It's another drizzly night in Rook's Bay, and the masses huddle for shelter amongst ramshackle homes and leaky lean-tos.

Amongst the slums, one home stands proud. A three story cottage, it's the home of Sadi Ogo, a well respected jeweler and merchant.

Of course, anyone who knows anything about Rook's Bay's underworld knows that Boss Ogo is the foremost fence for miles around, with a list of contacts longer than most people's family tree.

Or at least, he was. No-one's seen him in months, bar a few jumbled sightings by the local winos. He has debts piling up, contracts expiring, and some very unsavoury characters nosing around trying to find him.

Enter our band of unsavoury characters, scoping out Boss Ogo's place to see if they can scrounge up some leads on his whereabouts.

What are you guys up to? Throw out some background, motivation s, and a little IC banter to see how you know each other.

Rult pull his hood tight over his face. The rain could be annoying sometime, it was almost perpetually wet and overcast here along the coast, but he was glad to have it tonight. It gave him an excuse to cover up. Rult was a pretty big guy, and already stood out when walking along the street; wearing a big dark cloak in the middle of the day made him even more conspicuous. It was why he didn't get out much. He'd been hunkering down in a seedy inn till recently, trying to figure out what to do next, whether to move on to the next town or to lay low for a while longer.

He would be spending tonight there, in fact, if Fate hadn't come knocking on his door.

Quite literally.

Wonder what's so important about some merchant?.

Rult growled under his breath. That odd fellow had said he'd "reward" Rult if he could figure out where some merchant went. It was just another odd job, and that was the line of business Rult had found himself in. He didn't get the employers name, and he didn't need it; Rult didn't hand out his name either. The less they knew about each other, the fewer problems Rult could run into, and that the way that Rult liked it.

Rult looked around. A house that big had to have multiple entrances. He had no compunctions about breaking and entering, he'd been hired for his muscles, not his manners. Still, he didn't want to use the front door. It would cause too much of a scene, and besides, this wasn't some two-bit shopkeeper. The jeweler might have some security measures in the front, and there was no need to risk it.

I misunderstood and thought I was part of the game rather than being in the replacement Que. I apologize.

Dazer had been quite confident in her assessment of the situation surrounding Boss Ogo's house, during her minglings along the streets of Rook's Bay. Enough time had passed that most people would have gone over the place already, or else decided not to bother after all, and if she was going to find the warlock, she was going to have to search for whatever he might have wanted from the absent fence. All in all, it seemed like that night would be the perfect one to nose around, see if she couldn't pick up anything the thieves and bashers had missed. It was a sure bet that she would, most of the time...but then, she didn't have to worry so much if she did get caught. A few nice words could get her out of it.

But the woman couldn't help releasing a sigh as she turned the corner to the big boss' house itself and found no less than two others lingering around the front door like jackals. Most people had passed it by, but she just happened to stumble upon the place at the same time as two other people with ill morals and likely poorer intentions. She half expected a halfling to jump out of the floorboards and join them.

Rather than interrupt the conversation between the pair of ne'er-do-wells on that romantic rain-slick night, Dazer decided to go about her plan of scouting about the house unimpeded. One of them was sure to start up a conversation if they wanted to get in her way regardless. So she advanced towards the house, her duster gliding beneath each soft footstep, and the woman with a fairly imposing presence started to wander around the home with a pair of keen blue eyes.

Several houses away, Glade scowled from beneath the safety of her hood. Ogo's house was quite popular today. Perhaps they would...well, one was striding rather purposefully towards the house. Nevermind. There was always a back door. Or window. It didn't really matter either way. Ducking through an alleyway and then on past several rundown hovels led her to the the target's conspicuous house.

There was the matter, of course, of the other interested parties and who knows how many others if and when they got inside. She sincerely doubted Ogo was still there--alive, at any rate--so for the moment it didn't matter too much. Multiple heads were better than one. Or however that went. That didn't so much apply to rewards, though.

No one was really paying attention to another dirty stranger gawping at the missing merchant's house. Perfect. Time to make a door.

A lone figure grumbled to herself as she sat in the cobweb-infested crawlspace under her target's house. Working for the Black Knives always led to seriously dirty work thanks to her background. Didn't mean she had to enjoy trudging out in rain and mud and squeezing herself in this space, that was small for even her modest stature. She felt the floorboards rubbing against the back of her head as she studied her orders again, having just a big, lit splinter as her light source for the moment.

"Really gonna need to have a talk with Mr. Black after this gig. This is getting ridiculous." She continued to grumble to herself as she snuffed the light source. "I've helped build and design houses, and yet they keep sending me into crawlspaces for their jobs! Friggin' waste of talent if you ask me..."

As the incessant rain dripped from the wide brim of her hat - a blessing for small mercies, she supposed, that she had a little protection - Miciah fingered the pistol holstered at her waist as she grumbled to herself how much she hated this city, hated the rain, and right now really hated this Sadi Odo and his whole godforsaken buisness.

She'd pulled into Rook's Bay as an escort for some trader, and ever since passing the limit's she'd hated it - the dismal huts, the unwashed masses staring at her, and the never-ending rain. She'd intended to leave the slums as soon as possible, but fate dealt a different hand; As she slept on the flea-bitten mattress in the over-priced inn, some brigand had slipped into her room and helped themselves to almost everything the girl owned. Rather than do the sensible thing and just leave the hellhole, cut her losses and find a new job, her usual headstrong pride had kept her here; it wasn't even important what had been taken, what mattered was it was hers. It'd taken much longer than she'd hoped, but at last she tracked the thief down, only to find he'd sold of everything to this fence...

Who, following the trend, had then up and vanished.

She'd wallowed in her cups for a night - blowing more than was sensible of what little remained of her savings - before finding where Odo lived. Who knows, there might be a clue or something in what mess he had left.

As Miciah goth near, she noticed she wasn't the only one skulking around the place - besides the usual urchins and thieves she'd grown to expect lurking at every corner, there where a few people who stood out more; a large man under a heavy black cloak, an a woman nearly as tall in a leather overcoat she'd seen around town once or twice - not the same cut as most of the residents of Rooks bay if she was any judge.

"Looks like even now, Mr Odo is a popular may" she said to herself with a slight smirk, before raising her voice to make sure others could hear her "Looks like we all had the same idea. Since we're all looking for Odo, how about we help each other out for a spell?"
