Focused Specialist/Red Wizard/Incantatrix

lo and behold - five prohibited schools! :smallamused: (Four, if Diviner)

So:
1) How low is such build by Tier?
2) Will you ever play such character?
3) Assuming answer is "yes", what will be the exact build? Which school(s) you will choose?

You've got Abjuration, Conjuration, Transmutation, and Universal spells still, as long as you were wise in your choices of forbidden schools. Between the last three, that's almost everything you need to be T1, particularly since Planar Binding can be used to gain access to spells you're forbidden from casting: you bind an Outsider with it as a spell-like ability. Heck, if you can pull it off, Binding a Formian Queen can get you a fully-capable Sorceress. Make a simulacrum of her and polymorph her into something mobile. Repeat until you have sorceresses with all the spells you feel you need that you cannot, yourself, cast.

You can be tier 1 with conjuration alone, so it's not all that crippling unless your allowed schools are Abjuration (can't ban because Incantatrix), Divination (can't ban) and Enchantment.
Every other school can deal, though some are better at it than others.

That answers your third question as well i think. Specialize in Divination, ban Necromancy, Enchantment, Evocation and Illusion. Still T1, and a very strong T1 at that.
I personally wouldn't play such a character though because i like my versatility too much. Incantatrix with its one banned school is as far as i will go. I don't even play normal specialist wizards.

Give me only Universal and Illusion and I'll give you a Shadowcraft Mage.
Seriously, 3 levels in that class and I can play a character with only one spell on their list. Ever.
As long as it is Silent Image of course.

Can't be a Red Wizard and a Shadowcraft mage, though. The former is human-only and the latter is for gnomes.

Three levels of Stoneblessed can have you count as both, and if you have nothing but full casting otherwise, you can still have 9th level spells!

i produced a thread last week where we banned every school except divination. with no real cheese to do it as just an exercise.

i would play the character we made. it would have been a bit borken, but still fun.

Firstly, you can't ban abjuration this way:
At 1st level, the incantatrix gives up a school of magic so as to focus more on the remaining schools. She must choose a school of magic other than abjuration or divination as a prohibited school.
Also, Red Wizard and Incantatrix are both from Faerūn. Wizard of High Sorcery will be kinda out of place...

I'm playing a wizard who can only cast Conjuration spells as a houseruled limitation. I don't find it to be overly limiting at 6th level.

well ...

in players guide to faerun
Focused Studies (Ex): At 1st level, the incantatrix gives up a school of magic so as to focus more on the remaining schools. She must choose a school of magic other than abjuration or divination as a prohibited school. This prohibited school is in addition to any others already chosen due to school specialization. Thus, a specialized wizard taking this prestige class has three prohibited schools instead of two.

so you don't actually have to become a specialist.

and in the other version its in effect becomes a specialist and gets the normal benefits. not actually getting a specialisation.
and this is not meant to be an exercise to create a fluffy character. just a RAW way of getting as many banned as possible.

plus i mostly hate the D&D fluff and nearly every group i know use our own settings.
