Nothing really that surprising in the stats but still one of my personal favorite monsters from Dungeons and Dragons.

99% sure that bit about halfling meat has been in it since MM1, but I don't have my books handy.

Okay, that made me chuckle a bit. :)

FYI: At 5th level the Bulette can take an impressive 27 standard skeleton units (SSU) of damage. This drops to 24 SSU when created by a 10th-level Necromancer.

:smallwink:

Please don't take this post seriously!

Also with split movement, these guys look like TPK factories.

Wow, that sucker can jump! You could stand on a roof and it would still be able to get you.

I guess I need to go watch Tremors now.

Atlest I have an excuse now, if I have two bulette's attacking the party to break out the book of erotic fantasy.

With the way a Bulette is described at attacking doesn't it basically always start with a Deadly landing and first attack? Seems deadly.

Two bullettes...erotic fantasy...what?

On the one hand you have my curiosity on the other I'm not sure I'd want to know why those two are connected.

Question for anyone who has the PHB: How exactly do the Burrow rules work?

By default movement can occur before and after an Action, the Bonus Action, and between attacks. So it seems like the Bulette and any other creature with Burrow could come up from the ground, attack, then go back into the ground, and can't be targeted by anyone that doesn't Ready an Action? Is that correct? Or does Burrow leave a tunnel?

(FYI, you could also do this in 3.5. But it required flight, the Flyby Attack Feat, and Etherealness, and not just a default and not terribly uncommon Burrow ability).

read the fluff not just the crunch!

The fluff doesn't have any BoEF-related content at all, unless you find the fact that, 'yes, animals mate' to be erotic.

If anything, two bulettes are less likely to be a tpk than one because they're likely to go for each other instead of the party.

I have read the fluff. Twice now just to be sure I didn't miss anything. I saw nothing erotic at all.

Unless you are referring their mating process in which case I am deeply disturbed by what you find erotic.

Hilarious fact:

Once upon a time, I managed to convince a GM to let me have a bulette as a Paladin Mount. With the Celestial Template, just to make sure it was good aligned. I got a special magic item to go with it so I could keep riding it when it burrowed.

Fun times. I had to feed it lots of orcs and goblins and so on. (The Celestial version found evil tastier then good.)

Great plot hook. A bulette is eating farmers, and the low-level party needs to find a way to attract another bulette (either gender) to the territory so they will fight each other.
