In the city of Neverwinter, a dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker asked you to bring a wagon load of provisions to the rough-and-tumble settlement of Phandalin, a couple of days' travel southeast of the city. Gundren was clearly excited and more than a little secretive about his reasons for the trip, saying only that he and his brothers had found "something big," and that he'd pay you ten gold pieces each for escorting his supplies safely to Barthen's Provisions, a trading post in Phandalin. He then set out ahead of you on horse, along with a warrior escort named Sildar Haliwinter, claiming he needed to arrive early to "take care of business."

You've spent the last few days following the High Road south from Neverwinter, and you've just recently veered east along the Triboar Trail. You've encountered no trouble so far, but this territory can be dangerous. Bandits and outlaws have been known to lurk along the trail.

"Look alive, this stretch of road is known for causing trouble for travelers and caravans." Erdan warned. The group was probably getting annoyed with his constant obvious warnings, but that was how he learned. He learned his skills first through his training from the monks at the monastery, and then through his teacher at the guild. Both of them would repeat their instructions and advice constantly until the movements and techniques were memorized. Erdan did not mind what the others in the group thought-- just as long as the job gets done right. "This group looks like they can handle themselves in a tight situation. I probably should ease up a bit." Erdan had previously travelled with some guild members in a caravan and he faintly recalled seeing Ghorak among the caravan guards. He made a mental note to thank Ghorak later for the job well done.

Gharok

The huge mountain of a man that has introduced himself as Gharok with a thick mountain accent, instinctively looks around when Erdran calls for attention. Clad in simple, well worn clothes, his hair intricately braided with bronze and bone and having an axe the size of a small human in his hand, Gharok reflexively looks at the sky now and then, as if to wonder that it is so far. He does not mind the constant reminders of Erdran. He seems like a good man and Gharok knows that it is not with malice that the remarks are made. They were fellow guards after all. Erdran was a bit on the skinny side, but elves tend to be. Did he remember the other time Erdran and Gharok were together in a caravan? Perhaps not. Gharok should ask him, one of those days.

"Yes, looking around, yes. Still nothing I see, though. Haven't had a good fight for some time now. But it is probably for the best.

You, Erdran, friend. I was thinking, you remember we have met before? There was the other caravan, coming from the mountains. You did good job then. It was worthwhile, seeing you kick that bandit in the face. Remember now The ambush at the shallow pass. I did not know feet could get so high.

And yes, I am looking, do not worry."

Garret sat at the reigns and drove the cart. He was watching the road since they got on it. He knew that bandits would pop up at any time. He didn't mind his companions, the elf was bossy and the half-orc was dense and his constant 'yes'es were annoying, but it wasn't the worst group to be a part of. They seemed capable enough, and a good amount of power, with the sorcerer and cleric sitting in the back of the cart. There was another human, a dwarf and the aforementioned half-orc and elf.

"Observation is my strong point." Garret said to the others.

The human with the silver hair got up from his sleep in the wagon only to see that they were already on the trail "Wha... What... What happened? Where are we? Did I fall asleep again? Must have..." He sits up in the cart and looks around, unsure of where they are on the trail. He looks over to Travok, "Excuse me sir, but where are we? Also, weren't you the one that began to journey with me on the... cart..." He realizes that he must have fallen asleep on the cart ride to Phandalin. "Oh, I see, never mind then. Sorry to disturb you." He looks over to investigate what Travok is looking through.

In case you haven't realized Huan is in the middle of the wagon.

You've been on the Triboar Trail for about half a day. As you come around a bend, you spot two dead horses sprawled about fifty feet ahead of you, blocking the path. Each has several black-feathered arrows sticking out of it. The woods press close to the trail here, with a steep embankment and dense thickets on either side.

You all recognized the horses as belonging to Gundren Rockseeker and Sildar Hallwinter, the men who have employed you. You realize the horses were dead for about a day now, and it was clear that arrows had killed them.
As some of you examined the scene, you noticed that the saddlebags have been looted and that, nearby, laid an empty leather map case.

Moments after you approached the bodies, and your suspicions made you ready yourselves for an ambush, Garret noticed tracks, and he knew they were goblins' tracks. You hear movement all around you. You were already prepared to fight as you see goblins jumping from each side, ready to attack you!

That you were already inspecting and couldn't stealth to surprise attack you...so roll initiative =) Also, to make things easier for me, while in combat, please include current hp and total ac in every post. Thank you.

About 10 minutes after heading down the trail, you detect a hidden snare before you trigger it.

Another 10 minutes, you find a camouflaged pit. Classic traps. No problem.

After a while, you come across a large cave in a hillside, five miles from the scene of the ambush. A shallow stream flows out of the cave mouth, which is screened by dense briar thickets. A narrow dry path leads into the cave on the right-hand side of the stream.

Not sure if I'm aware of the goblins; if not, ignore this.

Travok calls divine fire down upon the goblin his allies had injured.

DC 14 Dex Save or take [roll0] damage. (If the first goblin's already dead/unconscious, I'll target the other one, naturally).

You silently take out the goblins and the coast is clear.

Huan stays in the middle, but he still motions for everyone to continue along into the cave.

Garret could tell the goblins were felled before he could react and relaxed. "How should we enter the cave? Together or in Small Groups?" He asked his companions.

"Always... Stick... Together" Huan says clearly and sternly.

Travok thinks for a moment, "Perhaps we should have those who scouted ahead before do so again. That seems to have worked out well."

Gharok

Gharok takes the time to see if there is anything worthwhile where the goblins were holding out. He then straightens and says.

"Scout ahead, yes. I can do this. Anyone coming along?"

Just inside the cave mouth, a few uneven stone steps lead up to a small, dank chamber on the east side of the passage.
The cave narrows to a steep fissure at the far end, and is filled with the stench of animals. Savage snarls and the sounds of rattling chains greet your ears where two wolves are chained up just inside the opening. Each wolf's chain leads to an iron rod driven into the base of a stalagmite.

Gharok

Gharok steps light and comes close. He whispers.

"Kill wolves. No way around them. Yes?"

@ Garret

A narrow opening in the east wall leads to a natural chimney. At the base of the fissure is rubbish that's been discarded through the opening above.
You also realize three wolves are confined here. They can't reach targets standing on the steps.
