Hey all,
Was thinking about something of a silly build based around spamming targeting ray and mass snake'a swiftness. If these two spells could be combined into one, what would the appropriate level be?
Could see it being useful and funny for the commander of a squad of archers aggressively pointing around "THERE!!!"

Combining two disparate spell effects into one spell that does both at once seems... questionable at best.

However, Targeting Ray is a first-level spell and Mass Snake's Swiftness is a 3rd-level spell. That means you could use one Arcane Fusion to cast Targeting Ray and MSS (with a +1 metamagic if you'd like) at the same time, assuming you're a sorcerer.

I wouldn't necessarily say they are that disparate, especially if the snakes swiftness is modified somewhat, perhaps only applying to ranged attacks and shortening the targeting ray to last only for your team's granted attack.
It basically just becomes a "Shoot THAT guy!" teamwork spell

With that modification it's probably ok as a lv4 spell. Consider that Arcane Fusion, despite being Sorcerer only, is a lv5 spell that allows you to do just that and more, so it seems rather unfair that a spell that is like that but much more limited to be f the same level.

Do you think increasing the casting time to one round would be fair to drop it to level 3? It loses a lot more action potential that way.

Probably not, although you might be ok with a bit of power up to the spell. Maybe instead of a 20ft burst you get a 25 or 30ft burst.
