One of my regular players has had a sudden increase in hours at work, so he can't make every session of my Rise of the Runelords campaign anymore. Consequently, one of my other players has volunteered to run an AP on weeks he's not there, and has chosen Skull and Shackles.

Now, I've never read the AP, but one of the others has already snatched up Swashbuckler out of Advanced Class Guide, and I have a sneaking suspicion that being able to summon up the wind among other things might be handy (and the player who's taking swashbuckler is playing a druid in Runelords and doing terribly at it), so I'm going with a druid with a focus on weather control.

I have a pretty good handle on the basics - take the Weather domain, proceed to prepare relevant spells including but not limited to control water, control winds, and control weather - but I've never played a druid before in any system, so I'm sure there's finer points I'm missing. All Pathfinder roleplaying game books are open. The basic requirements are pretty clear; I need to control weather and the elements, with an emphasis on ways that can help or hinder ships. If I can do this better with sorcerer, wizard, or cleric I'm also open to the idea, but the druid bonuses on control weather look awfully tempting, and so does being an eagle while controlling the storm, so it would have to be a substantial case.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Aquatic Druid (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/archetypes/paizo---druid-archetypes/aquatic-druid)
Storm Druid (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/archetypes/paizo---druid-archetypes/storm-druid)
Tempest Druid (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/archetypes/paizo---druid-archetypes/tempest-druid)

Storm Kindler (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/s-z/storm-kindler) PrC

Beware, there is quite a bit of overlap in the above (multiple "see through fog", multiple "Resist X", multiple "gain swim speed" etc...).

The PrC can be fun though, partway through you gain a Swim Speed, and the capstone gives you a Fly Speed, both at double land speed.

I'd already looked at the archetypes, and I think Storm Druid is the closest to what I'm looking for. I think I'll pass on the PrC, though; I don't think I want to give up caster levels.

Mainly what I'm after at this point is appropriate spells. The really big guns are all high level, but apart from various fog effects and gust of wind, what's good for low level play in the theme?
