I may be playing a 5e campaign with some newbies (from never played to never played properly) and will be assisting the DM a lot but not DMing myself. I'm a hardened 3e player and because I'm the most experienced by far have started a discussion about if I should just teach them 3e.
As for hardwear, one of the players has a 5e starter kit complete with the three vital books. We don't have any 3e books (but that may change). PDFs, and a couple reference sites are what will be used most likely.
What do you all think; should I learn 5e (something I'm starting to research today) and teach that, at risk of a bit of confusion on my side. Should we just go with 3e instead?
And the big question I'm looking to an answer, how does 3e compair to 5e? What are the major differences, advantages, and disadvantages? What are some good sources to research with? I'm finding it easy to find comparison between adjacent editions but a generation gap is a bit awkward, as I know little 4.0 (and don't like it from what I know).
