I posted this in the RAW thread but the more I think about it the more wonky it is. So I figured I would start its own thread.

A wand has a cost of spell level x caster level x 750

Let's try to make a wand of caltrops

Well say that the crafter has arcane thesis caltrops.

He's going to make a wand of Sculpted(+1) invisible(+0), fell drain (+2), extended (+1) caltrops

After we apply thesis were looking at a total of a +1 modifier. So our spell level is 1 our caster level is 1 .

So this nasty wand only costs 750 gp?

Am I missing some crucial step somewhere or something?

Nope. That's why Arcane Thesis is broken as hell.

After Arcane Thesis, that is actually a +0 modifier.

Yeah youre right. Trying to price it as an eternal wand.
I think the formula is the same as for wondrous item

Spell level x caster level x 1800 (for command activated) x 2/5 (uses per day) +100 (for the crystal in the wand)

So to make an eternal wand of this at caster level 2 (for a better duration) would be

.5 x 2 x 1800 x (2/5) + 100 = 820

Any way to make the caltrops cold iron or able to bypass DR in some other way......?
