I keep hearing references to 5e material in these threads. Is it compatible with 3e/3.5e?

No. But homebrewed conversions are not too hard.

They once upon a time made a guide on 2e to 3e conversions.

Sadly, such consideration of customers seems well in WotC's past.

Granted I am working on information I heard months ago, but was there supposed to be a module that was supposed to have been built in 3.5, 4E, and 5th edition?

If that was indeed true, then making conversions should be kinda easy.

Conversions would not be that easy. Ignoring 4E since it is the hardest conversions, 3.5 and 5th have some different basic premises about the game. Every conversion would need to keep these changes in mind. It still can be easy to homebrew a conversion for specific material from one to the other, but it is not easy in a "module as a conversion function" way.

ah yes, I have a copy stored in plastic, still comes in handy occasionally converting old characters or material into 3rd edition

the good ole days when customer service was still a thing in business models
