is there a spell tool out there?

right now checking the phb for spells is kind of a drag, is there a tool or website to check which spells apply to your class and what those spells do?

ive started generating text files with spells, for example, lvl1paladin spells.txt, but maybe someone has done better work already

Anything with "full" descriptions is likely to be near the edge of legal. You could just wait for dungeonscape (http://www.dnddungeonscape.com/) to release.
