Hey all,
I'm looking to create a dungeon that has attracted Kaorti to it, due to its strong arcane and planar connections.
The Kaorti are very cool and full of flavour, but I haven't found any (optimised) material that really takes advantage of their creepy alien factor. I'm using the Ubercyst series of Wizard articles for ideas, but those epic-level creatures are somewhat out of league for my level 13 party (OP as they are).
Does the Playground have any suggestions for some encounters that feature creepy mid-to-high level Kaorti arcane casters? In terms of ecology of their cyst, I imagine they would have rooms for breeding, information extraction, defense, study.... But I'm not really sure what else. When the PCs burst into these rooms as they flush out the Kaorti, who is going to respond, and how?
