Yes indeed! It's an interesting comic... I like that the author seems to have their own art style, not being too derivative of manga.

Gunnerkrigg Court is one of a few webcomics that I found recently through Dresden Codak (http://www.dresdencodak.com), and I have to say that it's one of my favorites already. Really good art, characters, and story. Also I'm a sucker for magic boarding schools.

I absolutely love it. It's the most unique look at a boarding school I've ever seen, and I love how completely unflappable Annie is. She could meet the four horsemen of the Apocalypse and she'd politely ask them if they knew the time because she'd forgotten her watch :D

Great character, great series.

It started off kinda shaky, and at first seemed like it was going to turn into just a Mary Sue type comic (Annie bugged me in this way at first, what with her unflappable-ness), but it turned into something really fantastic and first class. One of my favorites, though for different reasons than I read most webcomics. I give it an A.

I love posts like this. Because even if you haven't read a comic (I hadn't read Gunnerkrigg Court before, nor even heard of it), then you're introduced to a new one. And anytime someone is willing to plug a comic that isn't theres, that's a good sign.

THANKS MUCH!

Soo awesome, its comprises a vital part of my personal list of webcomics. I found it through Neil Gaimans Blog (apparently hes a fan) always good to know the gods of fantasy take an interest in mortal affairs.

This story arc is very interesting. At last, it seems, some of the mysteries behind GC and GW are being explained. Even though quite indirectly.

Coyote is awesome, in the old meaning of the word. Cool, frightening, borderline creepy.

It's pretty bizarre, but in a cool way. The art's definitely amazing in an original hyper-stylized way without being too derivative, with a neat mix of bright colors splashed against contrasting darks. I haven't gotten too far into it yet, but this has grabbed my attention pretty strongly and my hopes are high for the rest of the archives.

On my LCD, her hair appear more to be copperish-brownish red. But once I looked at the webcomic on another computer, which has an old CRT display (with overbright gamma because it's become naturally too dark with time), and her hair was hot pink!

I think it's very unique, which is a huge plus when it comes to online comics. (Paper comics, I could read the same Superman punches things even harder plots over and over. Heh. ^_^)

The art is unique, a lot of the concepts are pretty cool. The plots can be a bit dull, and I find Antimony to be too perfect to be interesting, but overall, I enjoy it.

Sugar, Spice, and everything with a barely pronouncable name. But then, CHEMICAL X*. And thus, a winning webcomic was born!

* By "Chemical X", I mean "lovable and interesting noncritical characters. See: Zimmy, Mort, Robot, Shadow2, Coyote, Reynardine(maybe more important), Zimmy, 6-yr-old Antimony, Zimmy, and did I mention Zimmy? And the suicide fairies.

Most likely it's another Spirit Guide, like Mathilda and Dhoo.

However, instead of taking the direct route and coming into a disagreement over the boy's spirit and who'll guide it, the lizard presented itself as something interesting to the boy and would get relaxed with.

When the boy gets comfortable enough, the lizard would reveal itself and offer to lead the boy out of the hospital.

Antimony, after talking to the lizard, would agree that the boy should do what he wants - go with the lizard and leave Mathilda and Dhoo to snipe at one another.

I'm pretty sure it's meant to be Gunner's Crag (as in a big rock), as hinted by the Suicide Fairies here (http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=139). I'm not sure, but I think that would make the name either Welsh or German.

Or, the fairies could just be ditzy morons, since I can't back this up with a dictionary.

In which German words is the C, outside of loanwords or the ch, sch and ck combinations, used?

*is German, you know*

... And Krag is, no matter if you spell it with a C or a K, no German word.

@v: Ahh. Yeah, I forgot them, since they're combinations I see them as their own letters. Kind of stupid like that, but it's a habit of native speakers to not care that much about the rules and just do it naturally.

Say, how long do you learn German? (the 'falsche' makes me assume you're not a native-speaker).

Nice catch Gez.

The symbolism in this chapter is really clever.

If the fire killed his whole family, it makes sense that he'd be afraid to see his mom and dad again. That's why Moddey and the crone can't talk him into "passing through the veil".

At the moment I'm wondering why the fire did kill his entire family, if the alarm went off properly. Did they go in after him? Or had someone doused the carpets with gasoline? Or were they really heavy sleepers?

Continuing the new title showcase by Archaia Studios Press (ASP) where we get sneak peeks of new titles for 2008. We offer you a glimpse of a few finished pages and a few character sketches.

This time, Gunnerkrigg Court: Orientation, coming in April.

As ASP describes it:

Orientation is the first in a series of books about Antimony Carver, a girl who attends school at gloomy Gunnerkrigg Court. The story is about the people she meets, the strange things that happen, and the things she causes to happen as she and her new friend, Kat, unravel the mysteries of the Court and deal with the everyday adventures of growing up at a school that has robots running around alongside body-snatching demons, forest gods, and the odd mythical creature.

Tom Siddell’s popular all-ages web comic is here, collected in print for the first time in a 296-page hardcover collection.

Be on the lookout for a first-chapter preview of Gunnerkrigg Court: Orientation in a few weeks.

It appears every time she encounters something supernatural. I wonder if it's just on the merit that it was because it was a ghost that cut her or if the ghost's identity (the unrequited love of the nerdy robot-maker) has something to do with it.

No (http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/comics/00000481.jpg).

But the URL appears malformed in the source (// instead of / between the domain name and the path), it may explains it?

So, on reading today's page (http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=489), it took me a little while to decipher Antimony's expression in panel 4. I had some trouble deciding whether she was sad, weirded out, or both at once. I eventually settled on just sad, because I figured that it'd be out of character for Annie to be weirded out by anything as mundane as some kind of possibly divine entity juggling his own eyeballs.

I think this says something about Gunnerkrigg Court.
