Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

This week we are covering the comic strips 571 through 580.

For full details about the Stick Awards, please check out the main thread here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283609).

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34791)

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the ten listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting for this week will close on September 25th, 4pm EDT. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

Last week, :belkar: 568 A Sign That You Have a Problem (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0568.html) found out that actions do have consequences. One of those consequences was the start of a pretty spectacular light show. The other? A trip to the Best of the Hundred tournament, of course.

As for the next batch of contestants, they too look like them might be facing the horns of various dilemmas. Will they try to go it alone to forge their destinies? Will they blaze new trails for their philosophical viewpoints? Or will they just get on each others nerves and continue to muddle along, from one plot point to the next?

Well, prior results might point to one direction, the only way we will all know for sure is by voting for the best strip of the following in.....

The Oracle and Roy's reaction are just priceless in #571.

578. Haley slides out of the castle on a bag of money greased by a pool of Belkar's black vomit. How about that.

I don't normally vote in these, but I've always really enjoyed Belkar's delusional ramblings in 578.

Man, what a great group of strips. This is where I really started enjoying Book 4. 578: A Slice Getaway is hilarious and exciting and I probably enjoyed it the most, but they're all pretty great.

I'm probably not enough a slapstick fan to endorse 578, but I do love prepared people. :roy: gets dismissed, 572 gets my vote.

571.
Because sometimes it's cool to be an oracle.

I'm going with 571. No point in being an Oracle if you can't be prepared for things.

Not a fan of most of these strips. Celia is pretty annoying, the Thieves Guild and Grubwiggler are hardly inspiring villains, Belkar's gone from being incredibly annoying and despicable to incredibly annoying, despicable and gross. The Oracle is always a highlight though.

Belkar's lines in 578 win it for me.

I never noticed the "I'll miss you most of all scarecrows" line before

I'll go ahead and grant a one-day extension and close up this voting period at 4pm EDT today.

Well, looks like we have a tie vote on our hands. You know, ordinarily I'd vote for one of the Oracle strips. I mean, he's only one of my favorite characters. But you know what? 578 is just hilarious enough to pip it. Barely. I know I know. Shameful. But, really,

:belkar:: Now I'm a unicorn!

Just slays me. Plus everything else going on in the strip. It's got a lot of heft to it, underneath the surface.

If any of my fellow Oracle fans want to complain, well, that's what you get for splitting your votes. :smalltongue:

If it had been down to 572 v 578, I might have voted differently.

And with that....

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!

:haley: 578 - A Slick Getaway (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0578.html) is the winner this week. It now moves on to the Best of the Hundred tournament.
