My long-time gaming group has decided to start a 3.5 campaign. (Given the DM's lack of experience in 3.5, I strongly doubt Pathfinder will be allowed.) I decided to play a Gnome Artificer, focusing on a standing back and doing BFC, with some "pets." My current build is below, along with a list of things I have made. Any recommendations/changes/etc would be greatly appreciated. (I've been reviewing the Unofficial Artificer Handbook (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=5929.0) on BG.)

Druid, maybe (He was looking at Druid in the PHB last night.)
Not sure about the 4th player (or even if she will play)

Questions
1) Would it be better to put my ability increases (at 4 and 8) into DEX, INT, or CHA? Putting 1 in DEX would raise my AC and my attack with ranged, but would mean that either INT or CHA would be left at an odd number.
2) Does casting from a wand incur ASF?
3) Do Gloves and Bracers occupy the same slot? I'd like to raise my DEX, but am already wearing bracers.
