View Full Version : 3.5/PF Sniper Options

One of the archetypes I really enjoy playing is the Sniper. Sitting back, waiting for the moment to strike, then firing a single shot for massive damage...However, no matter how far I look, I can't seem to find any good way to do this in 3.5. So...Can the Playground help me find a decent way to do it? I know it'll never be optimal, but I want it to be viable.

Well, since you mentioned PF, Clustered Shots (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/clustered-shots-combat) could easily be fluffed as this, and would work fairly well.

Sniper archetype for the Marksman is pretty solid.

Who ever told you that there was no good ways to do it in 3.5? Sure you can't straight class it and to really be decent requires the use of tricks that many don't really like but it is more than possible.

What kind of range do you want to be able to snipe from? What kind of damage do you want to deal? What level do you want to be? What level do you want to start being decent as a Sniper at?

My roommates, who, to be fair, have been wrong on many things before. So...What does the High Lord of Optimization suggest for someone who wants to snipe from middling range (60-120 feet or so), and play the DPS of the group? Also note that this is not a TO question. I'd like something that won't get my head stove in by my GM with the Tome of Battle.
