So we have a chassis build (lets ignore multiclass for right now), that is very mobile, very sturdy , but lacks in out putting damage. The monk focuses mostly on unarmed attacks and "monk" weapons, so we can't do the usual, dwarf that gives us armor and weapons trick, but the other version gives a +1 wis and a little extra health.

Humans could be useful, for the feat, make our monk even more deadly to casters or combat.

Elves dex is nice, but once again the weapon choice isn't something we can heavily benefit from besides the bows. Wood Elf, gets dex + wis, faster movement speed, and another bonus to hiding, allowing to make a check with increased options in natural conditions.

So depending what or where you want to go, Wood Elf or a Human seems to be the best options.

Now, for backgrounds, oddly enough Criminal may be the best background of all of them. Gaining access to skill proficients in things you will heavily need, and tool proficients under the thieves tools to take advantage of all that mobility you have and defenses to take out threats, and gather supplies for future killing targets.

So Now so far, we have the Monk Chassis, shadow stepping, high defense, mobile control fighter. Selecting a wood elf, grants you good stat spread, Access to Bows, Faster Move Speed, More conditions to trigger hide checks, and then round it off with a background that grants you access to taking apart traps and doors, and skill set that falls neatly in line with the builds choice of stealth.

Anything here you folks think, without multiclassing, I messed up on ?
