so is a spellbook in this edition worth 50g always? or is it worth 50g + (50g * level of spells inside) <---- because of the copying fees.

or another answer? lol

You don't need to pay quite as much for a replacement spellbook as copying your original

Replacing the Book. You can copy a spell from your own spellbook into another book—for example, if you want to make a backup copy of your spellbook. This is just like copying a new spell into your spellbook, but faster and easier, since you understand your own notation and already know how to cast the spell. You need spend only 1 hour and 10 gp for each level of the copied spell.
If you lose your spellbook, you can use the same procedure to transcribe the spells that you have prepared into a new spellbook. Filling out the remainder of your spellbook requires you to find new spells to do so, as normal. For this reason, many wizards keep backup spellbooks in a safe place.

So it's 50 gp + 10 gp (per spell level) per spell and an hour per spell.

Oh, that would depend on the spells inscribed in it, yes.

Since there is, to my knowledge, no rule for buying or selling spellbooks with spells in them, and the price of copying a spell is literally just the price of copying it and not researching it, I believe partially or completely filled spellbooks are priced as magic items.

Which is to say that there is no set price, and it's worth whatever you can get the other guy to pay for it/sell it for. Remember that, after buying the spellbook, you STILL have to pay 50gp * spell level per spell to learn and transcribe it. Based on the description, and in the absence of rules that contradict the description, you cannot actually cast spells out of another caster's book; you must first copy them into one of your own.

Actually, it costs more to copy a spell from a source that isn't your own because you have to spend time deciphering the authors writing and such (each wizard apparently has their own unique way of notating their spells and such).

It takes 2 hours and 50gp per spell level to copy spells from another book or source. The 50 gp in that cost does in fact represent research gone into copying the spell and learning how to cast it yourself.
