Ok so to make a continuous item of a level one spell I take 1 x 1 (Character level needed) x 2000 = 2000 GP for an item of continuous use first level spell?

Is this right?

You also apply a modifier to the cost based on the spell's duration. If the spell has one of the other effects on the table, such as providing a bonus to AC or an ability score, you should probably use that price instead. And of course all custom items require DM approval and the pricing formulas are only guidelines, so ask your DM.

They are very rough guidelines. In fact, the Magic Item Compendium pretty much states that you should completely ignore the "rules" and should instead compare the item to already priced items that have a similar function (or interpolate if no such item exists) to arrive at a proper price. The guideline in this case is: if it's not the best item you can buy for that money, and it's not the absolute worst item you can buy for that money, you're within the right range.

The "item creation cost rules" are supremely broken (they tend to go from ridiculously expensive to game-breakingly cheap). Also, continuous items don't always work the way you think they do, so it may be worth telling us which spell you had in mind.

And remember, a continuous item of truestrike will only give a benefit to your single next attack, it just extends the time the spell will last before you make the attack.

Instantaneous spells cannot be made into continuous items.

What you want is the command-activated version, which would be 1x1x1800 = 1800 gp market value. It takes a standard action to speak the command word (or perform the command action) to trigger it, and you can do it once per standard action you have if you like.
