View Full Version : What Undead type would compliment a psychic warrior?

I am pretty sure that staying straight PWar would be more optimal, but due to campaign happenings, my character has died and been reanimated by a necromancer.

(I'm seeing if I can cheese it to get some corpsecrafting to work on this. Is there rulings for such?)

anyway, the DM said I can take any undead template I want (besides lich or necropolitan, or anything too crazy) as long as it has a progression, or a good homebrew progression to level as.

I'm debating between wight and ghoul, since they have similar level loss, but is there any other undead templates available that would compliment a psychic warrior well?

Thanks.

The ghost savage progression (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20040117a)? Since none of the five levels gives you a HD, they count as LA, which you can buy off immediately (assuming you're above level 3, anyway). Then take the next level to buy off, and then the next level, and...

This works because you only ever have 1 LA at a time.

Just make sure you have access to the malevolence ability, so you can possess bodies to use as your own, since psywars focus primarily on enhancing their bodies through their psionic powers. If your body dies? Find another one! And if YOU die? Well, you come back in a few days.

I am having terrible visions of a shadow (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/shadow.htm) using strength of my enemy (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/strengthofMyEnemy.htm).

Can he become an undead with LA: --?

A good question only he can answer.

I'm thinking ghost with a few levels in Ephemeral Exemplar (or an application or two of Evolved Undead)--with LA bought off and Practiced Manifester of course--might still be better though. It's too bad PsyWar is Wis-centric, because ghosts get Cha to AC and there's a feat somewhere that gives undead-types Cha to HP.

I always liked sword wraiths myself.

My cha isn't half bad, though not the best.

I haven't thought of going the spectral route. Interesting.

Is there any corporeal types that would be fitting.

Also is there a ghost progression in the LM? I didn't notice it, but I'm AFB currently.

What Undead type would compliment a psychic warrior?

Presumably one that finds him/her attractive.

Mummified Creature (Libris Mortis p110). LA+4 but sweet sweet stat upgrade for PsyWars (+8Str and +4Wis, +10Natural Armor). if you just have to need to get some kind of progression, try to swing getting allowed to gain 4 negative levels which you pay off instead of leveling
