...spell that does this? What and where?

Raise ghost, from Ghostwalk. However, the creature knows it is being brought back as a ghost, and can refuse, as with raise dead.

Raise ghost, from Ghostwalk. However, the creature knows it is being brought back as a ghost, and can refuse, as with raise dead.Unfortunately, those aren't ghosts. Those are outsiders, and not actual ghosts. The real ghosts are in the SRD.

Thanks, though.

Anyone have something for real ghosts?

Also, raise ghost is for bringing back something that was already a ghost and then killed... again.

Ghostwalk is weird.

OT: The Pathfinder Witch has a Grand Hex (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/witch/hexes/grand-hexes/hex-grand-summon-spirit-sp) that lets you call a 18 HD Ghost of your choosing to serve you, though you have to pay it.

Gate? Or a functional remake via Custom Spell Rules and Spellcraft.

Basically, I plan on playing an epic level (lvl 100) ghost character, and I want to use the standard undead boosters, such as Corpse Crafter and whatnot. Bonus points if it's a Necromancy spell usable by a dread necromancer or an Enhanced Undead variant specialist necromancer wizard.

Check out the spell called 'Ghost Storm' at the link below.

Unfortunately, once the 1 Round/Level duration ends, so do the spirits.

High Epic? Why not just use Miracle? Or hell, Epic Magic?

High Epic? Why not just use Miracle? Or hell, Epic Magic?Because a Necromancy spell would give me bonuses from being raised by either a dread necromancer or a specialist variant necromancer.

Gotta take any benefit I can, especially if it's practically free.

Epic Magic can be Necromancy. It's not really a comfortable road to go down, but if it's on the table, it WILL do what you want it to do.

I don't know of any existing spells that make ghosts, though. Maybe a carefully-worded (Greater) Bestow Curse?

There's a spell in Dragon #300 that lets you enslave someone's ghost an raise the corpse as an undead creature.

Mastery of the Dead, feat from Players guide to Eberron.
Lets you control the ghost of those you kill with [Death] spells.
Only lasts for 1 round per caster level, though.

Only lasts for 1 round per caster level, though.Oh, that's perfect. The feat doesn't say that the ghost ceases to exist, only that it remains present for that amount of time.

So any necromancy spell the [Death] descriptor will create a ghost, and it's not out of line to assume that the ghost stays...well, alive, for want of a better term, well beyond those few rounds. It can just leave after the time is up.

Oh, that's perfect. The feat doesn't say that the ghost ceases to exist, only that it remains present for that amount of time.

Huh, I just assumed that the soul past on*, what with there being no mention of hindering resurrections after the duration.
I found it while I was looking for a way to make past lives that you could interact with for a Jade Phoenix Mage. Maybe I should give that another go.

*Or should I say "gave up the ghost"?

Oh, it doesn't have to be necromancy, any (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/powerWordKill.htm) [Death] will (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/crisisofLife.htm) do (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/recallDeath.htm).
