loopback webcomic ADs: how dose that even work?

while I surf around a lot of webcomic sites, I noticed that some of those are advertising each other.
look at this! (http://www.tovecomic.com/images/bsleader.jpg) they are not even connected to view counter! The writer of webcomic just uploaded a fixed hyperlink image advertise of other webcomic on his server!
I can't understand this at all.... is there something I missed?

I've seen a lot of comics that link to other ones, so it's not really that unusual. Usually, they're just sharing what they like to read, and want to introduce their readers to things they might also enjoy.

Turns out that the type of people who write webcomics are also the type of people who read webcomics, and enjoy sharing things with others. Who knew?
