Is there a way you can get an enchantment on an animal companion to give it a spell like ability? I'm assuming there would be a level adjustment involved, just curious.

A level adjustment wouldn't make any sense, level adjustments don't interact with animal companions. Unless you just mean an adjustment to your effective druid level for its traits as a companion.

Anyway, there's a spell, Imbue with Spell Ability (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/imbueWithSpellAbility.htm), that a friendly Cleric could cast on your companion. That's probably your only option, since generally animal companions aren't really supposed to be magical so there aren't dedicated options to make them magical.

There's a bunch of them you can use with Share Spells. Being a Arcane Hierophant or otherwise getting access to wizard spells increases your options though.
Some examples: Stormrage (lightning bolts), Lord of the Sky (more lightning, but swift), Mental Pinnacle (some psion powers), the various Heart of X spells, Celestial Aspect, some of the Unicorn X spells... there's more but those are what i recall without looking them up.

Well its because we have a player who's doing a mounted sneak attack halfling build and wanted to imbue their mount/animal companion with a spell like ability such as obscuring mists or something similar to enhance the stealthy aspects. However she's using a standard wolf that only has an Int 2 and has no caster levels herself, just using the Beastmaster/Wild Plains Outrider/Halfling Outrider for the mount bonuses (no interest in Paladin levels).

The build involves literal sneak attack? If so, what trick is the player planning on using to get around the whole "can't sneak attack when your opponent has concealment" thing?

Anyway, a nice alternative to obscuring mist would be a Smoking Weapon, which also grants concealment. If the wolf has a Necklace of Natural Attacks you could put it on its bite.

Technically if you grab the feat that let's you have a magical beast companion, there are several acquired templates that have spell - like abilities. AFB right now or I'd give examples.

The feat that lets you have a magical beast lets you choose from a specific list, acquired templates still make it stop qualifying.
