Mass Cure X Wounds

I'm embarrassed that this is a question, but when rolling the heal amount for the Mass variants of the Cure spells, do you roll one dice total or one dice per target being healed? The wording leans towards the former, but one of the players new to our gaming table swears up and down its the latter.

Unless I've missed it somewhere I don't think D&D 3.5/Pathfinder specifically states that any area spell has rolls for individuals or just one for all. Generally you'd expect the latter to save time.

Unless it's saving throws (you know, different boni) we always roll once per spell effect.
