Do we have any idea yet how our characters will be able to identify monsters like we used to be able to with Knowledge skills? Or do we know if that'll be available in the DMG?

The rules for that aren't out yet, but it should work the same way it has in past editions, more or less.

Religion check=undead
Arcana check=dragons
Nature check=beasts

etc.

The trick is setting DCs. I think the 12-15 range makes sense for most "slightly uncommon" threats like stirges or chimeras or whatnot, with a 17-20 for information about a specific Lich/Dragon/Vampire/whatever.

Thanks. I figured best to make sure. I'm homebrewing a 5e Archivist, and this sort of thing's important to one of the archetypes.
