What are these stones that float around the psions head all over the D&D official art?

And why they always have tattoos?

Ioun stones, psicrystals, physical manifestation of power points, take your pick.

Also, psionic tattoos.

You forgot psychokinetic characters who like to show off in that list.

It looks to me like that's two drawings of the same character there, with the big difference being one has a snazzy cloak.

Yep he is the iconic Psion (I don't remember his name) and the one with the cloak is the Epic Psion iconic IIRC.

Even though they call him "illumisomthing" in the books, I will always know him as Psteve. That said, those could be ioun stones.

Ialdabode is his name, I believe.

The floating stone are probably Ioun Stones. While their technically magical items, not psionic, their status as crystals fits right in with most of psionics (note that his "wands" (called dorjes) are long crystals). Similarly, the tattoos are probably Psionic Tattoos. These are basically the psionic equivalent of potions, being one-shot items that can manifest a power (with the exceptions of crawling tattoos, which can move around and administer themselves, and tattoos connected to a capacitor. These two are not mutually exclusive categories).

Ioun stones do have the fun property that a charged Ioun stone that runs out of charges, while useless to a spellcaster, can still be used by a psionic character as a limited source of power points before it turns to dust.

Around head are Iounstones and Psionic Tattoos make sense too (as has been mentioned).

On a related note Pathfinder actually has Psicrystal Staves + Setting Stones and Companion Stones so you can make those superawesome staffs you always see in Pictures :smallwink:.

There is also a psionic-only ioun stone. The rainbow ioun stone can provide 5 power points per day like a cognizance crystal, but recharges every day (XPH, page 160).

I am hard-pressed to tell which of these two posts caused me more physical pain.

You can't be edgy and rebellious if you don't have something that everyone else doesn't care about, but you obsess over for some reason. That's why crystals were invented.

Can I sig this?Sure...I guess. Add in something to the effect of: "Psyren: Pimp as hell."

I'd have added in a pimpcrystal, too, but that wouldn't really make much sense, visually.

You should watch some of the other ones in the series. Tordek, Malcanthet, and Hennet are fantastic. And I have a special place in my heart for Warduke.
