you dodge him.

ROUND 19

@Party: Two of the last three scouts double move toward the breached wall, reaching the city.

@Soalis: the scout get out of the wall of thorns, but the thorns are too much and he end up dying before being able to leave it.

Then you watch as the barbarian stuck in the thorn wall tries to move away, but remain stuck as the thorns slash at him dealing some damage.

The brute took 10 damage and is close to death

@Aenghir: the brute keep moving away from the snow and begin get in close range to you, but is still far to reach you (40ft away from you).

You watch as another brute get away from the snow and move closer, but he is still far from you (20ft away).

The necromancers, now free from the snow look at the snow surrounding you and attempt to remove it.
The first one fails, but the second one remove the refreshing snow around you.

They look at you with evil eyes as they begin to laugh with some evil intentions.
"YOU WONT BE HIDING ANYMORE, OUTLANDER! AND SOON YOU'LL BE FIGHTING FOR US! MUAHAHAH!".

Whatever they plan next dont seem like it will be a pleasant walk in the woods...

Aenghir hisses and tuts under his breath as the pair of evil necromancers dismiss his circle of flying snow leaving him standing there atop the three bodies dripping fresh green blood. Seeing the pair of them with beady black eyes looking at him he grins somewhat amusedly. Shouting at the nearest brutes he taunts them "Come join your sisters." Emphasising the insult as he stamps down upon the groin of one of the bodies. Seconds later he is engulfed in a second swirling snowstorm before he moves towards the nearest Orc...

Soalis laughingly taunts the remaining orc in her thornwall and turns her attention to the necromancers. She itches to throw icy winds at them and win a duel of caster against caster. But she'd be hitting only one necromancer, and there are many more orcs to come. Seeing Aenghir protect himself gives her a reason to make the smart choice. She drops down below the wall and applies her wand of cure light wounds again. That arbalest hurt

@El Enganador: you touch Fauvin and make his eyes shine with a silver aura... at least it should, but since he's invisible now you cant tell for sure.

@Fauvin: as the trickster touch you you can see a whole new world. At the distance you can see there are more orcs than you first saw... Six orcs with ninja outfits digging in the snow, trying to rescue more buried from the avalanche. They're from fifth wave.

You then look at the shaman and shoot the house's door for a warning. How could you miss that bad? You blame the winds.

@Soalis: you laught at the orc trapped in the thorns and lay on the rampart, heling yourself a little bit.

@Party: the orc champion keep on running toward the left gate, but since he got a fullplate armor on it will take him sometime to reach it.

Without any targets in sight the shaman look at the main gate and shouts, "DESTRUCTION!" and create a powerful shattering vibration and destroy the main gate.

Did 49 sonic damage to the main gate, destroying it

@Fauvin: at the distance you watch the orcs pulling up their allies from under the snow: 2 orc champions, 2 orc assassins, two orc scouts and two orc soldiers were rescued, leaving no more 5th wave orcs buried. They shout and get ready to keep on advancing toward the wall.

They'll arrive at Round 23

But it seems the 6th wave and the rest wont be moving.

ROUND 20

@Party: the orc scouts move quickly towards the left gate.

@Aenghir: You watch as three more orc barbies break the ice and crawl away from the snow, leaving no more buried orc from 4th wave as well. The orchish sisters move toward you, one getting close, but not on melee (she's a 5ft step away from you) and another getting on melee, swinging her brute hammer, but missing.

The necromancers clearly annoyed by your second casting of obscuring snow summon several greenish flying skulls that slowly begin eating away your snow and enchantments.

First necromancer manage to remove your Obscuring Snow.

The second one then give you a targeted dispel magic removing both Heroics and Superior Resistance

"DO YOU FEEL NAKED NOW, HIDEOUS HUMAN?".

@Soalis: the orc brute struggle to get away from the thorns but fail, her body being thorn to pieces.

One less brute in the game

Umgh Cro grunts as he, suprised by the dust rolls out of his bed, hits the floor of his house. His head was hurting like someone was using it as a drum and he felt like the sun was shining too bright. Still lying on the floor he moves one hand to the bedtable and starts searching for some ale. He finds a cup and drinks it. Or rather he tries to do so. You see drinking while you are lying down requires a finer motoric that Cro doesn't possess in his current state. He manages to drink half of it, the rest is spilled all over his face. He sighs and reaches for the second cup on the table but when his finger touches it he redecide. I'll save it for later. His way of getting dressed isn't very elegant but the cloth and armor get's equiped nontheless.

Cro steps outside and inhales the fresh air and enjoys a breeze. This might not be such a bad day after a.. He stops as he hears a loud burning noice from behind. @Cro-Magnon: you dont really know what's going on, but what you DO know is taht whoever started this mess will suffer greatly over the spilled ale.

You look at the orcs and, lacking reach, get ready to cut them down.

@Party: the Fifth Wave then acts!
At the distance the now unburied wave march through the snow, but they're still far to reach you.

@Cro-Magnon: from the roof of a near house you hear an orchish voice, "Great! Finnaly someone not invisible! Die horribly, elf!" and his hands get a dark glow as he get ready to shoot dark bolts of evil at you, but then he stop and the energy fades. You watch as his upperhalf slowly slide and fall off as a blood covered maniac elf appear behind him laughing histerically.

@Syco: your waiting was rewarded.
As the shaman begin to cast a spell to get rid of the newcomer, you cut him in half as his magic fails him and watch his body roll off the roof and hit the ground below with a joyful splaaaash! That just made your day.

You then look the last champion running toward the bastion's back door.

They move around and shot you for some real pain.

One of them hit you for 20 damage

You then watch as one of the brutes rush through the small oasis, in blind rage toward Soalis' Rampart of Nature.

You then hear a crackling voice, "SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR FRIENDS, VIKING! THIS IS FOR YOU BEING A COWARD!".

@Soalis: you watch as the necromancers move forward and begin casting evil magic.
The western one was about to summon a murderous mist at the bastion, but you disrupt him bringing forth an utter cold wind, freezing his bones and sending him a few feets back. He is still alive (in case, undead) but his spell was completely disrupt.

You watch as the wind goes through the battlefield and freeze some enemies, even killing some.

The Boreal Wind did 27 damage.

Soalis sees that her strategy is working. The one necromancer is disrupted, and the other wants her dead. There's nothing like the thrill of making an enemy just fail. Speaking of which, those tentacles are going to be a problem in a second. The secret of water she's got running through her provides the answer to that. And the winds provide the answer to whatever the orcs to the west have going this time.

Swift action, lose Heart of Water to gain a Freedom of Movement effect for the next 11 rounds. That means she loses her swim speed and the light fortification she had.

Readying a move action to move the Boreal Wind to center on the western necromancer if he casts. If he doesn't cast, the wind will continue to go in it's current direction.

@Fauvin: with the new power granted by the mesmerizer upon you you cant shake the feeling maybe it's just a trick to make you feel stronger, but be it illusory or real, you decide to take on it as you aim for the necromancer far away from the battlefield, shooting thrice at him.

The first arrow hit him in the skull, which would kill a living being, but this one is clearly an undead.
The second arrow hit right the first arrow, piercing it and his head.
The third arrow pierce the second, the first and his skull, finnaly piercing thorugh and ening in the snow behind as the necromancer can take no more punishment and die, his flaming body slowly melting the snow and make him sink in it.

@Syco: you watch as the last orc scout shot at you and smiles.

You fly charge him, cutting him in half as you laughter and shoutt o Fauvin: "I won this round! Can you hear me bird boy? BWAHAHAHHAHAHHA".

You then hear a grunt, as the black tentacles constrict and try to break the last recruit neck, but he survive it.
If no one saves him, your last recruit may be dead soon.

@Soalis: you watch as the necromancer move away from your boreal wind and begin chanting a spell to summon a murderous haze around you and decide to move your powerful wind blast at him, freezing him over as he turn into a undead orc statue, his flaming aura being quenched by your wind spell. Sadly the wind's direction change dont get any from the next wave on it as they move away from it.

@Aenghir: the brutes come for you, trying to avenge their friends, if there is such a thing an orc can call a friend.
Both attack you, but your armor remain proving true and block the blows, but then you see someone coming out of the small oasis, sword in hand.

@Motto: you was been trained by the best swordsman in the whole kingdom. You were stubborn and did all the crazy stuff he asked you to do.

Some would say he didnt like you or was trying to get rid of you, but you almost maanged to accomplish every ridiculous task he demanded you (be it to take a gold coin for a known man-eater dragon without using your sword or harming the creature, fighting twelve of his disciples using a blindfold or meditating and fasting while under a far far away oasis).

But the fact you managed to travel this far from the war front and stay underwater for almost a week made you reflect that in fact, Master Spada of the White Sands was in fact affraid your skill would someday bypass him and you would reach greater fame than his own, so he sent you away from the path to fame: the greatest jalavian battles so far. But for his surprise, as you finnaly reach the surface to catch air, you see a horde of orcs coming through Verdant Valley's Pass.

Weak and hungry you catch up your orkatana and smile as destiny proves even more stubborn than you and your master. You'll meet glory and fame and your name will be forever added to the Jalavian History.

Aenghir looks about seeing himself so far out in front of the others. Raising his shield to the nearby armed man he turns and races back towards the fortification. Massive spiked boots not bothered by the snow, desert sand or the rubble of the gate as he scales the pile and hops over. Reaching the Fortification he skids over the border. A massive circle of spinning metal blades springing into existence around him in a spinning crescendo of death.

Motto has nothing to ready. Except the maneuvers.

If the DM permits, I'll keep the mechanic of crusader maneuvers we used in previous campaigns. To sort the maneuvers orders at the beginning of the day.

His Swordsage maneuvers don't need any order. They are:

( ) Burning Blade 1d6+7
( ) Saphire Nightmare Blade 1d6
( ) Sudden Leap
( ) Rabid Wolf Strike +4tk +2d6dmg -4AC

His Crusader will be.

1 Revitalizing Strike 3d6+8
2 Iron Heart Surge
3 Mountain Hammer +2d6
4 Cloak of Deception
5 White Raven Tactics
6 Steel Wind
7 Battle Leader's Charge

( ) Mountain Hammer +2d6

( ) [roll2] Battle Leader's Charge
( ) [roll3] Iron Heart Surge
( ) [roll4] White Raven Tactics
-( ) [roll5] Steel Wind
-( ) Revitalizing Strike 3d6+8

His stance is Island of Blades, so both him and Anghir will flank their enemies.
And if that counts as "preparation", he'll move to his side.

edit: So Aenghir did the smart thing and ran towards the remaining group. In that case Motto will run towards the remaining group, as well as the casting of Haste. His stance is Absolute Steel at first, so he base movement is 50ft.
In the mid of running, he jumps the Rubble.

@El Enganador: you heal yourself and then land on ground, shouting at everyone to get close before you cast a new spell.

@Syco: you drink two potions in a row, getting close for the whole Haste spell.

@Aenghir: you rush as quick as you can, getting through the shattered main gate and is once again back at the city.

@Motto: you rush inside the city, jumping over the rubble that was used to bar the gate, who is now destroyed by who knows what happened here.

@Cro-Magnon: you watch as the trickster land close to you, ready to cast his spell.
You just wait as the wave is coming closer and closer.

@Fauvin: you quickly shoot six arrows, aiming always to the invisible stalkers, since you're the only one capable of hitting them. You shot for the weak ones, killing four of them with four arrows.

You then take your time aimming and shoot an arrow at a ninja at his throat, almost killing him.
So to make sure, you shot another at his belly. Killing it.

Killed 5 Orc Assassins

After that you drop to the ground level.

@El Enganador: once all that would come closer get near you you make the time pass slower for them, making their movements faster and more fluid.

Syco, Aenghir, Cro-Magnon, El Enganador, Fauvin and Motto are hasted

@Soalis: you watch as all enemies are close to the city walls are dead and think what to do, as your hear another grunt of pain, as the last recruit body is cosntricted by the black rubbery tentacles.

He's at 26 out of 60 HP.

Soalis feels bad for the poor recruit, but she doesn't have a way of stopping the tentacles. She'd like to heal herself, but this guy was trying to help. So she directs the wind back at the orcs and slips through the tentacles to help the guy with a healing potion.

The boreal wind should go back where it was at first, or if Soalis can see the next wave well enough to aim it better, wherever it needs to be to hit a bunch of orcs. She's using a cure moderate potion, presumably next round.

@Soalis: you let the boreal wind swipe on the western side of the wave and rush to help the recruit, giving him some healing.

Affected:
1 Orc Soldier: he saved and took no damage/effect;
1 Orc Scout: he took the damage and was killed by it;

ROUND 23

@Party: you then watch as the remaining orcs from the fifth wave reach the end of the map:
6 Orc soliders, 5 Orc Scouts, 3 Orc Assassin (which only Fauvin see) and 2 Orc Champions.

The orc champions grip their swords and shout "GEOOOOOOOORGE!" and their shield begin to shine with a reddish glow.

"CHAAAAAAAAAAARGE!"

That's when you feel an uneasy aura at you, a menacing presence endangering your very lives.

Everyone get -1 AC as long as there are Orc Champions on the map.
Unlimited range.

The scouts shot at the ones closest to the shattered gate.

@Aenghir: the one scout shot a bolt straight at you, and you feel a painful bite as his precision proves true bypassing all your defenses.

Natural 20, but didnt confirmed critical.
You took 10 damage

@Motto: one scout try his luck at you, hitting between your ribs for some damage.

You took 16 damage

@Party: the other orcs just move faster through the snowy path.

And then you hear the sound of bones being broken, as the tentacles dont let go of the recruit.

That's round 4/7 of the boreal wind.

Going back to J12 and aiming the boreal wind diagonally now to hit the guys at C 35, E 35, D 36, H 36, J 36, K41, and anyone stupid enough to walk into it.

@Soalis: you make your gelid spell blow at the orcs, blowing two soliders and two scouts away, killing a soldier and leaving the rest damaged. The orc champions though take the wind and dont even flinch, as they manage to ignore all of it.

The distance cause some increased DC and they're ninjas! You couldnt listen them and cant target them, but with such a big area spell you may end up hitting some with it and, since both you and Fauvin are conected with Telepathic Bond and he can See Invisibility he may give you rough coordinates to hit them: "There are one hiding behind the palm tree!", for example

@Aenghir: you surround yourself with a wall of blades and wait.

The rubble isnt tall enough to grant cover, only to hinder movement :smallwink:

@Motto: not wanting to be filled with orc arrows, you hide behind the wall.

@Syco: you mimic the other newcomer, hiding from the arrows and waiting for any unaware orc to come through the gate. That would make your day even better.

@Cro-Magnon: you despise the weak human, helpless being slowly crushed to death.
You then watch the other city's protector and see how they hide behind the wall like cowards, even Syco, a fellow elf and famous orc slayer known by his brutality. Fear seems to be a trigger to break even the strongest hero, but not you.

You just cross your arms and wait for the orcs to come, not interested in hiding.

@El Enganador: you watch the orcs coming and decide to wait and see what's going to happen.
Invisible as you are, you dont bother hiding.

@Fauvin: not wanting to be caught on ground, you soar back to the sky invisible.

@Recruit: he tries to break free from the tentacles' grip, but it keep holding him and break yet another bone.

Recruit took 9 damage

@Party: the fifth wave march forward.
The soldiers rush forward through the snow and sand.

The champions keep moving with their full plate armors.

Unseen by all but Fauvin, the orc assassins swift and silently move through the desertic terrain, some hiding close to palmtrees.

The scouts move forward unhindered by the terrain.
Three of them try their luck at Soalis.

@Soalis: you watch as one scout shot at the palm tree between you and then and two amange to get through palm tree and bastion altogether.

The first 4 squares are normal terrain and the next ones are difficult right? So spending all my turn moving toward the orc army would bring me to F9 right?
