So I've been wondering for some time, after going through Book 5 a few times I've failed to identify the character who donated $5000 to the kickstarter. I was unable to find a thread that pointed them out, do we even know who s/he is?

I don't think that they have appeared yet; I would expect it to have been pointed out. There has been some speculation as to when they would show up, so it seems like most people think that as well.
