Duskblade is kind of hard to mess up, and with those stats, you'll be good at anything you want to do.

Do you have anything in particular in mind beyond just standard Duskblade?

No, i don't have any plans past standard duskblade, i just want help because i have screwed up three other characters before due to just plain stupid construction (i jacked up an illusionist, abjurer, and a warblade). I am asking for help because i don't want to repeat past events. Any and all advice would be appreciated, even if its just feats and skill point allocation, i would very much enjoy and appreciate it.

There's a pretty good Duskblade Handbook (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=525.0) that should be able to answer all your questions. With those stats, I'd probably go Str 18, Dex 17, Con 18, Int 18, Wis 14, Cha 14, and put your 4th level point on Dex and everything else on Str. Start out with a Masterwork Tool (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/goodsAndServices.htm#toolMasterwork) and without any Craft: Armorsmithing ranks you could have made your own Mithral Breastplate by taking ten on the checks, it's only a DC 15 and it automatically counts as masterwork when completed, so you'll only have to pay 1,400 gp for it instead of 4,200 gp. Get it made +1 and put a decent armor crystal (MIC) on it.

You can make dive attacks with any piercing weapon, so get something that you can use two-handed, preferably with reach such as a Ranseur. If you end your turn after a dive attack flying above your opponent at the length of your reach with a reach weapon, they won't be able to attack you on their turn unless they also have reach. Keep in mind that your maneuverability has a minimum forward speed at average maneuverability, but you can get the feat Improved Flight in RotW to improve this. You won't qualify that feat until you're 5th level though, so you would need to gain a feat at 5th level to be able to begin play with it. I would recommend working with your DM to take a flaw (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/buildingCharacters/characterFlaws.htm) (more here) at 5th level, it should be fine as long as the flaw is taken during character creation.

You can take Ancestral Relic (BoED) and make it a custom Runestaff (MIC p224) to have a nearly limitless number of spells known. It would need to be a staff of some kind, but you could make it a Quarterstaff or even an Elvencraft (RotW) Composite Longbow or Footbow. Put the Morphing weapon property on one end of that and it can turn into another type of weapon when you need to (dive) attack with it. With an Ancestral Relic, when the party would sell junk loot for half value you can buy it from the party pool for that price, and even get a portion of that back when the cash is split up. The loot's full value can be sacrificed into your relic to upgrade it, so it costs less than half price to improve it.
