Flurry of Blows

What is the point of Flurry of Blows? You can only take one bonus action per-turn and Martial Arts already gives you a bonus unarmed strike after you attack with an unarmed strike or a monk weapon. I guess you could waste a Ki point on a bonus attack if you are attacking with a non proficient weapon but it still sounds a little redundant.

Flurry gives you two unarmed attacks instead of just one, plus if you're an Open Hand monk you can use your flurry attacks to do special stuff (knock targets down, etc.).

Oh okay that makes sense, it's still only one extra attack then for the price of a Ki point but three attacks would be better then two.

Yeah Flurry really isn't worth much unless you need to burst someone down ASAP, or you're an Open Hand monk. If you ARE Open Hand though it is kind of incredible. Especially nasty is using it's ability to knock down an opponent with grabbing, something you normally could only do over two rounds of combat done in one (or even half of one if you have the Tavern Brawler feat).

Doing more damage is always a good use for a consumable resource, even if it's not always the most efficient.
